(September 27th, 1922-September 19th, 2006)
Alex passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family in
Port Perry after a brief illness. He will be sadly missed by
wife of 61 years Trudie, daughters Anne
PEARCE,
Claire
MARSH
and her husband Doug, Margaret and her partner Graham
McINTOSH,
and his grandchildren Lorin, Leah, and Emma
PEARCE, and John,
Emily, Helen and Charlotte
MARSH.
Predeceased by his daughter
Alison ILNYCKYJ and granddaughter Jessica. After serving as a
flying officer in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War 2,
Alex graduated in Mechanical Engineering from Queen's University
in 1950. He enjoyed working for several manufacturing firms and
for the last 28 years of his working life was president of Cole
Steel in Toronto and Standard Desk in Montreal. Alex enjoyed
politics, golf, and his boat, the "Meeting Adjourned" docked
at Lefroy Harbour. He was a very active member of The Board of
Trade of Metropolitan Toronto, The Canadian Council of Christian
and Jews, The Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario,
The Canadian Business Equipment Manufacturer's Association, and
the Bayview Golf and Country Club. The family sincerely appreciates
the compassionate care he received at Port Perry Hospital from
the wonderful nursing staff and Doctor
DAYAL. In lieu of flowers,
donations may be made to the Port Perry Hospital Foundation,
451 Paxton Street, Port Perry L9L 9Z9. Please drop in between 2 and
4 p.m. on Sunday, September 24th for a wee dram of Scotch in
Alex's honour, at Unit 7A, West Shore Village, 293 Perry Street,
Port Perry.
