READY, William Joseph, C.D.3, J.M. (1929-2006)
On Tuesday October 3, 2006 in Fredericton, New Brunswick, William Joseph READY passed away at the age of 77 years. Bill was born in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island on May 9, 1929, the son of William and Margaret (CONNORS) READY. Bill graduated from St. Dunstan's University and took his commission as an artillery officer in the Airborne, 1st Light Battery. His military career (1949-1994) included service from Troop Officer to Battery Commander, and technical appointments such as Trials Officer, Instructor in Gunnery, and Foreign Liaison and Chief Protocol Officer. He retired as a Lt. Col. with the reserves, after commanding the Provincial Warning Centre in Charlottetown. Bill was predeceased by his parents, his sisters, Bernice, Betty, and Elaine, and his dear wife of 53 years, Nancy Helen Bell Beer READY. He will be sadly missed by his loving children Susan DIAZ (Victor,) Daphne Ready DAEL (Emil,) Jane READY, William READY (Kerry,) Phillip READY (Sylvia), Nancy Elizabeth READY, as well as his 17 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. To all his comrades at arms from military to Legion, Bill bid a fond farewell. In deference to his firm belief that all animals are innocent, any donations in Bill's memory may be forwarded to your local Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. There will be a graveside service at Saint Mary's Church, Indian River, Prince Edward Island on Sat, Oct 7, 2006 at 10: 30 a.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home. Peacefully, passed away at the Maple Manor, Tillsonburg, on Thursday, December 28th, 2006, with her family by her side, Alida (VAN DAELE) VAN DE WIELE, formerly of R.R.#1 Courtland at the age of 88 years. Alida was born July 19, 1918 in Wingene, W.F., Belgium, daughter of the late Rene VAN DAELE and the late former Maria POLLEFLIET. Predeceased by her beloved husband Victor VAN DE WIELE (January 3, 1993.) Much loved mother of: Richard VAN DE WIELE and his wife Simonne of R.R.#1 Delhi; Jean and her husband Jerome DONCK of R.R.#1 Courtland; Elaine and her husband Boyd ARMSTRONG of Tillsonburg. Proud and loving grandmother of eight grandchildren: Lynne and Steve DUQUETTE, Joanne and Michael KIMURA, Rick VAN DE WIELE and Marleen, Rose-Anne and Kent McLELLAN; Jerry DONCK and Adele, Jeanine and Rick ASSEL, James DONCK and Jodi and Christopher ARMSTRONG and friend Julia and fifteen great-grandchildren. Survived by two sisters: Suzanne and her husband Walter DEFREYNE of Langton, Vivian and her husband John HAHN of Tillsonburg and nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by a brother Remi VAN DAELE (1986) and a sister Julia (LeSage) GEKIERE (2006.) Friends and relatives are welcome to meet with the family on Monday, January 1, 2007 from 2 to 4: 30 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Verhoeve Funeral Home, 262 Broadway, Tillsonburg. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial to be said on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Saint Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 51 Venison St. W., Tillsonburg by Rev. Father Matthew GEORGE. Interment to follow in the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Cemetery, Langton. Memorial donations (payable by cheque) to the "Alzheimers Society" or the charity of your choice would be gratefully acknowledged by the family. C.W.L. On Wednesday, May 3, 2006 in Goderich, Kenneth Lorne ALCOCK passed away in his 69th year. Beloved husband of Carolyn (WILLIAMS) ALCOCK. Dear father of Pamela BAKER and friend Steve of Belleville and Angela ALCOCK of Callandar. Loving grandfather of Kendra, Jack, Alexandra, Charlotte and Shawn. son of Isabel and the late Jack ALCOCK. Also survived by brothers and sister Bill (Helene) ALCOCK of Goderich, Betty DAER of Clinton, Ross (Cora) ALCOCK of Brussels and Murray (Barb) ALCOCK of Goderich, aunt Jean STOREY of Stratford. Brother-in-law of Clifford "Tip" (Shirley) WILLIAMS of Sarnia, Richard (Joan) WILLIAMS of Point Edward, Marlene (Chester) OSMOND of Waterloo, Sylvia (David) KIRWIN of Sarnia and uncle Arthur WILLIAMS of Sarnia. Also lovingly remembered by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by son-in-law Duncan BAKER and brother-in-law Joe DAER. Cremation. Memorial visitation will be held at McCallum and Palla Funeral Home, Cambria Road, at East St. Goderich on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Service of Remembrance will be held at St. George's Anglican Church, Goderich on Saturday May 6, 2006 at 11 a.m. Interment of cremated remains Maitland Cemetery.
