Centre, Toronto at the age of 89. Herm is predeceased by his
brother Art and will be dearly missed by his wife, Cecile, of 61 years,
his sister Louise, his 3 daughters Marilyn, Lindy and Joanne,
his 3 sons-in-law Martin, Hugh and Peter and his 6 grandchildren
Curtis, Kirstin, Keith, Kendra, Danyel and Rory. Herm was an
'Engineer's Engineer ' and dedicated his career to developing alternative
electrical power projects; in the process he helped Toronto earn
an award from the United Nations for achieving the largest greenhouse
gas reductions of any municipality in the world. He also patented
Canada's first 100 per cent recycle, anaerobic digestion-based
municipal waste system for unsorted household waste. In addition
he won many awards for his work, the most outstanding one being
earned in 1999, the Engineering Medal in the Engineering Excellence
Award, given by the Professional Engineers of Ontario. Friends

Suddenly, at Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on February 26, 2006,
at the age of 80, Formerly of London and Bayfield, he was a specialist
in high risk pregnancy and neonatal care, founding programs and
helping to establish new health policies as he moved around the
world. He was a Professor and Chairman of the Departments of
Obstetrics and Gynecology at St. Joseph's Hospital, London, the
Medical College of Ohio; University of Ottawa; and King Fahad
Hospital, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. A consultant on health policy
in Canada, Poland, the U.S. and Saudi Arabia, he was also for
many years an international examiner of the Royal College of
Physicians and Surgeons in Canada Great Britain and the West
Indies. He also served as president of the Ontario Medical Association
and Chairman of the Canadian Medical Association. During his
years in London, Jack was extensively involved in community projects,
including the building of Alumni Hall at University of Western
Ontario, where he was a graduate of the class of 1951. A native
of London, Jack had consuming interests in music as an avid jazz
fan and drummer. He founded or participated in dozens of jazz
groups and combos from his earliest days, beginning at Central
Collegiate with Neil
McKAY and His Orchestra in the 1940's. Jack
also loved the game of croquet, as a member of the Fort Lauderdale
Croquet Club and a founding member of the International Croquet
Club in Bayfield, where he spent so many happy summers surrounded
by Friends and family. He is survived by daughter Joan

(HAPON) (1950-2006)
Christina WALTERS passed away at home on October 26 in the arms
of her husband Vernon after a courageous battle with cancer.
Her family and many Friends will miss the joy she brought to
their lives with her warmth, wit and beautiful smile. Christina
leaves a wonderful legacy in the students and staff she inspired
in 32 years of teaching at Richard W. Scott, St. Aloysius and
Canadian Martyrs elementary schools in Toronto. A true Renaissance
woman, her passion for life was reflected in her love of art,
film, music and literature. Her family of Friends will remember
an engaging, vibrant, caring person, who was always there in
a time of need. Beloved daughter of Czeslawa and Stanley
HAPON
of Oshawa, sister of Edward, sister-in-law of Patti, Anne, Joan,
Larry and Wayne and cherished aunt of Paul, Jennifer, Alison,
LaRee, Sean, Jeremy and Luc. A private service will be held Saturday,
November 4, at Pine Hills Cemetery, 625 Birchmount Road, Toronto,
starting at noon. A reception will follow. A celebration of Christina's
life is being planned for all those who were blessed by knowing
her. Details will be announced on her CarePage website. Donations
in lieu of flowers are being accepted for the Christina Walters
Fund, which will be used annually to enhance student arts appreciation.

Born April 3 1921 Passed away peacefully November 3 2006
at Vancouver B.C.
During a long and brilliant career as a physician, Max touched
the lives of countless people. His compassion, understanding,
sense of community and love of life were surpassed only by a
profound sense of humility. Max's many interests included art,
music and travel, but the greatest love of his life was Kay,
is wife of 55 years, who passed away in 2000. Max is survived
by his loving sister Naomi, daughter Mona, sons Lorne David and
daughter-in-law Fely. He will be sadly missed by is grandchildren
Ari, Samuel and Benjamin and all the members of the Sanders family.

(PARENTE). Mum was
born in Totnes, South Devon, England and was much loved by many
nieces and nephews, family and Friends in England, New Zealand,
Australia and Canada. Mum immigrated to Canada in 1980 and settled
with her family in Sutton, later living in Bolton and more recently
in Waverley. Mum's warm generosity of spirit and sweet sense
of humour were an inspiration to all who knew her and she will
be sadly missed. The family extends warm thanks to the doctors,
nurses and full support team at the Royal Victoria Hospital,
Barrie. Words cannot express our appreciation. Cremation has
taken place. A Memorial Service to be held in the chapel of the
Taylor Funeral Home, 20846 Dalton Road, Sutton, Friday, January
6, 2006 at 1: 00 p.m. Spring Interment of cremated remains, Briar
Hill Cemetery, Sutton. If desired, memorial donations may be
made to the Royal Victoria Hospital Cancer Centre, 201 Georgian
Drive, Barrie, Ontario L4M 6M2 in Mum's memory. "May you walk
