ELLIS, Doctor Peter Michael
69, of Wolfville, Nova Scotia and formerly of Ottawa, Ontario, passed away suddenly at home on May 3, 2006. Born in Bombay, India, he was the son of Harry Austin ELLIS, a railroad engineer, and Elsie (HOCKING) ELLIS, a nurse. He grew up in Coventry, England, and attained his medical degree from the University of Birmingham, England, in 1960. In 1965, he emigrated to Canada with his first wife Freda (BARTHOLOMEW) ELLIS, settling first in Moose Jaw Saskatchewan, then Oshawa, Ontario and then Ottawa, Ontario. He was a radiologist, practicing for many years in Ottawa and then in Perth-Andover, New Brunswick, before finally retiring in 1997 in Wolfville. He is survived by his loving and beloved wife Norma (WHEELER) ELLIS, with whom he recently and joyously celebrated his 26th wedding anniversary, his son Richard (Dawn EDLUND,) of Ottawa, daughter Rowena, of Ottawa, sister Sheila (Frank)Stenton, of Coventry, England, brothers-in-law Raymond (Jennifer) WHEELER, of Cobble Hill, British Columbia and Roger (Trudy) BARTHOLOMEW of Corning, New York, nephews Tony STENTON of London, England John (Kimberly) BARTHOLOMEW of Portland, Oregon, their son Dylan, and niece Lesley BARTHOLOMEW of Providence, Rhode Island. Peter was predeceased by his father Harry in 1944, his mother Elsie in 1996, his first wife Freda in 1979 and his nephew, Scott BARTHOLOMEW in 1996. He will be remembered by Friends and family alike as a man of few words and abiding faith, with a love of classical music, books and travel. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or St. Andrew's United Church in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. A memorial service will be held at St. Andrew's United Church, 329 Main St. in Wolfville, with Reverend Robyn Brown-Hewitt officiating on Monday, May 8, 2006 at 2: 00 p.m. Interment will take place in Willowbank Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of H.C.
