ELSON, Catherine Elizabeth
It is with deep sadness that we announce that our beloved mom, sister and grandma, Catherine ELSON, passed away on January 13, 2006. Catherine is survived by her three children, David (Sandy) ELSON of Nepean, Helen LANGELIER of Kelowna and Peter (Mary) ELSON of Edmonton. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Saundra ELSON- KUC (Todd KUC) of Prince George, David (Elaine) ELSON of Chilliwack, Cheryl and Murray LANGELIER, Kayleigh and Tegan ELSON all of Edmonton and Kennedy ELSON of Nepean; three great-grandchildren, Matthew and Jackson KUC of Prince George and Grace ELSON of Chilliwack; two sisters and one brother, Mabel (Earl) JARVIS of Guelph, Norma (Vincent) BAKER and William (Joy) GILLILAND both of Toronto and their families. She was predeceased by her brother, Robert GILLILAND of Toronto. Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2006 at 2: 00 p.m. in the chapel at Hainstock's Funeral Home, 9810-34 Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta. Passed away suddenly at his home in Caledon on Friday, February 10, 2006 in his 86th year; beloved husband of Annelise; loved father of Anna RICHARDSON, Ulrike KUCERA (Robert MAXWELL,) Sigrid DOHERTY (William;) cherished Opa of John, Robert, Carrington, Marcus, Scott and Katharine. Loving mother of her daughter Slava and her son George and daughter-in-law Marie. Dearest Babi of Brywn and her husband Dexter PERERA. Peacefully on Saturday March 4th, 2006 in his 87th year. Predeceased in 1996 by his adored wife Margaret Adele (Dooie) THOMPSON/THOMSON/TOMPSON/TOMSON. Dearly loved father of Helen KUCEY of Port Hope, Ontario (Laura and William,) Janet HARDY and son-in-law Lionel of Charlotte, North Carolina (Lindsey, Alexandra, Frances,) Alison THORNTON and son-in-law Colin of Shediac, New Brunswick, Richard LAY and daughter-in-law Dr. Lee WISENER of Eden Mills, Ontario (Adele and L. Mackenzie), Harry LAY of Toronto (Isabel, Harry, James, Honor.) Born in Barrie, Ontario 1919 (parents: Harry M. LAY and Janet Lindsey KING, sister of Prime Minister W.L.M. KING.) Harry flew for the Royal Canadian Air Force 1939-1945 as a squadron leader and was awarded the A.F.C.; he continued private flying to age 75. After the war he graduated from the University Of Western Ontario, and the family lived for several years at Chantecler Hills Estate in Ste. Adele, Quebec. He spent many years in Ontario as a consultant to the precast concrete industry. Harry's great love was gardening and the country property at Violet Hill, Ontario. He was predeceased by his brothers and sisters Nelson LAY, John LAY, Jean DUNLOP and Rosabel OATES. He will be remembered by many nieces and nephews and their children. Private family service on Friday March 10th at Ross Funeral Chapel, 135 Walton Street, Port Hope. Friends are invited at 3: 30 p.m. to a reception that will follow the service at 92 Augusta Street, Port Hope. Burial at Barrie Union Cemetery at a later date. In his 87th year, on Sunday, November 12, 2006 at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. "Irv" PAISLEY, beloved husband of Adele. Loving father and father-in-law of Susan and Elliott SCHWARTZ, Paula and Ira KUCHINSKY, Michael and Diane, and Stephen and Hiroko. Dear brother of Gertie BRENNER, and the late Peter PAISLEY, and Anna APOLINSKY. Proud grandfather of Richard, Amy, Melissa and David, Amanda, Zachary, Stephanie, Aly, Sam, and Towa. Irv will be remembered for his life long dedication to the community with his involvement in Municipal Politics, Councillor, Controller, and Deputy Mayor of North York, Founding Chairman of York Finch Hospital, Founding Member of Temple Sinai, and Founder of Paisley Manor Insurance. Surrounded by his family at his side, at the N.H.S., St. Catharines General Site on Monday, May 1, 2006 in his 87th year. Beloved husband of Margaret. Loving father of Catherine and her husband David KUCKYT, Barbara and her husband Ross BAINES, Bonnie BROOKS and her husband Budd HOBBS, George and his wife Suelyn and Jonathan and his partner Lisa BASARABA. The best grandpa ever to Margaret, Kathleen, Janet, Jonathan, Heather, Ian, Elizabeth, Isaiah and Jacob. Dear brother of Ross and Dorothy BROOKS and Jim and Pat BROOKS. Predeceased by his sister Catherine "Ine" STEWARD/STEWART/STUART. He served in World War 2 with the R.C.A.F. 436 Squadron. He was actively involved in the community with Knox Presbyterian Church and Saint_John Ambulance. Mr. BROOKS is at the Downtown Chapel of Butler Funeral Home, 33 Duke Street, St. Catharines where the family will receive Friends on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Service of Remembrance will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church, 53 Church St. on Friday, May 5 at 11 a.m. Cremation has taken place.
