Tony was born in Greece, joined the Royal Greek Navy and served
with the British Royal Navy during World War 2 when he met and
married his wife Florence in England. They emigrated to Canada
in 1953. He was employed by Canadian Pacific Railways until retirement
in 1983. Friends will be received at the Logan Funeral Home,
371 Dundas St. (between Waterloo and Colborne St.) on Sunday
from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Holy Trinity

KIRK, in his 104th year,
passed away peacefully, November 24th, at University Hospital,
London. He was the last surviving child from the family of Andrew W.
and Florence
(OWEN)
KIRK.
Norman's memories and stories of his
youth, growing up in Westminster Township, were shared with all
those who knew him. His positive attitude, his stubbornness,
his will to live and his good genes account for his longevity.
A widower since 1984, when his wife

(KILMER) died, he is
survived by his four children; Douglas and his wife Maureen
David
(Marla 2003;) Bonnie
STACPOOLE and husband Tony; Bob and
his wife Joan. His thirteen grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren
will dearly miss him. Having been blessed by having great neighbours,
he was able to live in his own house until very recently. He
had been a Canadian Pacific Railway pensioner for the past thirty-eight
years. He has been a member of Saint_John's Lodge 209a for over
79 years. He bowled and drove until his hundreth year. He enjoyed
being a part of what was happening around him. Visitation will
be on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with a Masonic service to
be held under the auspices of Saint_John's Lodge #209a at 7 p.m.
The funeral service will be held in the Needham Funeral Chapel
(520 Dundas Street, London) on Tuesday November 28, 2006 at 1 p.m.
Interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Memorial donations

Merilyn started driving school
bus in 1974 when her family moved to Sarnia. Over the years she
drove many students safely to and from school. She volunteered
for the Junior B Lacrosse team and got them to their games and
tournaments. She played in the Ladies Fast Ball League and later
become involved with helping coach along side Gerry. She volunteered
with the SMAA, stood by Gerry's side with the Sarnia Umpires
Association and was a member of the Sarnia Sting Booster Club.
Both Merilyn and Gerry met a lot of people throughout their short
life and they were inspired by all. A funeral service will be
held on Thursday, November 30, 2006 at 11: 00 a.m. at Smith Funeral
Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia. Cremation will follow. Family
and Friends will be received at the Smith Funeral Home on Wednesday
afternoon from 2 to 4 p.m. and evening from 7 to 9 p.m. Sympathy

STAEBLER, who celebrated her
100th birthday in January, died yesterday at the nursing home
where she had lived since suffering a minor stroke in 2003.
Ms. STAEBLER suffered another stroke on Saturday, said her longtime
friend Judy
CREIGHTON, a freelance food writer for the Canadian
Press.
Her cookbook Food That Really Schmecks: Mennonite Country Cooking,
published in 1968, brought Ms.
STAEBLER distinction and a wide
audience. Two other popular books in the Schmecks series were
to follow.
In 1996, she was awarded the Order of Canada.
Aside from cookbooks, Ms.
STAEBLER wrote historical non-fiction,
including Cape Breton Harbour, published in 1972.
Ms. STAEBLER was a voracious reader, and established the annual
Edna Staebler Award for Creative Non-Fiction in 1991.

STAEBLER was born January 15, 1906 in what is now
known as Kitchener, Ontario; at the time, it was known as Berlin.
She grew up in the Kitchener area before moving on to receive
a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Toronto in 1929 and
later graduate from teachers college.
Ms. STAEBLER married in 1933 but the couple divorced in 1962.
They had no children.

series, several creative non-fiction books and numerous magazine
articles included in publications such as Macleans, Saturday
Night, Canadian Living. She established the annual Edna Staebler
Award for Creative Non-Fiction in addition to many scholarships
and bursaries. Several of Canada's most well-known writers were
her Friends. Edna has been a mentor to people from all walks
of life. Edna received many awards and distinctions, the highest
becoming a Member of the Order of Canada. At Edna's request,
cremation has taken place. The family will arrange a private
gathering at Edna's Sunfish Lake home to celebrate her life.
A public tribute will be held at a later date. Condolences for

Lord on Sunday, April 23, 2006, at Mount Hope Centre for Long
Term Care in London after a valiant struggle with Alzheimer Disease
for 4 to 5 years. The last two and a half years were spent at
Mount Hope where she received much tender loving care for which
the family gives our heartfelt thanks. She lived in London, Ontario
for her entire life with the exception of a few years in Belmont
and Saint Thomas, Ontario. She will be sadly missed by all her
family after 70 years of happy family gatherings. Predeceased
