The Cole Family announces with sorrow the death of Jon Wilfred COLE of Cobalt. Mr. COLE passed away surrounded by his loving family at the Temiskaming Hospital, New Liskeard on Sunday, January 1, 2006 at the age of 80 years. Jon had a Country and Western music group called "Jon Cole and Friends". The group would often play in seniors' homes and entertain the residents and this gave Jon the greatest pleasure. He loved to see the audience tapping their feet or clapping their hands to his music. Jon was also a member of the Kiwanis Club which does a lot of fundraising for various charities in the area. Jon was born at Cobalt on January 13, 1925 to the late Delwor COLE and Helena Rebecca VILLENEUVE. He is predeceased by his first wife Bernice Joan COLE; and siblings: Arthur, Tommy, Hector, Walter, Clarence, Bobby, Teddy and Sally. Left to mourn is his loving wife Evelyn Florence COLE; children: Carolyn HAMM (husband Jim,) Donna DURAND (husband Don,) Patricia DILEO (husband Paul,) Karen ANDERSON (husband Chuck,) Russell BROWN (wife Judy), Jimmy BROWN and Glenn BROWN. Born in Ste. Brigitte de Laval, Quebec. Mrs. LAMBERT was the daughter of John BROWN and Alice (McDONALD) BROWN. Mrs. LAMBERT came to Ontario as a child, and except for a year spent in Fribourg, Switzerland, lived most of her life in Sarnia. Predeceased by her husband Tom in 1969. Mrs. LAMBERT is survived by her four daughters: Judith CUMMING of Ottawa, Barbara HOURIGAN of Dundas, Jacqueline SIMMONS of Toronto and Mary Louise LAMBERT of Toronto. Loved by her grandchildren Cathie FEUSTAL and her husband Mike of Florida, Tom BISHOP of Hamilton, Elise LEWIS and her husband Brian of Hamilton, Michael SIMMONS of London, Christopher SIMMONS of Ottawa, Paul and Tom CUMMING of Ottawa. Mrs. LAMBERT is also survived by her great-grandchildren Madeline and Calvin LEWIS of Hamilton. Stella is also survived by her brother Bill BROWN of New Orleans, Sally DUNN and her husband Frank of Sarnia and sister Mary DILL of Southampton. Predeceased by a sister Eileen, brothers Al and Joe and in infancy, Michael, John and Madeline, her sons-in-law Gerald CUMMING, David SIMMONS and Jack HOURIGAN. Mrs. LAMBERT is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Age 96 of Wallaceburg was called home to be with her Lord on Thursday May 18, 2006. She was born in Dawn Township daughter of the late Charles and Frances (STEELE) PENGELLY. Agnes was a member of North Dresden Baptist Church, the Ladies Aid and Mission Circle. Surviving is her daughter Lois (HORNICK) and her husband Leonard SALISBURY; two grandchildren: Katherine and her husband George ALLMAN of R.R.#3 Dresden, Brian HORNICK and his wife Nancy DILL of London; two great-grandchildren: Marnie and husband Dan CUMMING, Trevor ALLMAN; one great-great-grandchild Connor CUMMING; three step grandchildren and five step great-grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews also survive. She is predeceased by her first husband William BRESETT and her second husband Gordon McNAUGHTON, son-in-law Lee HORNICK, three sisters, five brothers and an infant brother. Born in the Gore of Downie, on April 6, 1927, son of the late William and Margaret (BAKER) KELLY and step-son of the late Francis SLOAT. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Stratford. Beloved husband of 50 years of the late Theresa (WHALING) KELLY (1998.) Loving father of Beth and her husband Steve YOUNG, Joan and her husband Jack DEGROOT and Jane KELLY and her partner Brad FLOOD. DILLE, Mary (née YATES)
Mary was the eldest of five children, born to William and Mary YATES, 20th May 1940, in Lancashire, England. She had three brothers - Peter, Gerald (deceased), David and a sister, Hilary. After leaving school Mary worked for Manchester libraries gaining a position within the Arts Department of the renowned Manchester Central Library. Her sense of adventure and curiosity about the world resulted in Mary emigrating to Canada in 1963, sailing on the assisted passage scheme, costing just £10.00. In Canada she continued her career by working in the Arts Department of Toronto Central Library. In 1970 Mary met photographer Lutz DILLE and his young daughters Maya and Zoe. She and Lutz soon formed a relationship with Mary assisting Lutz in the editing of his film work, accompanying him to various locations and spending considerable time living with an Inuit Community in Northern Canada. Mary and Lutz later moved to Wales where their only son Oliver was born in 1981. The family moved to Normandy in 1985, and later settled in South-West France. Throughout their relationship Mary was a tireless ambassador in the promotion of Lutz's photographic work. Mary loved the outdoors and as a young woman instilled her passion for the countryside into her younger brothers and sister, taking them on long cycle rides, hikes and camping trips. Mary was always adventurous and ready for a challenge. Colourful and vibrant, she embraced all cultures and customs wherever she lived and worked. Her artistic flair was particularly evident in the style of her homes, gardens and cooking, which she generously shared with visiting Friends and relatives. Mary passed away on October 25, 2006, surrounded by family. Her courage was evident throughout her life, and in the recent months of illness. While undergoing treatment for breast cancer she continued to teach English at several schools in the Lot et Garonne. Mary was an inspiration to all and is greatly missed by Lutz, Oliver, Maya, Zoe, her brothers, sister, cousins, family and Friends, far and wide. Remembered for her generous heart and ability to find humour in all situations and goodness in others, Zelma died peacefully in the Sunnybrook Palliative Care Unit, Toronto, on Friday, July 14, 2006 just before her 85th birthday. She was born in 1921 to Latvian parents in Khabarovsk, Russia, and after being orphaned at the age of two, was raised in Lejasciems, Latvia. She was beloved wife of August GAILITS followed by Vilis Pauls KURCBAUMS. She is survived by two sons, Stephen and Edwin GAILITS, daughters-in-law, Gayle GAILITS and Thérèse STUKEL, and grandchildren, Tyler, Annie, Andre, and Nicola GAILITS. Special thanks to Agnes DILLEON for the loving care she gave. The family will receive Friends at the R.S. Loving wife of the late Kenneth RYLANDS (1996) and dearly loved aunt of Lois ARNOLD and her husband Doctor John ARNOLD of Scottsdale, Arizona. Loved great aunt of David ARNOLD, Christina ARNOLD and Whitney DILLER. She was born in Otterville, Ontario on March 17, 1910. Daughter of the late Elston and Alice (REAVELY) JOHNSON. Predeceased by two brothers H. Ross JOHNSON (1962) and Doctor Carson JOHNSON (1976.) Amy spent her life in Aylmer and Saint Thomas. She was a former telephone operator in Aylmer and then worked with her husband Kenneth in Rylands Flower Shop and then Clinton's Flower Shop for a number of years before retiring. She was a member of the Maple Leaf Chapter #3 O.E.S., Sisters of Unity Lodge #509. Former Chartered member of the Sweet Adelines, former member of the Saint Thomas Kinette Club. Peacefully on April 24, 2006 in his 95th year at the Veterans Residence at Sunnybrook. Much loved and loving father of Rochelle (Shelley) Morris GLAZER and Sidney MORRIS. He will be lovingly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews including his Florida family and other family members. He was the son of the late Maurice and Tilley. He is predeceased by his sisters Carmel and Sylvia, and brothers Julius, Morton, twin Gordon and Marvin. Beloved husband of the late Bertha ADELSTEIN (1953) and Gertrude DILLICK (1988.) He will be missed by his many Friends at Marlee Avenue. Also survived by Sylvia's husband, Heintz FISCHEL, Marvin's wife, Sylvia, Bertha's brother and sister-in-law Albert and Esther ADELSTEIN and Gertrude's sister, Dorothy GARTEN. David served in the Royal Canadian Air Force from July 1941 to December 1945, including three years in London, England. He was a kind, gentle and good-hearted person who lived his life well and had the gift of making people around him laugh. SISSING, Roelof
We are thankful for the life of Roelof SISSING, and that we were allowed to share part of his long life of one hundred and five years. To be able to think of all the beautiful moments we shared with him we are especially thankful. He is gone from us now, on Tuesday, February 28th, 2006, but he will forever be in the hearts of those he touched. Roelof was born on July 22, 1900 in The Netherlands. He married Alida Henderika SPIER in 1928, the love of his life. They started their lives together on board ship, the Dageraad II, and raised six children on board. When the war broke out, and in the middle of the bombardment, he and mom did their best to keep us safe. In 1944 when the Germans confiscated his ship he kept us safe and together. Then in 1951 two of his daughters married and came to Canada. The following year he brought the rest of his family to Canada and started over. He believed in keeping the family together and safe. The family grew with more marriages and of course grandchildren. In October of 1982, the love of his life Alida died and in 1983 he lost his son Jurrien. Community service has always been part of his life. He served as a medic in World War I, and a volunteer fireman in Holland. He served with the Saint John's Ambulance in Ingersoll for many years, also feeding patients at Alexandra Hospital. He received the Governor General's Award, Heart of Gold Award and Ingersoll Citizen's Award for his services. Dear father of Barteldina and her husband Anton VANDER HOEK of Port Colborne, Henderika and her husband John ONBELET of Ingersoll, Alida and her husband Paul HOUGHTON of Comox, British Columbia, Marten and his wife Patricia of Sweaburg and Roelie and her husband Bernard DILLIOTT of London. Loved by 21 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Also predeceased by one great-grand_son Matthew ONBELET (1981.) Hazel Violet (Vi) MULLIGAN died peacefully on Sunday September 17, 2006 at the Grey Bruce Health Services, Markdale Site in her 80th year.
Vi was born on July 14, 1927 to parents Charles and Mildred LEE. She was raised in the Dundalk area and after her marriage to Joe MULLIGAN resided at Victoria Corners. They built a new house in 1974 and moved to live at Lake Eugenia. After Joe died in 1985, Vi resided in the Flesherton-Markdale area until she became a resident of Grey Gables in March 2005 when failing health took away her independent living.
Vi was a stay-at-home mom caring for her eight children who survive her: Donna (Floyd) GRUMMETT, Linda McGRATH, Ivan MULLIGAN, Helen (Bill) MILLER, Kathy MULLIGAN, Don (Jayne) MULLIGAN, Patti (Brian) BATCHELOR, and Marlene (Glen) McINTYRE. 17 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren will miss her. A sister, Muriel ALLEN, brothers Gord and Glen LEE and a daughter-in-law, Barb MULLIGAN also survive her. Her brothers Jack, Bill and Ed and a son-in-law Ron McGRATH predeceased Vi.
The family received Friends at the May Funeral Home, Markdale on Tuesday September 19. Pat GRAHAM, a close family friend, prepared supper at the McIntyre residence for the family between visitations. A Mass of Christian burial was held at Saint_John's Roman Catholic Church, Glenelg, on Wednesday September 20th, The BLACK family sang during the Mass as Father Jiri MacENAUER officiated. The interment was in Saint_John's Cemetery.
The pallbearers were grand_sons Mark McGRATH, Christopher and Bradley MULLIGAN, Kyle BATCHELOR and Adam, Lee and Paul McINTYRE. The flower bearers were granddaughters Joe-Anne SMITH, Angela McGRATH, Shannon MULLIGAN, Marni GOSS, Shelley DILLMAN and Sandi BATCHELOR.
Granddaughter Lee-Anne TEETER read a "Grandma" poem. Jan POWELL, a special family friend, read a poem "Our Mom" written by Kathy MULLIGAN. Vi's favorite song, "The Rose" was played, then Sharon MULLIGAN said grace before the luncheon was served at the Glenelg Hall.
There is no doubt, a wonderful person was she
With a loving, caring nature, now set free
A wife, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend
A great-grandma, grandma, and loving mom to the end.

Harold MEYER, beloved husband of Mary Bernice MEYER of Kitchener, passed away peacefully at the Grand River Hospital on Monday November 20, at the age of 86. Harold will be lovingly remembered by his children Annette (Donald) McKINNON, Brian (Zinta) MEYER, Nancy (Michael TANNER) MEYER, Connie (Paul TIMMINS) MEYER from Toronto, Ontario and Lynn (Marcel) SAVOIE from Calgary, Alberta as well as six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Harold was born in Waterloo, Ontario to Theodore and Sarah (GEIS) MEYER and was brother to three sisters - Mary Ann (KENNEDY,) Charlotte (STOCKIE) and Leona (ZETTEL.) He is survived by his sister Mary Ann KENNEDY of Oakville, Ontario who will dearly miss him and their many conversations. Harold married Bernice DILLON on July 8th, 1944 in Elmira, Ontario. After the birth of their children they traveled extensively from 1966 until Bernice suffered a stroke in December of 1998. Harold worked tirelessly to give her as comfortable and full a life as possible since that time. They had celebrated 62 years of marriage. Harold was a salesman all his life and had two careers, one with The W.T. Rawleigh Company as his father had been, and the second in the investment business. As a stockbroker he had a long and productive career spanning 30 years. Harold worked for many companies before he retired from RBC Dominion Securities in 1993, although he never lost his passion for following the market. Harold was involved in several different Investment Clubs over the years and made many Friends. He also enjoyed playing cards, his favorites being bridge and solo. He was a member of The Knights of Columbus Kitchener Council since 1940 (the second longest member). Visitation will be held on Friday from 2: 00 until 4: 00 p.m. and from 7:00 until 9:00 at Henry Walser Funeral Home at 507 Fredrick Street, Kitchener, Ontario. Funeral Prayers will be held at 8: 15 during the Friday evening visitation. The Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, November 25th at 10: 00 a.m. at St. Francis Church, 49 Blueridge Avenue, Kitchener, Ontario. Rowley FERRIS born in Saint John, New Brunswick, son of the late Ida and Harold FERRIS at the age of 84. Beloved husband for 60 years of Reta (née NICE.) Dear uncle of Charles HUMPHREY and his wife Barbara, Holly Anne SMITH and her husband Garth and Barbara Lynn PEARSON and her husband Bruce, David NICE, and Hazel JENSEN and her husband Jim. Brother-in-law of Murray NICE and his wife Dorothy. Rowley will also be missed by his numerous great-nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held in St. Paul's Chapel, St. Peter's Church, King St. East, Cobourg, on Friday, March 3 at 11: 00 a.m. Interment Heritage Cemetery of St. Peter. 65, Hammonds Plains. In the early morning of December 4, 2006, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle slipped peacefully from the arms of his family into the arms of our Lord. He was a son of the late Clarence and Madeline (LECLEAR) NOLAN. He is survived by his wife, Frances Louise (RING) NOLAN; children, Gary NOLAN (Michele,) Leah LANG (Stan,) Heather NOLAN, Patrick NOLAN (Terri), Catherine Parker (Michael), and Sean NOLAN; cherished grandchildren, Melissa, Peter, Anne Marie, Stasia, Mackenzie, Sydney, Taylor, and Emma; brothers and sisters, Linda DILOSA (Phil,) Saint Thomas, Ontario; Mary DRAKE (Cyril,) Mississauga, Ontario; Joan WALSH (Martin,) Illinois, U.S.A.; Elizabeth LAUR, Illinois, U.S.A.; Jane CARR, London, Ontario; Patrick NOLAN (Debbie), Illinois; U.S.A.; Michelle ETHRIDGE (Glenn,) Sarnia, Ontario as well as several nieces and nephews. A devoted husband and father, Dennis dedicated his life to God and family. Dennis served in the Canadian Armed Forces (Navy) before moving his young family to Ontario where he was employed with General Motors. In retirement, Mom and Dad returned to Nova Scotia where they were able to enjoy many happy years with family and Friends. Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 6 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in T.K.
