Peacefully and without warning, on Saturday, March 25, 2006 in
his 91st year, while at the Toronto Buddhist Church. Beloved
husband of Akie for the past 67 years, and father of sons Fred
(Ann) and Garry, and daughter Nancy (Caroline). Grandfather to
Kevin (Tokyo), Paris, Kerry Ann, Stephanie, Naomi (Los Angeles),
Cory, Zachary and Aidan (Vancouver). Great-grandfather to Neil,
Takeshi, Mackenzie, Alexis, Canyon and Reef. He was an inveterate
gardener, and an avid baseball fan who lived a simple, engaged
and fulfilling life of service and reflection. He was a tireless
volunteer and member of the Toronto Buddhist Church for the past
50 years. He freely gave of his time to the many jobs that make
up the busy life of the temple, and he passed away after taking
care of the end of service duties as he has done so many times
before. Friends may call at the Turner and Porter Yorke Chapel,
2357 Bloor St. W., at Windermere Ave., east of Jane subway on
Tuesday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Services will be held at Toronto
Buddhist Church, 1011 Sheppard Avenue West on Wednesday, March 29,
2006 at 2 p.m. It is the wish of Fred's family that in lieu of
flowers donations be made to the Toronto Buddhist Church or the
Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Farm accident kills Norwich man

A farm accident claimed the life of a young Norwich man yesterday.
David KOTELES, 22, of Stover Street in Norwich, was working on
a farm in Norfolk County, rolling a large rack of plants to the
door of a transport truck when he fell from the back of the truck
and pulled the rack on top of him.
Employees of the farm, Oak River Produce, administered first
aid, but KOTELES was taken to Tillsonburg and District Memorial
Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
An autopsy is expected today to confirm the cause of his death.
