Sorrowfully the family of Sophia LYSY (née KOWAL) announces her passing on February 13th, 2006. Her husband Michael and granddaughter Christine predeceased Sophia. She was predeceased by her brother Andrew, her sisters Ksenia and Anastasia in Ukraine and her sister Anna in Poland. Sophia, beloved mother of Vera and her husband John, and Bob and his wife Anna Mae. Cherished Babsia of Darlene, Raymond, Michael and Wendy, Gregory and Constance, Daria, Robert and Paulina, and Mitchell. Loving great-grandmother (Babsia-Babsia) of Chantal, Laska, Nicholas, Douglas, Daniel, Natalie, and Sophia. Will be remembered by many nieces and nephews in Canada, Ukraine, and Poland. Sophia was a founding member of the Ukrainian National Federation and Sts. Vladimir and Olga Ukrainian Catholic Church in Windsor, Ontario. On Monday May 29, 2006 at Royal Victoria Hospital in his 83rd year. Dearly loved husband of Muriel (née PEARSALL,) daughter of the late George and Harriet PEARSALL. Also survived by his sisters Olga and her husband Joseph TURCHENEK of Regina, Myrtle KOWALCHUK of Regina, Sue and her husband Al MOSHER of Saskatoon, and brother Bob and his wife Elsie of Saskatoon. Brother-in-law of Lloyd PEARSALL and his wife Kay of Calgary, Joyce SMITH and her husband Dean of Santa Ana, California, and Thelma COCKBURN of Barrie. A World War 2 veteran with service in Italy and north- west Europe with the Loyal Edmonton regiment. He remained in the Canadian Armed Forces on return to Canada in 1945 and served in various training, staff, and command appointments until retirement from the Regular Forces in December 1975 after 34 years of continuous service. His major appointments included command of the 2nd Battalion of The Queen's Own Rifles of Canada 1964-1966, senior Training Advisor to the Commander of the Tanzanian Peoples Defence Forces 1966-1967, Chief of Staff and Deputy Commander of Ontario Region 1969-1971, and Canadian Forces Attache in Warsaw, Poland 1972-1974. On transfer to Supplementary Reserve in 1976, he served as Deputy Commander and the Commander of the Central Militia Area 1976-1980. On retirement from the Regular Forces, he was appointed President and General Manager of the Ontario Safety League serving in that post until reaching retirement age in 1988. It is with great sadness that we share the news of Colin's sudden death in his hometown of Golden, British Columbia, on July 1st, 2006, in his 33rd year as a result of a motor vehicle accident. He will be sadly missed by his wife Li Moy CHEN of Woodstock and his cherished children Noah and Camryn; loving parents Joan and Ted YOUNG all of Woodstock; dear brothers Warren (Anita) of Troy, Michigan and Christopher of Vancouver, B.C.. Survived by his twin nephews Jacob and Matthew. Son-in-law of Yao and Yu CHEN; brother-in-law of Fu CHEN, Lina CHEN and Lichu CHEN- YUNG. Colin was able to enjoy his love of the outdoors and mountains with a rewarding career in the ski and white water rafting industry. His wonderful smile, spirit, and love of life will be remembered. Loving grandfather of nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Brother of the late Adam POZOJEVIC (Vera of Croatia.) Also remembered by many nieces and nephews in Croatia and Slovenia. George was a veteran of World War 2 with the Royal Canadian Navy and was employed at Standard Tube for over 33 years before his retirement. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bernice J. ODORICO at Woodstock General Hospital on Saturday, November 11, 2006 in her 69th year. Beloved wife of Enrico for over 48 years. Loved mother of Lisa ODORICO of Woodstock. Dear cousin of Walter RUDNICKI and Helen GEOFFREY of London, and Caroline HUDDLEMYER of Indiana. Also survived by several other cousins, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her mother Mary RUDNICKI, her father Stephen RUDNICKI and her sister Julie RUDNICKI. Bernice was a teacher for 38 years, and spent the majority of those years teaching with the Oxford County Roman Catholic School Board. She was also a member of Saint Mary's Catholic Women's League for many years. She loved animals of all kinds, and in her younger years, was an active member of the Oxford Countey Kennel Club. She had a passion for music and loved to share this with her family, Friends and her students. She will be lovingly remembered, and deeply missed. Friends may call at the R.D.
