After a courageous battle with cancer at The Carpenter Hospice
in Burlington on Tuesday, June 6, 2006 at 10: 10 a.m. Loved by
her two sons, Ted and Steve, sister Jessie
McGILL, and their
families, Marguerite will be remembered for her keen intelligence
and strong sense of independence. Born in 1913 and raised in
Oshawa, Marguerite was a champion tennis player and a graduate
of the University of Toronto where she met her husband, Wilf,
a professional forester. They shared a life together first in
northern Michigan where her sons were born, and then in the challenging
conditions of Northern Ontario at Geraldton and Longlac until
they retired to Lindsay. Wilf passed away shortly thereafter.
Marguerite became a dedicated volunteer for Lindsay's hospital
and art gallery until she moved to Burlington. Donations in Marguerite's
memory to either the Canadian Cancer Society or Carpenter Hospice
would be appreciated. A private celebration of her life will
be held today.

he was a Montrealer through and through, and maintained his roots
in Montreal despite his retirement to the United Kingdom. He
attended Trinity College School and graduated from McGill University
with a degree in Commerce, where he was a celebrated member of
the football team. He attained his advanced business education
at Institut pour l'étude des méthodes de direction de l'entreprise
in Lausannes, Switzerland precursor to Institute for Management
Development as well as Harvard Business School. He was a man
defined by his passions. He served with the Royal Canadian Air
Force from 1951 to 1954. His love of aviation drew him to a career
at Canadair, Trans Canada Airlines, as the first president of
Air Jamaica in 1969 and he spent over 20 years of his career
with Air Canada, culminating in his final position a s executive
vice president. He completed the last 10 years of his career
as Chief Executive Officer of Canadian Liquid Air but he never
lost his passion for aviation. He was a pillar of the English
community in Montreal. His benevolence is exemplified by 25 years
of service to the Montreal General Hospital, where he sought
to create of a medical centre of excellence. He lived life to
the fullest applying the same enthusiasm to fly fishing, entertaining
family and Friends with open arms, travelling the globe and always
having adventures. He left an imprint on every life that he touched,
a mentor to many whom he took under his wing. He lived his life
with integrity and honour, and treated all people in his life
with profound kindness and consideration. According to John's
wishes, a private family service will be held. A reception to
celebrate his life will be held for family and Friends. Invitations
will follow. John is survived by his sister Isabel

Elma MacDOUGALL, a resident of the Centennial Manor, Little Current, died at
the Manitoulin Health Centre, Little Current on Thursday, January 5, 2006 at
the age of 90 years. She was born at Gabarus, Nova Scotia, daughter of the
late James and Maria (Stacey)

Elma had a variety of interests,
one of her favourites being playing Rook. She also enjoyed shuffleboard,
fishing, dancing and listening to bagpipe music. She also had a great love
of horses. Elma will be sadly missed by her loving family, but many fond
memories will be cherished. Elma was predeceased by her husband Donald

and a successful assault of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Well known as a
"people person", he will be greatly missed as a warm and loving
family-man, a true friend, a respected businessman, an exceptional
athlete, a fount of historical and geographical knowledge, and
with a fondness for things Scottish, especially celebrating in
the tradition of Robbie Burns. Friends may call at the Turner
