DUNLOP, Mary Theresa (née HEUSER)
It is with great sadness that the family announce the death of Mary DUNLOP on October 13th 2006. She died at the age of 91 surrounded by her family at the Victoria County Memorial Hospital in Baddeck, Nova Scotia. Born in Antigonish January 2nd, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Gustave and Margaret (MacMASTER) HEUSER. Following graduation from high school in Sydney Mines and Teachers Collage in Truro, she taught for 19 years at various schools in Nova Scotia: MacLeans' Bridge, Heatherton, Florence, North Sydney, Teachers Collage (Truro), Baddeck Academy 1949-1950. She married Charles David (Buddy) DUNLOP from Baddeck, son of Gerald and Bessie (MacASKILL) DUNLOP. She and Buddy owned and operated the Telegraph house for over 50 years and MacAskills Funeral home. Her concern for individual and community well being was demonstrated over the years through her many fundraising efforts to improve the schools in which she taught and the communities in which she lived. The consummate host she was her happiest when hosting family, Friends and guests at her "home" the Telegraph House. She was a member of the Alexander Graham Bell Club, Nova Scotia Tourism Association and President of the Home and School Association. Mary's elegance, charm and humor will be sadly missed by her 5 children and 13 grandchildren; son David DUNLOP (Beverly) and their children David, Ashley, Brittany, Kirsten; daughter Ann WILSON and her two sons Charles, Shaun, and their father Gordie; son Gerald (Lynn) and their children Kaleigh, Andrew, Theresa-Ann, James; son Shawn and his children Christie, Jerrianne, Liam and their mother Joannne; daughter Mary Patricia DUNLOP and her partner Elaine. She is survived by her three sisters, Charlotte FORGERON, Francis MacNEIL and Rita Heuser FARRELL. She is predeceased by her husband Charles David (Buddy) DUNLOP, her brothers Louis HEUSER, Hugh HEUSER, sisters Katherine McNEIL, and Caroline FRASER. The family will receive visitors at the Telegraph House and Motel Baddeck, Nova Scotia on Tuesday, October 17th 2006 from 2-8 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Saint Michaels Catholic Church in Baddeck on Wednesday, October 18th 2006 at 2: 00 p.m., Father P. McGillvray presiding. Burial to follow at Baddeck Forks Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Victoria County Memorial Hospital, Baddeck. Unexpectedly and peacefully in her sleep, on Wednesday, January 4th, 2006, in her 64th year. Beloved mother of Robin Valerie MacMASTER and Pamela Wendy ROBINSON and dear grandmother of six. Much loved sister of Al COCHRANE and Irene BILLINGER (née COCHRANE) and husband Ralph. Predeceased by her beloved mother Gladys COCHRANE (née RICE) and father Albert COCHRANE. Survived by loving aunts Olive RICE in West Sussex, England and Nellie McMEEKIN (née COCHRANE) of Bolsover, Ontario and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased also by Gramps Lorne MacMASTER. Predeceased by her parents Samuel MacMATH (1946) and Winnifred (GOODWIN) MacMATH (1950) 2 sisters Helen COLLIER (2003) and Grace THALER (2006) and by 3 brothers William (1914,) Hugh (1916) and Sheldon MacMATH (1940.) Esther was a graduate of London Normal School (1937) and the University of Western Ontario (1978). She was a social worker with the Huron County Children's Aid Society, Goderich for many years retiring in 1978.
