Of Thedford died peacefully surrounded by his family at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, February 4, 2006 in his 81st year. Born in Kingsville in 1925, he is survived by his beloved wife Harriet (née WILSON) BRUNER. Loving father to Gary, John and Lori, Terry and Nadia BRUNER, and Holly and Rob SCOTT. Cherished grandfather of Christy, Ryan, Steven, Wayne, Ashley, Kelly, Ben, Sam, and great-grandfather to Tayah. Predeceased by parents Rosie and Glen and brother Edsel BRUNER of Kingsville. He will be sadly missed by sister Madeline and Ralph BUTLER, brothers and sisters-in-laws, many nieces, nephews, and Friends. His presence will be missed by his faithful friend Boots. Bud joined the Ontario Provincial Police in 1950 and was stationed in London, Forest, and Toronto General Headquarters. He had and exemplary career including Honorary Aide-de-Camp to the Lieutenant Governors, Honorable William Ross MacDONALD, Pauline M. McGIBBON and John B. AIRD. He retired from the Ontario Provincial Police in 1982 with the rank of Inspector. His engaging presence will be missed by those whose hearts he touched. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 7, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the Gilpin Funeral Chapel, Forest on Wednesday, February 8, 2006 at 1: 30 p.m. Internment at Arkona Cemetery with the Reverend Catharine ASCAH officiating. Dearly loved by 15 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He will be fondly remembered also by the VAN ROMPU and LAMBOO families in the Netherlands. After a courageous battle with cancer at The Carpenter Hospice in Burlington on Tuesday, June 6, 2006 at 10: 10 a.m. Loved by her two sons, Ted and Steve, sister Jessie McGILL, and their families, Marguerite will be remembered for her keen intelligence and strong sense of independence. Born in 1913 and raised in Oshawa, Marguerite was a champion tennis player and a graduate of the University of Toronto where she met her husband, Wilf, a professional forester. They shared a life together first in northern Michigan where her sons were born, and then in the challenging conditions of Northern Ontario at Geraldton and Longlac until they retired to Lindsay. Wilf passed away shortly thereafter. Marguerite became a dedicated volunteer for Lindsay's hospital and art gallery until she moved to Burlington. Donations in Marguerite's memory to either the Canadian Cancer Society or Carpenter Hospice would be appreciated. A private celebration of her life will be held today.

John Williamson McGILL, died peacefully in his sleep on October 10th 2006 in his 75th year in Beaconsfield, England. Eternally in love with his wife Cydney with whom he savoured life, laughter and fine food and wine. Steadfast and adoring father to his daughters, Jennifer (Cedric CANU,) Colleen (James ROSENTHAL) and Sandra McGILL, whom he raised with his first wife Terrie McGILL. Loving▼ step-father to Campbell (Catherine), Raymond (Caroline) and Neill (Gina) RITCHIE. Adored as 'Archie' to his grandchildren Alexa and Keira McGILL, Jamieson, Caroline, Colin, Brennon, Lilly, and Carolina RITCHIE. He was delighted to be welcoming his two new grandchildren to the world next spring. A loving brother, uncle, cousin and loyal friend, John was loved by many. Born in Westmount to Air Vice Marshall Frank McGILL and Margaret WILLIAMSON, he was a Montrealer through and through, and maintained his roots in Montreal despite his retirement to the United Kingdom. He attended Trinity College School and graduated from McGill University with a degree in Commerce, where he was a celebrated member of the football team. He attained his advanced business education at Institut pour l'étude des méthodes de direction de l'entreprise in Lausannes, Switzerland precursor to Institute for Management Development as well as Harvard Business School. He was a man defined by his passions. He served with the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1951 to 1954. His love of aviation drew him to a career at Canadair, Trans Canada Airlines, as the first president of Air Jamaica in 1969 and he spent over 20 years of his career with Air Canada, culminating in his final position a s executive vice president. He completed the last 10 years of his career as Chief Executive Officer of Canadian Liquid Air but he never lost his passion for aviation. He was a pillar of the English community in Montreal. His benevolence is exemplified by 25 years of service to the Montreal General Hospital, where he sought to create of a medical centre of excellence. He lived life to the fullest applying the same enthusiasm to fly fishing, entertaining family and Friends with open arms, travelling the globe and always having adventures. He left an imprint on every life that he touched, a mentor to many whom he took under his wing. He lived his life with integrity and honour, and treated all people in his life with profound kindness and consideration. According to John's wishes, a private family service will be held. A reception to celebrate his life will be held for family and Friends. Invitations will follow. John is survived by his sister Isabel CAMERON and his cousin Barbara WHITLEY. Her boundless generosity and spirit touched hundreds of lives while she worked with the homeless at the Mustard Seed Street Ministry in Calgary. In loving memory of Elma Irene MacDOUGALL, July 2, 1915 - January 5, 2006.
Elma MacDOUGALL, a resident of the Centennial Manor, Little Current, died at the Manitoulin Health Centre, Little Current on Thursday, January 5, 2006 at the age of 90 years. She was born at Gabarus, Nova Scotia, daughter of the late James and Maria (Stacey) MacGILLIVRAY. Elma had a variety of interests, one of her favourites being playing Rook. She also enjoyed shuffleboard, fishing, dancing and listening to bagpipe music. She also had a great love of horses. Elma will be sadly missed by her loving family, but many fond memories will be cherished. Elma was predeceased by her husband Donald MacDOUGALL, loving and loved mother of Judy and husband Don BOWERMAN of Lively, Evelyn and husband Frank BOWERMAN of Mindemoya, Maria and husband Blake BOWERMAN of Espanola and Jim MacDOUGALL of Elliot Lake. Peacefully, at home surrounded by her loved ones on Wednesday February 1, 2006 after a courageous battle, Hazel May (McFALLS) DAVIS, born Feb 27, 1934, in her 72nd year. She leaves behind her childhood sweetheart, best friend and the love of her life, her husband Hugh DAVIS. Cherished mother of Heather MacGILLIVRAY of Lucan, and Michael DAVIS of Grand Bend. Passed away suddenly of heart failure at his residence in Toronto on March 19, 2006, age 64 years. Beloved husband and best friend of Heather (née LING) and proud and loving father of Craig, Elissa (Josh RANDELL) and Kate. He is survived in British Columbia by his brother Brett (Carol Ann GLOVER) and sisters Fawn (Jim) KNOX and Vicki (Doug) McKEE. Also survived in Prince Edward Island by his mother-in-law Dorothy (Baker LING) ROPER, brother-in-law Dr. Don (Mary K) LING and sister-in-law Karen (Lornie) WOOD. Graduate of University of British Columbia (B.A.) and Carleton (M.A. Canadian Studies.) A job at TVOntario in 1972 began his long-standing involvement in the Canadian television industry, primarily with his own company, Ironstar Communications. Upon retiring, Derek fulfilled the dream of a family trip to Africa and a successful assault of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Well known as a "people person", he will be greatly missed as a warm and loving family-man, a true friend, a respected businessman, an exceptional athlete, a fount of historical and geographical knowledge, and with a fondness for things Scottish, especially celebrating in the tradition of Robbie Burns.
