Fondly remembered by his brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jim CARMICHAEL (Carol) and Dolly RUSTON and a large extended family. Arthur was a well-respected and charismatic businessman and philanthropist, but even more importantly, he touched everyone he met with his genuine interest in people. He was a true gentleman, in every sense of the word, and his kindness and generosity knew no bounds. Arthur spent his entire working career at the Canada Trust, except for the four years in which he served overseas during the Second World War. He started at the bottom and finished at the top. Upon his retirement, the Canada Trust established a chair at the School of Business Administration at the University of Western Ontario, named: The J. Allyn Taylor and Arthur H. Mingay Chair in Business Administration. In the 27 years that these gentlemen held the positions of president or chairman, the Canada Trust grew one hundredfold and achieved recognition as one of Canada's premier financial institutions. At different times during his business career, Arthur sat on the boards of directors of Algoma Steel, Inglis, Loblaws, Mutualife, Royal Insurance and Sears. His charitable contributions are too numerous to list, but include fundraising endeavours and board participation with the Heart and Stroke Foundation, The United Way, Thompson Hall and Sunnybrook Hospital. Arthur also found time for extensive community involvement through the church, the Kiwanis Club and Rosedale Golf Club, where he served as President. The family will receive Friends at the Humphrey Funeral Home - A.W. Miles Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Eglinton Avenue East) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on January 12, 2006.
