Peacefully at his home in Owen Sound on Sunday, January 1, 2006. Ron STEPHENS of Owen Sound in his 69th year. Beloved husband for 47 years of Shirley (née STEARNE.) Dear father of Allyson and her husband Gord HIBMA, Mike STEPHENS and his wife Barb, Rhonda and her husband Todd DEYELL and Jennifer and her husband David ECKERT all of Owen Sound. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Crystal, Chris, Justin, Travis, Devin, Nicole, Josh, Mathew, Kristen, Kaitlin, Kevin and Kim. Brother of David STEPHENS and his wife Lyn of Owen Sound, Margaret of Collingwood, Gord STEPHENS and his wife Mona of Owen Sound and Rob STEPHENS and his wife Sue of Bracebridge. Brother-in-law of Marilyn of Owen Sound, Bernie of Timmins, Ron and Elizabeth STEARNE of Francis Lake, Virginia and Les BYERS of Mt. Forest and Jack and Mae STEARNE of Saskatchewan. Predeceased by his parents John and Alice STEPHENS, brothers George, Jim, Jack, Russel and a sister Alice. Friends are invited to the Tannahill Funeral Home, 376-3710 for visiting on Wednesday from 2 4 and 7 9 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted in the chapel on Thursday, January 5th at 2: 00 p.m. with Doctor Brad CLARK officiating. RIEHL, Matilda Regina (née ORTLIEB)
Of Tobermory passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 11th, 2006 in her 83rd year. Beloved wife of Melvin RIEHL whom she married on June 21, 1946 and dear mother of Faye McNAIR of Cambridge. Matilda is also survived by brother James (Helen) ORTLIEB of Kenora and sisters Emma DEYELL of Wingham and Albertine BUTCHER of Amherstburg, two grandchildren Yvette (Barry) BREWSTER and Monique McNAIR and three great-grandchildren Adam, Aaron and Jacob HILKER all of Cambridge. She will be sadly missed by her very dear Friends Tillie and Jack VAUGHN of Lions head and Judy and Bill BISHOP of Tobermory as well as many nieces and nephews. Matilda was predeceased by her parents Emily (WEINER) and Frank ORTLIEB, four brothers and two sisters. The family will receive Friends at the Tobermory United Church on Wednesday, June 14th from 2: 00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. where the service to celebrate Matilda's life will be held on Thursday, June 15th at 2: 00 p.m. with Rev. Passed away peacefully on Friday September 29, 2006 at the Georgetown Hospital at the age of 73. Loving husband of Patricia (née DEYELL.) Loving father of Terry (Francis). Lynda (Nick), Ted and Leasa (John). Special Papa of Todd, Amanda, Adam, Jessica, Jason, Rebecca, Zachary, Maddisan and Mitchell. Lovingly remembered by his two surviving sisters, predeceased by one sister and two brothers. Also lovingly remembered by Patricia's two sisters, one brother and one sister (predeceased). DEYELL, Barbara Mary (née ROWSON)
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our mother, Barbara DEYELL (ROWSON,) on Sunday, January 22, 2006 at age 59 after a short battle with cancer. Barbara was predeceased by her loving husband, Robert and is survived by her daughters, Shannon and Kelly. Prior to her marriage, Barb spent many years with Burns Fry and she loved the excitement of Bay St. After her husband, Bob, died ten years ago, Barb started visitng her new home on Mustique and a few years ago, her new home in the Thousand Islands. She loved the peace and solitude of retreating to both with her beloved dog and cats. Always bright and feisty, Barb's exterior strength concealed a warm heart towards her Friends. Barb will be buried in a private family service but Friends who wish to celebrate Barb's life are invited to join us at the Gananoque Inn on Saturday, January 28 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name can be made to The Toronto Humane Society and The Canadian Cancer Society Research Division. She lived with style, courage and a profound respect for people and for learning, in keeping with her career as an elementary school teacher in Toronto from 1928 to 1967. She was the beloved wife of the late Fred CROSSLEY and is survived by her two nephews, Jay and Scott DEYMAN; her niece, Judy CAREY and her husband Lee and great-nephew Colby. Lyla requested that a statement of her appreciation be expressed to her Friends near and far, the people of Rosedale United Church and her wonderful caregivers at Briar Crest Retirement Home for their years of care and support.
