VAN DER PAELT, Rachel Anna Mary (VAN ACKER)
Passed away peacefully with her family by her side at the Tilbury Manor Nursing Home, on Saturday April 15, 2006 at the age of 91. Born in Moline, Illinois, October 12, 1914, daughter of the late Gustaaf and Leona (COPPENS) VAN ACKER. Rachel later moved to Leamington and Simcoe before making R.R.#3 Thamesville their permanent home. Beloved wife of the late Frans "Frank" VAN DER PAELT (2002.) Surviving is a daughter Marilyn and Kenneth HERMAN of Ruthven, a son Joe and Martha VAN DER PAELT of R.R.#3 Thamesville, grand_sons Ronald and Sarah VAN DER PAELT of Chatham, Jeffrey and Carolyn VAN DER PAELT of Thamesville, and grandaughter Cindy and Dennis DAMPHOUSSE of B.C.. She will be sadly missed by great-grandchildren Brittany, Jeremy, Zachary, Madeline, and Nicholas. Dear sister of Joseph and Ruth VAN ACKER of Michigan, Philip VAN ACKER of North Carolina and Louis and Margaret VAN ACKER of Chatham. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by a daughter Leona and her husband Remie VAN HOVE, sister Marie NOPPE, brothers Rene, Edward, and Frank VAN ACKER. The VAN DER PAELT family will receive Friends at the John C. Badder Funeral Home, 72 Victoria Street, Thamesville on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated at Saint Paul's Roman Catholic Church, Thamesville on Tuesday April 18, 2006 at 11: 00 a.m. with Fr. Andy DWYER as Celebrant. Interment Saint Paul's Cemetery, Thamesville. Donations may be made at the funeral home by cheque to Heart and Stroke Foundation. George will be fondly remembered by his wife Kathy (née ANDERSON,) his sons Mike and Karen HOVEN of Oil Springs and Brian and Kandy HOVEN of Petrolia, and his grandchildren, Christine, Timothy, Matthew, Martena, Spencer, and Amelia. Also remembered by his father, Archie HOVEN and his wife Maxine of Sarnia and a sister, Pat and Jim JOY of Petrolia. He was predeceased by his mother Marion (née FINLAYSON) (1975.) Retired 32 year employee of Primeau Argo Block, of Cooksville. Emigrated to Canada from Holland in 1948. Died peacefully after a long struggle, on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at Milton District Hospital, in the arms of his loving wife. Predeceased by his baby Shirley. Survived by his wife Alida of almost 47 years. Len is also survived by his brother Henk WULFSE and his wife Rietje and his sister Adrie v/d HOEK; nephew Paul WULFSE and his wife Carla and their child; nieces Mieke and her husband Josh LIEFFERING and their children, and Martine WULFSE and her children, all of Holland. He leaves his sister-in-law Adrianna and her husband Hanno DE BOERSAP, also his brother-in-law Harry VAN EIJK and his children who live in Holland; his special niece Marianna and her husband Chris HOVESTADT; nephew Michael DE BOERSAP and his wife Sandra and their children; niece Heather BIERSTEKER and her husband Kevin and their children; and his mother-in-law Johanna DEN HOLLANDER. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2006 at 11: 00 a.m. at St. David's Presbyterian Church, 132 Main Street, Campbellville, with a reception to follow. Peacefully at Queensway Home, Hensall, on Tuesday, January 10, 2006, Mrs. Dorothy HOVEY of Bayfield in her 91st year. Beloved wife of the late Ernie HOVEY. Dear sister of Audrey DOERR of Mitchell. Loving aunt of Braden, Carolyn and Nicholas DOERR, Brian DOERR all of London, and Kevin DOERR of Kitchener. Dorothy served in the Canadian Women's Auxiliary Airforce, being one of the first one hundred and fifty, and achieving the rank of Flight Officer. At Dorothy's request there will be no funeral home visitation or funeral service. Cremation has taken place. Beloved husband of Grace (HENDERSON) GUSTAVSEN for 57 years. Loving father of Preben (Lucie) GUSTAVSEN, Nancy (Michael) BORRIE, Sheila (Jim) FISHER and Lynda (Peter) Glumac. Cherished "Poppy" of Adrienne, Dana and Jac BORRIE; " Grandpa Bill" of Kata, Maya and Arden GLUMAC. Dear brother of Margaret ADAM/ADAMS and Betty (Don) LORDLY and brother-in-law of Herman (Rose) HENDERSON, Jessie HOVEY, Jackie (Arnold) HARE, Marjorie RILEY (Steve POLOS), Mona FRASER, Ann (Bruce) KIERSTEAD, Elouise (Del) MURPHY, Vera HENDERSON and Audrey ARSENAULT. Life-long friend of the Makepeace family. Devoted and loving companion of Alice MURRAY. GILMAN, Geoffrey Beall
Died at age 93 on Tuesday March 7 at Belmont House. Most beloved husband of Betty for 65 years. Adored and respected father to Judith (Jonathan RUBES) and Trevor (Nancy.) Grandfather to Michael (Cathy), Glen, Dale (Martin), Morgan and Colin; great-grandfather to Audrey. The eldest of six, he is survived by sisters Jessica ROULSTON, Isobel RAIKES and Helen HOVEY; pre-deceased by Paul and Guy. Geoff was a very happy man who knew he was the luckiest man alive when he met his soulmate Betty while serving with the Canadian Army in England in World War 2. He retired at 63 from Canron Ltd. and, with his tremendous enthusiasm for life, inspired his family and Friends to do the same. He loved gardening, travel, fishing, outdoor life, music, golf, reading, wonderful food and wowed us with his wonderfully inventive cocktails. Cremation has taken place, and, in accordance with his wishes, there will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Belmont House Foundation at 55 Belmont Street, Toronto M5R 1R1 would be gratefully received.
