Passed away peacefully at her home in Sudbury, Ontario on Monday, May 1, 2006 in her 85th year. She will be greatly missed by her husband and best friend of 64 years Andrew (Andy) ELLIS and her 3 loving daughters, Valerie and husband Alfred FISHER of Kingston, Ontario, Marilyn and partner Patricia VANDERHEYDEN of London, Ontario and Debbie and husband Barry McGUGAN of St. Albert, Alberta. Joining them in mourning her passing are her wonderful grandchildren Benjamin and Laura FISHER, Michelle, Sarah, Hannah and Joe VANDERHEYDEN and Bobby and Brent McGUGAN. Ena will be missed by her dear sister Marjorie JOHNSTON of Gravenhurst, Ontario as well as many loving relative and cherished Friends. She is predeceased by her parents Reverend John and Margaret (McMULLAN) MacARTNEY, brothers John, Harold and Gordon and sister Jean. Ena met and married Andy in Espanola. Her life in Espanola was rich and full. She served on the Espanola Library Board, was involved with Espanola Little Theatre, the Welcome Wagon, United Church Womens' Auxiliary and the Horticultural Society. Ena loved to cook and entertain. She touched the hearts of many and will be remembered for her warmth, hospitality, thoughtfulness and kindness. Of Exeter and formerly of Hensall, passed away Thursday, February 16, 2006 at Stratford General Hospital in his 76th year. Husband and dear friend of Frances (TAILOR/TAYLOR) MICKLE. Father and father-in-law of Pam and David O'BRIEN of Blenheim, Judith and Randy POLLOCK of Saint John, New Brunswick, and John MICKLE of London. Grandfather of Michael, Steven, Daniel, Andrew and David. son of the late Laird and Dorothy MICKLE of Hensall. Missed by sisters and brothers Betty MacMILLAN of Waterloo, Charles MICKLE of Hamilton, Bob and Lynne MICKLE of Ayr, and Ann and Bud COLLINS of Waterloo, sisters-in-law Marg ROBERTSON of Cambridge and Isabel McMULLEN of North Bay, brother-in-law Bill WALKER of London and several nephews and nieces. Bill was active and enjoyed being President of the Hensall Kinsmen Club, Deputy Governor, Governor and National Director of the Kinsmen Association. Served as Director of the Ontario Egg Producers Marketing Board and the Canadian Egg Marketing Association. Bill was also the Vice-President of the Canadian Egg Producers Council. Served as Deputy Chief with the Hensall Fire Department for fifteen years. Bill was Councillor for the Town of Exeter for two years and for fifteen years served as the Reeve of Exeter and Councillor on Huron County Council. During that time he was Chair of the Ontario Small Urban Municipalities and President of the Association of Municipalities for Ontario. Bill enjoyed choir singing, curling, lawn bowling, golfing, fishing and a good story. He loved a good joke. He thanks his family and his many Friends for his wonderful life. Career criminal born circa, 1905
A member of the notorious Red Ryan gang that terrorized Ontario, Quebec and New York during the Depression, he was captured and served time for bank robbery. In 1936, he was paroled and decided to marry, make a fresh start and move to Vancouver. Luck was against him. Unable to find work, he again turned to crime. After committing a series of robberies in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia, he realized the police were on to him and made a run for the U.S. border. He was stopped at the Blaine, Washington., crossing and, after an altercation, shot and killed a U.S. customs officer. He sped away from the border in his car and, in his haste to escape, mistakenly shot himself in the head while attempting to drive and shoot over his shoulder at the same time. He died in hospital in Bellingham, Washington.

She was predeceased by her sisters Florence, Betty, Patricia, and her step-daughters Eleanor (Bill) VIPOND and Madeleine (Dave) BARTLETT. She was a devout Catholic, good friend and neighbour. Don was a music teacher at Listowel Central and Eastdale Public Schools as well as being a Principal at Elma Township Public School. Don was active in the Brussels Legion Pipe Band as a piper, was a Past District Deputy of the North Huron Masonic District and Past President of the Bluewater Shrine Unit. Don will be lovingly remembered by his wife Barbara Jane (SUMNER) DUNBAR and children David DUNBAR and his wife Edith of Ottawa and Becky DUNBAR of Ingersoll. Also loved by his grandchildren Matthew, Harriet and Paula. Predeceased by his parents George DUNBAR and Olive McMURCHY, his infant brother David and sister Georgia. Bill is survived by his wife, Flora (née MacMURPHY,) whom he married December 26th, 1946. Father of Peggy SMITH and her husband, Trevor, of Toronto and their children, Shona, Naomi and her husband, Brian DEWOLFSMITH, Kyla, and Bryony. Father of Dan CONGDON and his wife, Mary, of Waterloo, and their children, Peter and Lisa. Brother of Jean BEERS and her husband, Ross, of Yarker, Ontario, and Arthur JOHNSTON. Predeceased by his sister, Anna JOHNSTON, and his parents, Duncan CONGDON and Lucy JOHNSTON. Bill was a Polysar employee from 1943 to 1980. Lawrence McMURRAY, a resident of Mindemoya died at home on October 28th, 2006 at the age of 80. He was born in Tehkummah, son of the late John James and Mina (KAY) McMURRAY. Lawrence was predeceased by his first wife Rosie. His wife Eleanor (McALLISTER) and his children, son Len and wife Shannon and daughter Freda will sadly miss him. Grandpa greatly loved and adored by his grandchildren Bryan, Todd, Ashley, Jennifer of Owen Sound. Dearest brother to Orland and family of Elliott Lake, Floyd and family of Brampton, Glen and family of Hepworth, Percy and family of Erin, Scott and family of Nova Scotia and dearest brother to Bernice DUGGAN and family of Tehkummah, Marie KAY and family of Thunderbay, Sally SMITH and family of Alberta. He was predeceased by his sister Louise BATES and family of Owen Sound and brothers Ken and family, Bill and family. Lawrence will be remembered and sadly missed by so many Friends who were like family to him. Such as his and Eleanor's room-mates and staff members of the Field House, Hope farm and Community Living, Mums Restaurant in Mindemoya. His presence will be greatly missed. As of October 28th Mr. Lawrence McMURRAY returned back home to be with his Heavenly Father. And Friends and family said their final goodbyes on November 2nd, 2006, at the Mindemoya Cemetery. McNAIR and his wife Deborah of Thorndale and Doctor Susan McNAIR and her husband Doctor Edward MacNEIL of London. Shirley regretfully leaves four grandchildren, Kenneth and William McNAIR and Margaret and Clara MacNEIL. Also loved by her sister Doctor Madeline HARDY and husband Doctor J.G. McMURRAY of London. Predeceased by her parents, Homer J. (1971) and Bella HARDY (1992.) Shirley was active on the Board of the Women's Christian Association and on the Building Committee of the new Parkwood Hospital. She was a Past President of the McCormick Home Auxiliary. Her commitment to her church was central in her life. She presided as Clerk of Session at New Saint_James Presbyterian Church from 1987 to present. In her varied life roles, most notably that of mother, she was greatly loved for her faith, wisdom, compassion, insight and keen sense of humour. Passed away on Monday, July 10, 2006 at Glynnwood Retirement Home. Predeceased by husband Colin McRAE (1983,) daughter Susan MacMURRAY (2001) and son-in-law Brock MacMURRAY (2006.) Survived by loving sons Duncan (Denise) of Tiny Township, and Neill of Agassiz, British Columbia, former daughter-in-law Mary McRAE of Owen Sound, 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Mabel was an early graduate of Occupational Therapy (U of Toronto 1930) and served her profession for many years. She was offered a position in 1934 to help develop the occupational therapy program at the Astley Ainsley Institute in Edinburgh, Scotland. She was asked to return to the Astley Ainsley Hospital in 1996 at the diamond jubilee to honour her work there and to plant a tree to commemorate the special pavilion she had designed and built to house the Occupational Therapy department. Mabel was the middle of three generations of the family who attended Havergal College where she was awarded the Old Girls Award in 1997. Very community minded, Mabel served in executive roles with the Brown School Parents' Association, the University of Toronto Schools Parents' Association, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra Women's Committee, the Imperial Order of the Daughters of the Empire and T. Eaton Memorial Church. She will be greatly missed by her family and many Friends whose lives were brightened by her incurable optimism. We would like to thank Doctor Brenda Whitney and the staff of Glynnwood Retirement Home, particularly Lona MARTINS and Alex SEMENOV, for all the help they have given to Mabel and to the family. The family will receive Friends at the Humphrey Funeral Home - A.W. Miles Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Eglinton Avenue East), from 12 noon to 1: 30 p.m. followed by a service in the chapel on Friday, July 14 at 1: 30 p.m. Interment at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Peacefully on Monday, January 9, 2006 at Scarborough Grace Hospital. Noël will be missed by his devoted wife Claire. Dear father of Cary, Sharon (Bill McMURRAY), and Donna (Troy CHUCK).
