CÔTÉ, Doctor André Jean, D.D.S.
(September 24, 1941-December 16, 2006)
After a short, but valiant battle with brain cancer, Doctor André Jean CÔTÉ passed away peacefully at the age of 65 at home in the Town of Mount Royal on Saturday, December 16, 2006. Beloved husband of Karen (née STODDARD,) devoted father of Caroline (Christopher NEWALL,) Stephanie (Jay ADLINGTON) and Dominique, and much loved 'Papa' of James, Andrew and Madeleine. He was predeceased by his father, the late Jean CÔTÉ. He will be sadly missed by his mother Madeleine (née JALBERT,) as well as siblings Michel CÔTÉ (Céline,) Robert CÔTÉ (Carole) and Ghislaine CÔTÉ (Michel.) André will be lovingly remembered by his mother-in-law, Jean STODDARD, brothers-in-law Peter STODDARD (Susan,) Paul STODDARD (Janet,) John STODDARD (Janet) and Tim STODDARD (Ginger,) nieces, nephews, many Friends and patients. André was born and raised in Montreal. He graduated from College Stanislas and received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Paris. In 1967, he graduated as a dental surgeon from Dalhousie University. He practiced in Montreal at The Medical Arts Building on Sherbrooke Street for 40 years and was recognized as an Honorary Member of the Montreal Dental Club for 35 years of devotion to the dentistry profession. Also, André was actively involved in the community, was a Governor of the Montreal General Hospital and served as President of the Mont Royal Country Club for several years. André married Karen STODDARD from Halifax in 1969 and they raised their family in the Town of Mount Royal. He lived his life with integrity and honour and was a man defined by his passions, which included skiing, golfing, deep sea fishing, playing tennis, entertaining Friends and family, and relaxing on the beach in Stuart, Florida. He also enjoyed time in Saint Margaret's Bay, Nova Scotia and always loved a good lobster feast. André's sense of humour, wisdom, generosity and his gentle demeanor will be sadly missed. For those of us who had the grace of sharing life with him, his kindness, his enthusiasm, his love for sport and his loyalty as a husband, father and friend will be cherished forever. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation to the Montreal Neurological Institute Brain Tumour Program c/o Dr. Rolando Del Maestro, 3801 University Street, Suite 109, Montreal, Quebec H3A 2B4, will be greatly appreciated by the family. The family will receive Friends at The Kane and Fetterly Funeral home (5301 Decarie Boulevard, Montreal) on Tuesday, December 19, 2006 between 2: 00-5:00 p.m. and 7:009:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 2: 00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 20th, 2006 at The Church of St. Andrew and St. Paul (Sherbrooke Street at Redpath).
