Donald, D.S.O., C.D., Legion of Honour
Passed away at the Village of Riverside Glen, Guelph on Thursday,
March 23, 2006. Don Learment at the age of 87 years, predeceased
by his beloved wife, Babe (2003), was born in Truro, Nova Scotia,
the only son of the late Jack and Frances
LEARMENT.
Don attended
high school in Truro, and was a graduate of Acadia University
where he was a member of the Varsity hockey team that won the
Maritime Intercollegiate Championship. Don joined the North Nova
Scotia Highlanders and served for five years, participating in
the 1944 Normandie landings, the battle of the Scheldt and the
Rhine crossing. In 1945, he married Lt. (N/S) Cecelia (Babe)
McDONALD of Edmonton. Don is survived by his son, Jack (Beth)
of London, and daughter, Frances (Tom)
NIBLOCK of Acton. Loving
Grandpa of Julia and Eric
NIBLOCK. In business, Don worked for
CIL in various locations, and on retirement in 1978, was Senior
Company Representative for the Maritime Provinces and Newfoundland.
Don's passing leaves us with a proud legacy of loyal service
to his country, dedication to his family and quiet integrity.
Memorial service will be held at the Gilchrist Chapel - McIntyre and
Wilkie Funeral Home, One Delhi Street, Guelph on Wednesday, March 29
at 11: 00 a.m. with The Rev. B. Jean
MITCHELL officiating. Cremation
with Inurnment in the
LEARMENT family plot, Anglican Church Cemetery,
Truro, Nova Scotia on June 6, 2006. Memorial contributions to
the North Nova Scotia Highlanders Mural Maintenance Fund would

Peacefully, on February 2, 2006, at Trillium Health Centre -
Queensway, at the age of 93. Ruth, lifetime employee of
CIL and
Stauffer Chemical, beloved wife of Leslie. Dearest aunt of Tayce
WAKEFIELD and her husband Roy. Dearest sister-in-law of Willa
WAKEFIELD of Victoria, British Columbia. A sincere thanks to
the staff at Trillium Health Centre Queensway and Mississauga
Sites and Dr. Michael

Friends may call at the Scott Funeral Home, Mississauga Chapel,
420 Dundas St. East (one block west of Cawthra Rd.), 905-272-4040,
on Sunday from 1-4 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the
Chapel on Monday, February 6, 2006 at 1: 00 p.m. Cremation Glen
Oaks Memorial Gardens, Oakville, Ontario, followed by inurnment
