was affiliated with pro and semi-pro baseball in the Toronto
area for many years as a player, coach and manager. He also was
affiliated with the Harness Racing Association, owning, training
and driving in Toronto, Barrie, Peterborough, Orangeville and
in the States until a training accident cut his career short.
A service of remembrance will be held on Saturday, April 8th
at 11: 00 a.m. in the Carfrae Chapel of the Mount Pleasant Mausoleum
and Cemetery, 375 Mount Pleasant Road, Toronto, (enter the Yonge
or Mt. Pleasant entrance and follow the solid yellow line). In

from York University and went on to become a successful marketing
sales executive. Dianne moved to Vancouver with her husband in
1986 to start her family. She was a devoted mother and very active
in community fund raising efforts and school P.A.C. activities.
She will be greatly missed by her many nieces, nephews and Friends.

will be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews and
their families for her loving and caring nature. Barbara was
born on June 17, 1914 in London, Ontario to Frank Arthur
PORTER
and Helen Irene
WALDHOFF. In 1941 Barbara married Frank
BACON
and after a brief stay in London they moved to Lambeth to raise
their family. Barbara was totally devoted to the three men in
her life. Her unconditional love, never ending support and encouragement
as numerous family endeavours were pursued was the essence of
Barbara and her greatest gift to them. Having a very keen interest
in china, Barbara joined Sayvette Department Stores from 1965-1976
becoming head of the Giftware Department. In June of 1978 Barbara
joined Birks Jewellers and was well known for her enthusiasm
and "very catchy smile". Barbara was an active member in the
Lambeth community for many years, developing many Friends and
sharing in many activities. Barbara was an avid sports fan and
enjoyed playing bridge and euchre. Barbara's strength and commitment
to her husband Frank during his period of illness was remarkable.
During her later years, Barbara was a very devoted and loving
grandmother. Her kind and gentle manner will forever warm the
hearts of her granddaughters. She will always be remembered for
supplying awesome "dress up" clothing, preparing fabulous Sunday
family dinners and baking delicious brownies. In 2001 Barbara
moved from Lambeth to Countryside Manor. Heather and her staff
provided a loving and compassionate environment that allowed
Barbara to live out her life with grace and dignity. If desired,
memorial contributions to Countryside Manor, 24264 Coldstream
Road, R.R.#2, Ilderton, Ontario N0M 2A0 would be appreciated
by the family as gratitude for the kindness they showed to Barbara.
