Survived by devoted daughters Margaret BLAKE of Sarnia and Janet BEGER (Wayne) of New Hamburg treasured grandma of Colleen SIM (Sarnia,) Jennifer BEGER (Goderich) and Cameron BEGER; devoted great granny of Lynden EVERS (Sarnia.) Predeceased by parents John and Catherine WOOD (RANKIN,) siblings Elizabeth (Betty) McCOY, Agnes FIDLER, Catherine (Cathy) DEAN, Isabella (Isa) AITKEN, Minnette CHURCH, Archibald (Archie) WOOD and William (Bill) WOOD. Slept peacefully away at University Hospital on Wednesday, November 15, 2006. "My bonnie wee lassie" will be sadly missed by husband Thomas, sons Thomas Jr. (Fran) and William (Cathryn), grandchildren Scott, Lehsa, Lauren, Emily and great-grandchildren. At Betty's request, cremation has taken place and a private family celebration of life will be held. The family all wish to extend their heartfelt thanks to the compassionate nursing staff of the Family Medicine/Palliative Care Unit on the sixth floor at University Hospital and the Community Palliative Consultation Team, staff of the Community Care Access Centre and all the staff and Friends at Masonville Manor. On April 4, 2006, following a brief but inexorable illness that ended a life rich in experiences and achievements. Born in Latvia on August 2, 1924, exiled to Sweden in 1944, then to Canada in 1950, where she fulfilled her goals to study music and literature at the same time remaining devoted to her immediate and extended family. Aina graduated from the Royal Conservatory of Music as well as the University of Toronto, taught music in Toronto and Burlington and published many books of poetry and prose that were acclaimed in her native Latvia and abroad. She will be fondly remembered by her daughter Dace BEGGS and her husband Gail STARR of Vancouver, son Raidis ZEMDEGS and his wife Maria DEBARTOLO of Toronto, grand_sons Jonathan, Joseph and Aleksandrs, sisters Rita LIEPINS of Ottawa and Dzidra VEISBERGS of Richmond Hill, her husband Pavils VASARINSH and their families, as well as her colleagues -- music teachers in Burlington, and her readers and fellow writers in Latvia and other countries. The funeral service will be held at the Rosar Morrison Funeral Home, 467 Sherbourne Street, Toronto on April 8th at 10 a.m. Visitation on April 7th from 6-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the A.L.S. Of Saint Thomas, on Monday, April 24, 2006, with courage and dignity, and never a single complaint, died peacefully surrounded by the ones he loved best, in his 65th year. He was a gentle and kind spirit, beloved husband of Jeanette (BEGIN) PADDON and much loved father of Michele and Lisa PADDON, both of London. Devoted son of Helen PADDON and the late Russell PADDON and dear brother of Dean PADDON and his wife Barbara of Saint Thomas and their children Pam and Susan. He will also sadly be missed by Pauline MOSS and Grant DENT. Loved and remembered by many close lifelong Friends and known fondly as "the Big Guy". John was an avid golfer, fisherman and dart player. He was born in Saint Thomas on December 1, 1941. In keeping with John's wishes there will be no public visitation or funeral service. A private family service will be held. John loved all seasons, but especially the spring. It is our wish that in lieu of sending flowers to the family-please enjoy them budding, blossoming and rooted firmly in the earth as he would have. Beloved husband of 63 years to Sigrid (ERNSTSEN) PEDERSEN. Dearly loved father of Ebba SCHMID and her husband Ted of Rodney, Roy PEDERSEN and his wife Dorothy of Saint Thomas, John PEDERSEN and his wife Amy of North Plains, Oregon, and the late Grethe BEGLEY. Cherished grandfather of Cheryl, Michael, Dennis, Timothy, Jennifer, Elizabeth and Anna. Also survived by 4 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his daughter, he was predeceased by 5 sisters and 2 brothers. Born in Hald, Denmark, February 3, 1920, the son of the late Carl and Anna (PETERSEN) PEDERSEN, he came to Canada in 1949. Paul farmed and resided at Port Talbot from 1956-1990, after which he moved to Union and then to Saint Thomas in 1999. He was a member of St. Ansgar Lutheran Church, London and a Past President of the Optimist Club of Wallacetown. Peacefully on Thursday, March 23, 2006 at Peterborough Regional Health Centre Hospital. Beloved wife of the late Timothy Patrick BEGLEY. She will be sadly missed by their children Tim (Eileen,) Terry (Patricia), Dawn (Doug), Debra (Sean) and her brother Bill (Pat). Nan will be fondly remembered by her 8 grandchildren Robert, Cody, Shawn, Skye, Mackenzie, Kyle, Melissa and Jordan. Friends may call at the Giffen-Mack Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 2570 Danforth Ave. (at Main St. subway) from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29th. Funeral Service to be held in the Giffen Mack Chapel on Thursday, March 30th at 11: 00 a.m. Interment and memorial ceremony to follow at Pine Hills Cemetery.
