CHANEY, Edward
Peacefully at Parkwood Hospital, London on Thursday, June 1st, 2006 Edward CHANEY, B.E.M. of London in his 86th year. Ed was born in London, England on March 26th, 1921. Devoted husband and treasured friend of Laura (TOMPSETT) CHANEY for 57 years. He was also the proud father of Michael CHANEY and his wife Doris of London. Devoted "Grandad" of Lisa, Katelyn and Allison. Ed was also the much loved brother of the late Alex CHANEY and his wife Peggy, Pauline CANT and her husband Charlie, Elsie and her husband the late Richard DOCHERTY, and Doris and her husband the late Arthur HOLLINGSWORTH. Dear brother-in-law of Alec and Joyce TOMPSETT. He was "Uncle Ed" to Teresa, Louise, Lynne, Ruth, Don, Robert, Gary, Malcolm, Chris and Philip. Ed will also be missed by many treasured cousins, Friends and members of the many local organizations and clubs to which he belonged. He was a proud veteran of World War 2 and served in the Royal Air Force for 7 years in Belgium, France, India, Pakistan, Burma and fought at Dunkirk. Ed was honoured with the British Empire Medal for his military service. He was a devoted long term employee for 31 years at M.M. Dillon as a Senior Electrical Designer. Ed was an avid golfer and his musical talents with his ukelele were enjoyed by many, especially veterans. Grateful thanks to Doctor WELLS and the staff of Parkwood Hospital. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 5th, 2006 at 2: 30 p.m. at St. George Catholic Church, 1164 Commissioners Road West, London. A. Passed away peacefully at Leisureworld Caregiving Centre, Elmira, on Tuesday, January 31, 2006, at the age of 87. Loving wife of Gordon GILL for 64 years. Mother of Sandra (Peter) HENDERSON of Waterloo. Loving Grandma of Lisa (Peter) HORST, Terri (Brian) DERNESCH, Cathy (Jeff) BURNELL, and Gord HENDERSON. Great-grandma of Katie, Lauren, Danielle, Emily, Jordan, Tyler, Jacob, Ashley and Billy. Loving sister to Mina DOCHERTY and Greta PRITCHARD of Toronto. Predeceased by her mother Agnes MARSHALL and by her first husband Reverend Canon Kingsley DOCKSEY. Walter was in the vegetable wholesale business in Leamington (in previous years). Also survived by two sisters: Maria MERTENS of R.R.#2, Ruthven and the late Ludo (December 1, 2004) and Simonne and her husband Joe DOCKX of R.R.#1, Clear Creek. Also survived by a nephew, David DOCKX and his wife Teresa and a niece, Bernice and her husband Chris VAN OOTEGHEM, all of R.R.#1, Clear Creek and great-nieces: Alexandra, Lauren and Jaime and a great-nephew Jeremy.
