HABA, Walter
Peacefully on Sunday, November 19, 2006 at the Carpenter House Hospice, Burlington in his 78th year. Beloved husband of Sonia. Devoted father of John, Michael (Lucky). Dido of much loved granddaughter Sonia. Dear brother of Stanley (Eugenia). Uncle of Anastasia (David), Orest, Andrey (Sally) and great uncle of Nicole and Ryan. Cousin of Oresta, Fedyniak, Kalyna, Pomirko of Chicago, Lesia (Woytek,) PASTUSHAK of New York. Walter will be missed by family in Ukraine and many Friends in the United States and Europe. He played soccer for Ukrainian Tridents and was also a boxing star winning the Golden Gloves Championship then being chosen in 1956 to represent Canada in the Common Wealth Games. At the age of 14 he was a member of the 1st Division of the Ukrainian Army finding his brother Stan and parents in Innsbruk in 1947 then immigrated to Canada. Walter was a good friend to many and will be missed by all. Friends will be received at the Neweduk Funeral Home - "Mississauga Chapel", 1981 Dundas St. W., (1 block east of Erin Mills Pkwy.) on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with Panachyda at 8 p.m. Funeral will be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at Saint Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church (3625 Cawthra Rd.) with Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m. Interment at St. Volodymyr Cemetery. Peacefully at Georgian Heights Long Term Care in Owen Sound on Monday January 23, 2006, in his 90th year. Frederick James HABART, the beloved husband of the late Viola HABART (née BROWN.) Loving father-in-law of Gloria (Mrs. Ron HABART.) Fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his loved son Ron, his brother Horace and his sister Fay JOHNSON. Fred was a veteran of World War 2, serving in the Royal Canadian Airforce. Fred was a member of the Masonic Order rising to the Rameses Shrine. Friends may call at the Breckenridge-Ashcroft Funeral Home on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday morning at 11 o'clock. Beloved husband of Maureen (deceased) and cherished father of Erin (Paul HABER,) Kerry (Robert WAI,) Tammy (John DAWSON,) Alanna (Tim O'HANLON,) D'Arcy (Kathleen PEETS) and Barry. Grandfather of Brenna, Andrea, Gregory and Matthew HABER and Bram and Liam DAWSON. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Mary and Norman SATTERFIELD, Andrew (deceased) and Kathy RITTICH, and Alice and Margaret McCOOL. Dear companion of Patricia PARR. Eugene was a longtime member of the Toronto Symphony and a teacher at the Faculty of Music at the University of Toronto since its inception. The family would like to extend its thanks to his many Friends and colleagues for their thoughts and kindness during his illness; he valued you all very much. The family would also like to express its deep gratitude to Doctors John BRYSON, Steven GALLINGER, Sarah HALES, Monika KRZYZANOWSKA and Camilla ZIMMERMANN, nurse Catherine PURCELL, and the wonderful nursing staff of the Palliative Care Unit at Princess Margaret for the spectacular care and support they provided. LEBLANC, Joan Elizabeth (formerly ROGERSON, née NEWTON)
Age 81 years resident of Pinewood Court, Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on October 6, 2006. Born in Wakefield, England, she was raised and educated in England, served in the British Armed Forces during World War 2 and later married her husband Stuart Raymond ROGERSON. Both immigrated to Canada in 1957 with their first son Keith. Both Stuart and Joan worked for many years in the restaurant/hospitality business in southern Ontario before her husband Stuart's death in 1979. Joan later moved with her two sons to Terrace Bay, Ontario and worked at Birchwood Terrace Senior Citizens home as Social Activities Coordinator until retirement. Joan remarried to Arthur LEBLANC while living in Terrace Bay then moved to Schreiber, Ontario. Joan was an active member of Saint_John's Anglican Church in Schreiber playing the organ, and serving as lay Minister. Joan is survived by two sons, Keith Stuart ROGERSON (Julia) and Malcolm (Mac) John ROGERSON (Bonnie), her Grandchildren James (Sherry), Paul (Shelly), Erin (Terry) and Joshua, her great-grandchildren Ilonna and Adania, her niece Jennifer (Pat) WILKIE, nephews Roger and Malcolm SUTTON and special Friends Diane and Fred PEARCE, Nancy STARK and Valerie HABERERN. She is predeceased by her first Husband, Stuart ROGERSON, her parents John and Ada NEWTON, brothers Jack and Roger, sisters Mary, Joyce and special friend Pam JONES. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service for family and Friends will be held at Central Westside United Church, located at the corner of 10th Street West and 3rd Avenue West, Owen Sound, on Saturday, October 21, 2006 at 1: 00 p.m. There will also be a second memorial service held at First Baptist Church, 308 Red River Road, Thunder Bay on Thursday, October 12, 2006 at 7: 00 p.m. Interment will be held at a later date. If Friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the United Way would be greatly appreciated by the family.

HABIB, Doctor Edwin Emile (December 23, 1927-April 3, 2006)
after a courageous battle with prostate cancer, Edwin passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, in the home he loved so much. He will be sadly missed by his beloved wife of 48 years, Barbara (née ECKERT,) daughter Daphne HABIB, her husband Brian LOEWEN, daughter Sylvia HAAK (née HABIB,) her husband Patrick HAAK, his three grandchildren, Alanna, Mitchell and Nikola, his "adopted" daughter Beth McCLOSKEY, his brother Philip and sisters Adele, Sylvia, Patsy, their families and his many Friends. Edwin was retired from the University of Windsor where he taught in the physics department for 34 years after completing his PhD at McMaster University. He went on to enjoy working as president and past president of the Faculty Association in the few years before retiring in 1993. Fueled by a loved for his family, his music (Bach's St. Matthew's Passion was playing at the end) skiing, sailing, jogging and long summers at the family cottage in beautiful Bayfield on Lake Huron, Edwin had a vigorous, passionate and long life. Donations to the Prostate Cancer Research Foundation of Canada gratefully accepted. Cremation has taken place.
