It is with great sadness that the family announce the death of
Mary DUNLOP on October 13th 2006. She died at the age of 91 surrounded
by her family at the Victoria County Memorial Hospital in Baddeck,
Nova Scotia. Born in Antigonish January 2nd, 1915, she was the
daughter of the late Gustave and Margaret
(MacMASTER)
HEUSER.
Following graduation from high school in Sydney Mines and Teachers
Collage in Truro, she taught for 19 years at various schools
in Nova Scotia: MacLeans' Bridge, Heatherton, Florence, North
Sydney, Teachers Collage (Truro), Baddeck Academy 1949-1950.
She married Charles David (Buddy)
DUNLOP from Baddeck, son of
Gerald and Bessie
(MacASKILL)
DUNLOP.
She and Buddy owned and
operated the Telegraph house for over 50 years and
MacAskills
Funeral home. Her concern for individual and community well being
was demonstrated over the years through her many fundraising
efforts to improve the schools in which she taught and the communities
in which she lived. The consummate host she was her happiest
when hosting family, Friends and guests at her "home" the Telegraph
House. She was a member of the Alexander Graham Bell Club, Nova
Scotia Tourism Association and President of the Home and School
Association. Mary's elegance, charm and humor will be sadly missed
by her 5 children and 13 grandchildren; son David
