Born Montreal November 1, 1915, died peacefully at home in Burlington, Ontario on April 25. He is survived by his wife of almost sixty years, Helen (MacALLISTER,) sister Betty GROTHE, sons Murray and John and grandchildren Victoria and Jeffrey. His brothers Rupert and Eric and daughter Barbara Joan predeceased him. He was decorated while serving overseas for four and a half years during World War 2. Memorial service to be held at Saint John's United Church, Oakville, Ontario 1: 00 p.m. April 29, Reverend Don GIBSON officiating. If desired, in lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made to an organization of your choice.

Beloved wife of Harry Karl Ernest MOHAUPT. Caring mother of Diane PORTER (Don), Nancy LOCKE, Fred DOELLE (Julie), Michelle MOHAUPT (Pamela), Derek (Beatrice) MOHAUPT. Devoted and proud grandmother of Warren (Natalie) PORTER, Luke, Whitney, Jake, Andrea, Kurt, Paige and Ryan. Dear sister of Kaye (Emerson) HALL, Helen (Jim) MATHEWS, Bernard (Mary) CLARK, Connie MYLES and Anita (Ken) NIXON. Passed away November 4, 2006 in his 75th year. He was born May 3, 1932 in Stratford, Ontario to parents John and Ethel Lillian DOELLE and loved by his step-father Harry CHARLISH. Herbert will be reunited in heaven with his loving wife Leona, and his brothers Fred and Harry. He will be cherished by his dear sister Joan DOWLING. Herbert will be missed dearly by his nieces and nephews Diane, Nancy, Kim, Fred, Teresa and Louis, and many great nieces and nephews and Friends. MILLER, James McKay
Passed into the presence of his Lord on January 5, 2006 in his 87th year. Born in Saint Thomas, the son of the late Ernest and Hazel MILLER. Mr. MILLER lived in Saint Thomas all his life, he is survived by his wife Eleanor, one son Matthew and his partner Joan CARNOHAN of Listowel, two daughters Marsha and her husband Donald CLEARY and Mary Kay and her husband Barry IDESON, both of Saint Thomas. A son Norman died previously. Papa will be sadly missed by his nine grandchildren, Cody, Dustin and Riley MILLER, Rianne, Kenzie, Shelby and Brodie CLEARY, Karli and Brady IDESON and three great grandchildren Colin and Charmayne MILLER and Ryan CLEARY. Survived by a brother Campbell and his wife Mary of London, a sister-in-law Kathleen and her husband Marvin HOUSE of Saint Thomas, and several nieces and nephews. Mr. MILLER was a member of Trinity Anglican Church and a long time employee of the former Anderson's Ltd. A service celebrating Jim's life will be held on Tuesday January 10 at 2: 00 p.m. at Trinity Anglican Church with Reverend Rob DOERR officiating. Visitation at the church from 1: 00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Following the service Friends will be received by the family in the church hall for a time of fellowship. Cremation has taken place with the ashes to be scattered at the Old Saint Thomas Church Scattering Garden at a later date. Flowers are gratefully declined. Dorothy served in the Canadian Women's Auxiliary Airforce, being one of the first one hundred and fifty, and achieving the rank of Flight Officer. At Dorothy's request there will be no funeral home visitation or funeral service. Cremation has taken place. Thank you to the caring staff at Ashwood Manor, Lambeth, who provided a warm and friendly residence for Vera (she enjoyed each and everyone of you); to the outstanding nursing staff at Ashwood; to Eileen REYNOLDS who gave Mom the care she needed (we are so grateful so you, Chris, Judy, Marlyn and Wanda;) to Mary DUCHARME of Community Care Access Centre; to the minister Charles SCOTT and son, Jim, who made the service so personal; to the organist, Ross MacDONALD to the caterer, Barb MEADES who provided a delicious luncheon after the service; to the exceptional staff at Westview Funeral Chapel; to Geri DOERR, the staff and Board of Directors, Chelsea Green Children's Centre, who sent flowers, donations and food to Shirley RIORDAN, who wrote a special poem for Aunt Vera; and to all the Friends, relatives and caregivers who attended the service and those who traveled from out of town. A very special thank you to Doctor Albert MOK who made special visits to Vera during her last few weeks. Doctor MOK has taken care of our family for many years and is always there for us. HOLMES, Marcus Hughes
In Memory of Marcus Hughes HOLMES, born January 1913, at Alsask, Saskatchewan, died September 29, 2006 at Ganges, Salt Spring Island, British Columbia He grew up in Vancouver, British Columbia and married Gertrude KELLETT with whom he had 2 sons, Barry and Donald. During this time, he started the Mount Pleasant regional newspaper in West Vancouver. In 1942, Marc enlisted in the Royal Canadian Artillery and served in England, Italy, France, Belgium and the Netherlands. He returned to Canada in 1946, and continued his army career until his retirement in 1962 with the rank of Major. After the death of his wife Rudie, Marc married Nursing Sister Jean DOERR in 1959, and settled with her on Isabella Point, Salt Spring Island in 1962. Together, they developed a successful fruit and vegetable farm. Holmes Road on Isabella Point is named after Marc. A strong advocate of land conservation and maintenance of the rural character of the Gulf Islands, Marc became very interested and active in Island politics. He served 2 terms as Regional Director for Salt Spring on the Capital Regional Board. He was instrumental in the regional land use planning for Salt Spring and the outer islands. He was appointed to the Islands Trust in 1974 where he served as Vice-Chairman for two years and another two years as Chairman. In his later years, Marc maintained an active interest in preservation of the Island way of life. Together with Jean, he enjoyed a well deserved full retirement and travelled extensively to Asia, Europe and South America. He is survived by his loving wife Jean, sons Barry (Jane), and Don (Judy), 4 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. The family is sincerely grateful for all the loving care given to Marc during his stay at Greenwoods. In celebration of Marc's life, his family invite his many Friends to a reception on Sunday, October 15 at the Harbour House Hotel, Ganges, from 1 to 4 p.m.
