Peacefully, with his family by his side, at the Grey Bruce Health Services in Owen Sound, on Wednesday, March 29th, 2006. Gordon McDonald GUNN, of R.R.#8, Owen Sound, in his 76th year. Dearly beloved husband for fifty-three years of Betty GUNN (née LONG.) Loving father of Linda BUMSTEAD (Gary), Susan DOWNEY (Brian KING), Brad GUNN (Suzanne,) all of Owen Sound and Donna CLARK (Dan,) of London. Proud grandfather of Kevin, Jeff, Michael, Mercedes, Kirby, Justin, Cally, Brittney and Tori. Gordon will be sadly missed by his two brothers, Roy GUNN (Elsie) and Allan GUNN (Leone) and his sister, Marian KYLE (Lorne.) Predeceased by his parents, Hector and Millie GUNN; his brothers, Hector and Howard GUNN his sisters, Elsie HURLBUT and Doreen NESBITT. Friends may call at the Brian E. Age 83 of Chatham formerly of Dresden and Port Lambton passed away on January 3, 2006 at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Public General Campus. She was born in Wabash, daughter of the late Ralph and Hazel (ANDERSON) KYLE. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Chatham. Surviving are two sisters: Marian WATSON of Port Lambton and Helen TOMPKINS of Wallaceburg; several nieces and nephews: Janet MATHANY, Erin and Lauren MATHANY, Craig TOMPKINS, Arlene and Bruce BROKER, Hanna and Caleb BROKER, Patricia and Patrick HENDERSON, Stephen and Sean HENDERSON and a very dear friend Lane DOUGLAS/DOUGLASS. Visitors will be received at the Thomas L. DeBurger Funeral Home, 620 Cross Street, Dresden on Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service and committal service will be conducted from the chapel of the funeral home on Saturday, January 7, 2006 at 1: 00 p.m. with Reverend Mike MARONEY officiating and Reverend Bob WHALLS assisting. Of Saint Thomas passed away at the Saint Thomas-Elgin General Hospital Continuing Care Centre on Sunday, April 2, 2006, in his 91st year. Husband of Ruth (FINCH) Rogers TOWERS and the late Rhoda (PAFFORD) TOWERS (1985.) Father of Barbara EWART and her husband Robert, and Kenneth V. TOWERS and his wife Lois, all of Saint Thomas. Step-father of Donna USHER and her husband Glen of Princeton, and Beth GILLIS and her partner John DICKSON/DIXON of Tiverton. Also survived by 7 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a great-grand_son, Scott KYLE, sisters, Elizabeth GARVEY, Agnes TEMPLE and Mildred WILSON and by brothers, Walter R. TOWERS and Frederick TOWERS. Born in Saint Thomas, May 25, 1915, the son of the late Walter and Mary Ann (ABDEY) TOWERS. He was the retired divisional vice-president of manufacturing for Clark Equipment Canada Ltd., Saint Thomas. George was a member of Grace United Church, a life member of Saint Thomas Lodge #44, Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons, a member of the London Lodge of Perfection, Mocha Temple Shrine, London and the Hi-Ro Shrine Club of Elgin. Friends will be received at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington Street, Saint Thomas on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where the funeral service will be held on Thursday at 1: 30 p.m. Interment in Elmdale Memorial Park. Dear mother of Jason WEITZEL and wife Bonnie of London and Rebecca WEITZEL and friend Patrick KYLE of Seaforth; loving grandmother of Brandon, Kesha and Darian; dear daughter of Frieda MOGK of Mitchell and the late Harold MOGK; dear sister-in-law of Marie WEITZEL, Ruth GINGRICH, Pauline and Bud GRIFFIN, Doreen and John SULZER, Jack WEITZEL and friend Olga. Also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews. Nancy was a former employee of Silverwoods in Stratford and Stovel-Siemon in Mitchell. Peacefully, surrounded by his family, at South Huron Hospital, Exeter, on Thursday, December 14, 2006, Laird Merlin JACOBE, of Exeter, formerly of Hay Township, in his 89th year. Beloved husband since 1950 of Mary Jean HAUSER. Dear father of Sharon and Doug KYLE, of R.R.#2 Zurich and Raye and Jean JACOBE, of Exeter. Much loved grandfather of Sarah KYLE and Ryan JACOBE. Dear brother-in-law of Marion HAUSER. Predeceased by his parents Garnet and Clara (PFILE) JACOBE and one brother-in-law John F. HAUSER. Laird farmed on the Parr Line in Hay Township all his working life and retired to Saint_Joseph in 1988. He was a life long member of Emmanuel United Church, Zurich and became a part of the Exeter United Church family when he and Mary moved to Exeter in 2005. Visitation in the J.M. LOGAN, George Robertson
On Thursday June 8, 2006 after a fall on one of his signature walks. Always a proud maritimer, George was born, September 14, 1917 in Saint John, New Brunswick. He married, Helen, the woman who completed him, on June 1, 1945 in Montreal and finally settled in Ottawa to pursue a career in the government. In 1999, George received a Lifetime Achievement award for his contribution as a founding father of the Canadian Microelectronics Industry. George will be dearly missed by his beloved wife Helen, and his children Peter (Beth,) Susan (John SARGENT,) and David (Nancy.) He will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren Sarah (Rob KYLE,) Rebecca (Patrick DURNING) and great-grandchildren Maya and Penny. Dear brother of Don. He will always have a special place in the hearts of Deirdre, Lou, and his many nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his many Friends in Grand Manan, New Brunswick. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. He served as meteorologist from 1940 to 1977 with the Governments of Canada and Ontario. He assisted in the design of the flood control system for Ontario's Conservation Authority Branch. He served as President of the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographical Society. Predeceased by his beloved wife Frances Mary. Loving father of Ann and Ray ENGLAND, Jill and Ron McKINLAY, Kenneth McMULLEN and Joan SHIRLOW, Shirley and Bob WEEKS.
