Suddenly at Kingsway Lodge on Saturday, January 7th, 2005, Virginia Leona BROCKMAN, of Saint Marys, formerly of Blenheim and Rondeau Park. Predeceased by her husband, Wilfrid Paul BROCKMAN (1978.) Loving mother of Roberta TEAHEN and her husband Gerry, Joe BROCKMAN and his wife Mary, Mary Ellen BROCKMAN, Gerry BROCKMAN and his wife Helen, Aggie BROCKMAN and her husband Terry WOOLF, and Paul BROCKMAN and his wife Barbara. Ball Funeral Home, 7 Water Street, Saint Marys on Thursday January 12th from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Parish prayers will be conducted at 4 p.m. The funeral mass will be held on Saturday January 14th at Saint Marys Roman Catholic Church in Maidstone. Visitation at the church will be at 10: 00 a.m. Funeral mass at 11: 00 a.m. Interment at the Maidstone Cemetery. Lunch to follow at the church. McMANUS, John Shannahan
After a courageous battle with cancer at North York General Hospital on Wednesday, November 29th, 2006. Devoted and loving husband of the late Myrtle (née THOM) for 40 years and predeceased by his brother Pierce and sisters Mildred and Kay. Will be sadly missed by sister Maureen ELSEY, son John and wife Julie, their children Olivia and Patrick, and daughter Katherine and husband Tom. Born in Milestone, Saskatchewan in 1918, he was raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba where he excelled in Baseball, Basketball and Track and Field. John joined the Royal Canadian Air Force at the outbreak of World War 2 and spent 1939-42 at various Fighter Command bases in England. During the spring of 1942, he joined 413 Squadron in Ceylon for a tour and then returned to Bomber Command bases in England for the duration of the war. After World War 2, he attended University of Toronto where he studied Physical Education and played basketball with the Varsity Blues. In addition to playing at the intercollegiate level, John was a member of the 1946 Toronto Huskies practice squad of the National Basketball League. During the summers, he was a pitcher on various professional baseball teams. Upon graduation in 1950, he coached the Acadia Axemen basketball team in Wolfville, Nova Scotia for two years and returned to University of Toronto in 1952 to coach football and basketball and to teach in the school of Phys Ed. John was the head basketball coach from 1954-1983. During that period, he guided the Varsity Blues through more than 600 exhibition, league and playoff games. After retirement, he and Myrtle enjoyed summers at their cottage on Collins Lake and winters in Dania, Florida. In accordance with John's wishes, there will be no visitation, service or funeral. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations are gratefully accepted in John's memory to the 'University of Toronto, T-Holders' Association', and can be sent c/o Varsity Blues Alumni Office, 55 Harbord St. Toronto, Ontario M5S 2W6. MORGAN, Wilbert Arthur " Bert"
Passed away peacefully at Prince George Regional Hospital Monday December 11, 2006 at the age of 89. Predeceased by his parents John and Isabel, brothers Jack, Vern, Joe and Mert and sisters, Kay ELSON and Irma ROBINSON. He is survived by his wife Joyce, sons Brent (Joanne), Vernon, Paul, Dale, grandchildren, Scott, Kelly, Brenda and Karen and sister Elizabeth WRIGHT and brother Doug MORGAN. Bert was the 5th of nine children and grew up on a farm in McGillivary Township, County of Middlesex, London, Ontario. He joined the Army at Woodstock, Ontario in 1939 and was stationed in London, England and later fought in the Italian campaign. After the war he travelled west in 1949 and made Vancouver his home. He married Joyce and had three children. He worked in the construction industry and sold Real Estate in Vancouver and in November 1963 moved his family to Prince George as the Pulp Mills were being built and Prince George was starting to grow. He joined Prince Realty and over the next 31 years he owned and managed several Real Estate offices. Bert was one of the driving forces behind the Prince George Multiple Listing Service system and the former Cariboo Real Estate Association. He was also active in the British Columbia Real Estate Association as the director for several years. Bert enjoyed walking, biking and cross country skiing and he loved to babysit and chaufer his grandchildren around. He was looking forward to his granddaughter Kelly driving him around whenever he called her instead of the other way around. He was a friend to everyone he met and would go out of his way to help someone. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 20, 2006 at 2: 00 p.m. at Saint Michael's and All Angels Chruch, 5th Ave and Victoria Street, Prince George, British Columbia, officiated by Rev. Peter Zimmer. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of British Columbia or the Canadian Cancer Society.

Also survived by 16 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Predeceased by sons Hank and John KOOPMANS (2001,) a granddaughter Sandra VAN ELSWYK (1975,) brothers Albert and Hank and sisters Jantje and Grietje.
