2006 following a lengthy illness which he courageously endured.

BENSTEAD and his brother
David in the United Kingdom, and predeceased by his brother Geoffrey.
Born in London, England on April 9, 1923, he joined the Royal
Air Force during World War 2, flying Spitfire and Mosquito fighter
aircraft and attaining the rank of Flight Lieutenant. He was
transferred to the Royal Navy (Air Branch) and was assigned in
Canada training new Royal Canadian Air Force pilots. Following
his discharge from the Royal Navy as Lieutenant Commander after
the war, he returned to Canada to study law and commerce in Montreal,
where he met his bride-to-be of 57 years. Throughout his professional
career he was located in France, Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto.
He acted as the International Chairman of the Institute of Chartered
Secretaries and Administrators where he contributed greatly to
the growth and success of that organization. He was also a Freeman
of Swansea. Ken will be remembered with great fondness as a loving
father and husband, and as a loyal friend known for his integrity,
strength, courage and determination. The funeral service will
be held at the Church of the Epiphany, 141 Bronte Road, Oakville,
at 2: 00 p.m. Tuesday, October 3rd with visitation from 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Diabetes Foundation
or the Alzheimer Society of Canada would be greatly appreciated.
