interest in learning and music and was proud that he participated
in the first music festival of Lambton County. A Funeral Service
will be held on Thursday December 7, 2006 at 11 o'clock at Saint Peter's
Erindale Anglican Church, 1745 Dundas St. W. Mississauga. Private

offered safety and love while on her walking expeditions over
North America for the past twelve years. He is fondly remembered

Letha Mae SEAMAN passed away peacefully at the Wentworth Manor
on Monday October 9, 2006, at the age of 107 years. Letha was
born on April 8, 1899, in Unadilla, Nebraska, then moved with
her family to Truax, Saskatchewan at age thirteen. She was living
in the Avonlea area when she met her husband to be, an American
who came to assist in the harvest while Canada was fighting in
the First World War. When the Americans entered the war, he returned
and joined the U.S. expeditionary force. After the war he spent
a period in the army of occupation in Germany. In January 1920,
he returned to Canada and married Letha Mae. They lived in Rouleau,
Saskatchewan, where their four children were born. In 1944 they
moved to Saskatoon and then after a short period in New Westminster,
moved to Calgary in 1949. During World War 2 Letha took it upon
herself to knit and sew hundreds of articles for the armed services.
She was an avid housekeeper, and to the envy of her neighbours,
was a meticulous gardener. She resided at Wentworth Manor for
the past ten years. Letha is survived by sons Daryl K, Byron J
and Donald R.
SEAMAN; as well as thirteen grandchildren; thirty-three
great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. She
was predeceased by her husband of fifty-nine years, Byron Luther
SEAMAN in 1979; four sisters; one brother; and her daughter Dorothy
HAMILTON in 2006. A private memorial service will be held at

Kennard (1925-2006)
Passed away peacefully at age 80 after a brief illness at Scarborough
General Hospital on April 15 with his family around him. Born
on June 1, 1925 in Toronto to Arnold and Rebecca
SEARLES.
Grew
up in Barbados with his family, was a high achiever scholastically,
amateur boxer and all-round athlete. Returned to Canada at 19,
served as a gunner and signals operator in the Canadian Army
(1944-45) and then graduated with B.A., B.Sc. and M.D. (U.of
T., 1964). During this period he married and had five children.
He first practised as a staff physician at the Native Hospital
in Sioux Lookout, Ontario before going into family practice first
in Schreiber, Ontario then in Scarborough, Ontario until his
retirement in 2005. Survived by Thelma, his wife of 56 years,
children Gerald (Neda), Keith (Christine), Marilyn, Lynda (George),
Kenneth (Noel), daughter-in-law Karin and grandchildren Melanie,
Danielle, Josh, Darnel, Devon, Tia, Renay and Cara. He also leaves
his siblings Philippa, Edsworth (Kathleen), Ernesta, Cynthia,
Enid (Cecil), numerous nieces and nephews and their respective
spouses and children. Predeceased by his brothers Elden, Benson
and Kenneth Leroy. Gerald was outspoken but always kind, compassionate
and generous - a true humanitarian and animal lover. He was held
in great affection by colleagues, staff and his patients, many
of whom became his dearest Friends. Many thanks from the family

Funeral Home, 4164 Sheppard Ave. East, Agincourt (east of Kennedy Rd.)

Service at Rosewood Church of the Nazarene, 647 Milner Ave. (east
of Markham Rd.) on Friday at 11: 00 a.m. Interment Resthaven Memorial
