2006 at Toronto East General Hospital. He is survived by his
beloved wife of 67 years, Doris (née
ANSELL,) sister Maisie
SADLER,
son John, and granddaughter Mimi. He will be fondly remembered
by extended family and Friends in Canada and abroad. Alf's passing
was preceded by several days by the death of his younger brother
Stan in Clacton-on-Sea, England. Alf, a World War 2 Veteran of
the British Armed Forces, immigrated to Canada with his wife
and son in 1953. He built the family home in Highland Creek and
worked as an upholsterer, foreman and production manager at Barrymore
Furniture in Toronto until his retirement in 1981. He was an
avid gardener and a skilled carpenter. His strength, courage,
humour and pragmatism earned the respect of all who knew him.
He was a cherished and constant husband, father and friend who
will be dearly missed. Visitation will take place at Pine Hills
Reception Centre, 625 Birchmount Road, Scarborough, Tuesday,
January 10 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Service will be
held at Pine Hills Chapel, Wednesday, January 11 at 1: 30 p.m.

A private family interment of ashes will take place at Avondale
Cemetery, Stratford on Wednesday September 20th. Donations to
the Clinton Public Hospital Foundation or to the charity of one's
choice would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.

Realtor remembered
An outspoken and thundering voice in Wasaga Beach was silenced
last week.
Doug ANSTEY, a Wasaga Beach real estate sales representative
affectionately known as 'Old Doug' died November 30 after a short
battle with liver cancer at the age of 75.
"He had a loud thundering voice that is well-known in the town
but he also had a softer side," said his daughter Darlene
ANSTEY
in a telephone interview. She said he expressed that softer side
through his poetry
Mr. ANSTEY was diagnosed with cancer in September and learned
in October the illness was untreatable.
Darlene said his health declined very quickly in a little more
than two months and he died in hospital last week surrounded
by family.
Doug is survived by his wife Lillian, their four children Douglas,
Dianne, Darlene and David, nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren
and his dog Porsche.
