SZYNDLER, Jerzy Kazimierz

Born in Zloczow, Poland, June 20, 1921 he was the son of the late Col. Czeslaw and Maria (née GLOWACKA) SZYNDLER. After escaping from Poland at the outbreak of World War 2 he found refuge in England along with his family. A veteran of the Second World War, Jerzy joined Allied Forces and served as a Second Lieutenant with The Polish 1st Armoured Division from 1940 to 1946. He looked back at his participation in World War 2 with a great sense of pride, seeing action in Normandy on D-Day, participating in The Battle of Falaise Gap and Wilhelmshaven. Jerzy settled in England after the war where he worked as a Graphic Artist for many years, finally immigrating to Canada in 1984. A man with a great sense of pride for his family and a true love for nature, he will be deeply missed. "We love you Tata".
