FRIEDLICH,
Lewis
In his 106th year, and 80th year of marriage, left us peacefully
in his sleep at Baycrest Hospital on October 2, 2006. The patriarch
of the Friedlich family survived the first and second world wars
and nazi persecution with most of his family in Hungary, escaped
from the communist regime and started a new life from scratch
in Canada with his wife and two sons. He leaves behind a legacy
of a large family of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He
was a great humanitarian, who no matter how short of funds always
wanted to help the less fortunate. Family had always been the
focus of his life to pave the way for the next generation at
often great personal sacrifices. He will be sadly missed by his
beloved wife
Aurelia. He was a loving father to Steven
FRIEDLICH,
Georgine FRIEDLICH-

in Hungary and the Sardi family in Budapest and is predeceased
by his brother Tibor

PEARN,
Patricia
Louise (née
BETTERS)
Our sweet Pat passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, 21 October,
2006, early in the morning, in Toronto. Daughter, sister, cousin,
aunt, wife, sister-in-law, god mother, mother, mother-in-law,
fairy god aunty, lover of children, committed volunteer, trail
blazing banker, and a dear and loyal friend to many, near and
far. Always a prairie girl at heart, Pat loved nature, the harvest
season, the wind and the sky. She was well read, well travelled,
well informed and no matter what, always well turned out. An
inveterate baker, adventuresome cook, imaginative gardener and
gracious host, Pat's creations were readily shared and continuously
anticipated, even if it meant having to play a board game or
two before or after enjoying! A quick and bright mind, sharp
wit, vast vocabulary, wonderful sense of humour, playfulness,
competitive but fair play nature, leadership and management capabilities,
kindness, generosity, energy and determined spirit served her
well both personally and professionally. Our hearts are broken
and her physical absence leaves a huge void but we are comforted
in knowing she remained independent and self-determining to the
end. In keeping with Pat's wishes, a graveside service and interment
have been held and we are gratefully declining all things floral
in favour of tribute contributions, should you be so inclined,
to: Sunnybrook Hospital Foundation in aid of Geriatric Day Hospital
2075 Bayview Avenue, Room H332, Toronto, Ontario M4N 3M5 Sincere
thanks to neighbours, Friends and professionals, who have supported,
cared for and encouraged Pat, particularly in the last few years.
She deserved more time but we know she's off to see her beloved
Spence. Godspeed Mom.
