was a longtime member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. #55, Woodstock
and worked at Standard Tube for over 18 years. Friends were received
at the R.D. Longworth Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock,
539-0004 on Friday from 7-9 p.m. where the funeral service will
be held in the chapel on Saturday, March 18, 2006 at 10: 30 a.m.

Died at Sunnybrook Health Science Centre on October 17, 2006,
from complications related to Parkinson's disease. He had lived
in the Veterans Wing at Sunnybrook since 2002. Herb was born
in Tipperary, Ireland, in 1921 and moved to Canada in 1925. He
was raised in Edmonton, Alberta, and enlisted with the Air Force
at Fort William in the 418 Edmonton Squadron of the Royal Canadian
Air Force, serving overseas from 1942 to 1946. On his return
he attended Queen's University, graduating in 1950 as a metallurgical
engineer. In 1968 he earned his Master's of Science at the University
of Cincinnati. Herb is survived by his wife

Doris CAMPBELL and William. Music was important to Herb throughout
his life. Even recently he still filled the halls of Sunnybrook
with his glorious tenor voice, somewhat marred by Parkinson's
but full of his love of music. A special thanks to the doctors
and nurses who cared for him in emergency and the Intensive Care
Unit in his last few days and to the nurses and staff of K3C
during his years in the Veterans Wing. The family will receive
Friends at the Humphrey Funeral Home - A.W. Miles Chapel, 1403 Bayview
Avenue (south of Eglinton Avenue East), Toronto, on Sunday, October 22,
from 2: 00 until 5:30 p.m. The funeral service will be held in
the chapel on Monday, October 23rd, at 11: 00 a.m. Private interment.

in Duncan, British Columbia on July 21st, 1920, as a young boy
Slade moved to England. In 1937 he enrolled in the University
of London and entered the University Officer Cadet Corps, from
which he joined the Queens Own Regiment in 1940 and was later
commissioned into the Middlesex Regiment. During World War 2
Slade served in England until 1943 and
in North Africa, Italy,
and Greece until 1946, attaining the rank of Captain. Upon his
return to the United Kingdom he enrolled in Imperial College.
Slade returned to Canada in 1955 where he later graduated in
Geological Studies from Queen's University in Kingston and University
of Toronto, Ontario. For many years Slade worked in the geological
field throughout Canada. He eventually became a high school teacher
with the North York Board of Education as the head of Chemistry
at C.W. Jefferys S.S. Slade was a sensitive lover of nature and
the environment, of music and books, and especially of travel.
He and Sonia enjoyed many wonderful trips and adventures together
and he was busy planning another to Turkey when he became ill.
His colleagues and students will remember him as a gifted teacher,
a conscientious administrator and a superb mentor. Slade's many
Friends will remember with affection and admiration his wide-ranging
interests, his genuine concern for others, his gentlemanly nature
and his indomitable spirit. His spirit soars with the eagles.
A memorial to celebrate his life will be held at a later date.

of her life in Montreal, resided briefly in Keeseville, New York

she was loving, loyal, strong in the face of adversity, and very

and feed the birds and squirrels. Craig had much joy entertaining
all the kids and always made everyone laugh. We will never forget

home). Carmel was a faithful member of the C.W.L. and Volunteer
for the Victorian Order of Nurses and Canadian Cancer Society.

Peacefully, at Labdara Lithuanian Nursing Home, Toronto, on May 31st,
2006 in his 85th year. Dear brother of Vytas

and brother-in-law to Janice. Beloved uncle of Paul, Ellen (Jonathan
RATH) and Michael
TRECIOKAS and great uncle of Emma
RATH, all
of Ottawa. Mecislovas enjoyed a special longstanding Friendship
with George and Mary
ZLATKUS and Anicetas
ZALAGENAS.
Born in
1921 in Kaunas, Lithuania, where he escaped from Soviet occupation
in 1944, Mecislovas entered Germany where he had to work in a
forced labour camp. In 1947, after the war, he emigrated to Canada
where he worked in Wawa as an electrician. Later in Toronto he
worked for Wm. Neilson's for 26 years. Mecilovas' good cheer
and bonhomie made him many Friends during his lifetime. Friends
may call at the Turner and Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W.,
at Windermere, east of the Jane subway, on Sunday from 2-4 p.m.
and 6-8 p.m. Funeral mass will be held at the Church of the Resurrection,
1 Resurrection Rd., Toronto, on Monday, June 5, 2006 at 10 o'clock.
Interment Saint_John's Lithuanian Cemetery.
