Born Elizabeth Ann DICKER in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, passed away on December 22nd, 2005 at age 82, peacefully in hospital after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's disease. Proud Women's Royal Naval Service war veteran. Beloved wife of Harold John SHORT for 58 years. Loving mother to her daughter Judy SHORT, her son Robert SHORT and her son-in-law Richard SORRENTINO. Caring grandmother to Eric SORRENTINO and his family. Devoted sister to William and Peggy DICKER, Patricia WILLEY, and Shirley DICKER, and fond aunt to their families. Predeceased by her parents Frank and Ann DICKER, by her parents-in-law John and Catherine SHORT, by her younger brother Fred DICKER and by her niece Sharon BROWN and nephew Doug DICKER. Cremation has taken place, as was her wish. A private memorial service in her honour was held with immediate family present on January 1, 2006. Betty was a kind, loving, gentle person whose presence will be dearly missed by her family and Friends.

Betty▼ is survived by her sister Jessie Catherine BANDEEN and her partner Donna ROURKE. She▼ was predeceased by her youngest brother John Drummond BANDEEN and his wife Virginia▼ SHORTT. She▼ is survived by their three children; Barbara BANDEEN and her husband Miles TOOMER and their daughter Jessica; Brad BANDEEN and his wife Sue▼ HUTCHINSON/HUTCHISON and their daughters Emily and Kimberly; and Janice BANDEEN and her husband David EALES and their children Julia and Philip. She is survived by her cousin Janice BROWN who spent many hours playing Scrabble with her. Betty's ancestors came to Canada in the mid 1800s from Scotland. She went to school in Duart, Rodney and Ridgetown where she excelled academically. She attended the University of Western Ontario on full scholarship from 1945-1949 and on graduating won two gold medals. She continued on to Harvard on full scholarship receiving her M.A. and Ph.D. She taught at Smith College while completing her graduate degree. She then returned to Canada and taught at Western Ontario as a professor of Old English. Betty had an insatiable love of reading. She had an extensive personal library and her greatest pleasure was spending time in the Widner Library at Harvard. She loved to cook and prepared many exotic dinners for her Friends. Betty enjoyed her nieces and nephews - never missing a birthday or Christmas with unusual gifts, often books. In later years she enjoyed traveling internationally with her niece Barbara TOOMER. Betty▼ grew up on the farm in Southern Ontario and through her aggressive reading and pursuit of knowledge became a respected teacher. Her sister Catherine became a medical doctor (Gynecology and Obstetrics, Western Ontario), her brother John (B.Sc. and M.Sc. Guelph, Ph.D. Wisconsin) was a Professor at Guelph, and her brother Robert (Ph.d. Duke) a business man. At Bluewater Health Palliative Care on Wednesday, November 29, 2006 Eldon Grant McGREGOR age 79 of Camlachie after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his loving family. Eldon was a member of Mandaumin United Church, a dedicated fan and volunteer of Sarnia Girls Hockey cheering on his granddaughters. A lifetime member of the Sarnia Yacht Club, an avid boater, camper, fisherman and loved the outdoors. Eldon was a well respected local contractor of E.G. McGregor Contracting. Loving husband of the late Marydell (SHORTT) McGREGOR (1996.) Dear father of Cathy and her husband Derwyn FREWIN of Sarnia, Adelle and her husband David STEWARDSON of Sarnia and the late Billy REESE. Loving father of Rob and his wife June of Shallow Lake, Beth FARROLL of Orangeville, Doug and his wife Kathy of Owen Sound, Joan LEVER and her husband John of Shelburne and Dale ROBINSON and her husband Eric of Wiarton. Lovingly remembered by his eighteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Survived by his daughter-in-law Diane TIMPERLEY. Predeceased by his son William, son-in-law Paul FARROLL and one brother Leonard SHOULDICE and his wife Margaret. In 1947 Bev and his wife Dorothy founded Shouldice Cement Products Ltd. Bev and Dorothy were also founders of Hallelujah Acres Canada Inc. Bev was a recipient of the Paul Harris Award as well as numerous other awards throughout his lifetime. Bev was the last surviving charter member of the Hepworth Shallow Lake Rotary Club. Friends may call at the Downs and son Funeral Home, Hepworth Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Service will be conducted from the Shallow Lake United Church Wednesday morning at 11: 00 a.m. with Rev. The family of the late Lisa PERKINS- ROBINSON extend sincere appreciation to family, Friends and neighbours who visited the funeral home called, sent cards, baking to our homes purchased Mass cards and memorial cards. Special thanks to Father Steve LACROIX. To Corry LAPOINTE and Don BUCHANAN and the Saint Mary's Choir we sincerely appreciated the wonderful music at Lisa's funeral Mass. We also thank the Zion Amabel United Church Women who hosted the luncheon and the Owen Sound City Police for their assistance with traffic control for the funeral. A very special thank you to the pall bearers, cousins of Lisa's - Ryan NICKELS, Mathew HALLIDAY, Andrew DOWNS, T.J. DOWNS, Darryl DOWNS and Rod PERKINS. We also gratefully acknowledge the readings at the funeral by John DOWNS, uncle of Lisa's and Rob SHOULDICE, special friend of Lisa's.
