Suddenly in his home community on Saturday, November 4th, 2006 at the age of 22 years, Jordan ROOTE of Saugeen First Nation. son of Darlene CARTER and Warren JOHN. Brother of Jocelyn, Carolyn, Jarrett, Brooke, and Hayley CARTER, and Madeline John, and stepbrother of Christian, Devon, and Sarah JOHN, all of Saugeen First Nation. Jordan was traditionally raised by his grandparents Mary and the late Gerald ROOTE, and was “Wiikaanenh” brother to Michele, Allan, Stewart and Holly, and the late Phillip and Larry ROOTE. He is also predeceased by his paternal grandparents Doris JOHN and Aylmer PARKER. Jordan will be sadly missed by his cousins, extended family and Friends. Friends may call at the residence #881 French Bay Road from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9, Tuesday, November 7th, 2006. Funeral service will be conducted in the James Mason Centre, Saugeen First Nation on Wednesday at 1: 00 p.m. with the Rev. Maggie McLEOD officiating. Fatal crash victim identified; Police still investigating
The Sun Times, Tuesday, November 07, 2006
Police released the name of a 22-year-old Saugeen First Nation man who was killed in a car crash early Saturday morning in Southampton.
Jordan ROOTE was pronounced dead at the scene by a coroner. Another reserve resident, Matt ROOTE, 18, was injured in the crash.
He was taken to hospital in Southampton and then Owen Sound before being released.
Saugeen Shores Police say both were thrown from their vehicle. Police said in a news release the victims had been driving west on Cameron Drive in a silver Toyota Celica.
The car failed to negotiate the curve, struck a ditch, a tree and became airborne before coming to rest facing east on the extension of Tyendinaga Drive at about 3: 40 a.m. Saturday.
Two people came across the collision and were trying to help one of the victims when police arrived.
Police are still investigating.

Suddenly in Toronto on Saturday evening, December 2nd, 2006, at the age of 45 years, Rick JACOBS of Southampton and formerly of Meaford. Husband of the former Trudy KEWAGESHIG. Father of Richard “Rich”, and Joseph “Joey”, both of Southampton. Papa to Sharissa. He is survived by his mother Rita JACOBS of Sagamok First Nation, by his daughter-in-law Karissa RITCHIE of Southampton, by his brothers Irwin, Roger, Peter, and John JACOBS, and Tim RITCHIE, and by his sisters Kim TOULOUSE and Donna JACOBS and their families. Brother-in-law to Faith CROWE, Bonnie MASON, Monica ROOTE, Jackie KEWAGESHIG, Larry KEWAGESHIG and Tom KEWAGESHIG and their families. Age 34, slipped into an eternal sleep surrounded by loving family on December 6th, 2006, in Vancouver. She will be missed by her loving soulmate, David ROOTMAN; her mother and father, Jesse, Jack and partner Dale WILLOWS, and her brother David; as well as many Friends and close relatives in the Rootman (Barb, Irv, Deb and Adam), Busby and Quarter families. A special thanks to her oncologist, Doctor Gelman, and the wonderful staff of Unit 5 East and West of the British Columbia Cancer Agency, and other supportive health practitioners. In lieu of flowers, donations in Zoey Quarter's memory can be made to the Mount Pleasant Community Centre, 3161 Ontario Street, Vancouver V5T 2S1, (604) 713-1888. Following a cremation, a celebration of Zoey's life was held in Vancouver, Sunday, December 10th, and another will be held in Toronto on Sunday, December 17th, 1 p.m., at 39 Parliament St. (Distillery District), the Amenities Room, followed by a reception in the Amenities Room, and visiting at apartment 413. JONKER, Nicolette M. (1944-2006)
Surrounded by family, Nicolette passed away peacefully at Saint Michael's Hospital Palliative Care Unit on July 4, 2006, after a valiant struggle with cancer. She will be forever missed by her life partner and best friend Mike HRYSZKO. Predeceased by her parents, Garrelt and Margaretha JONKER. Survived by siblings: Ena VAN ROOYEN (John), Gus (Tina), Tina GOLDIN (Bill), Vince (Edwina), and Carla (Tim GARRISON) and their families in Canada and the United States. Fondly remembered by her extended family and Friends in Holland. Nicolette was born in Vleuten, Holland and emigrated to Canada with her parents in 1957, only to return a few years later to study, work and live there until 1978. Returning to Canada as a Registered Nurse, she cared for patients in many hospitals but longest of all at Toronto's Saint Michael's, her favourite. Her caring attitude endeared her to her patients who were her greatest source of personal and professional satisfaction. Nicolette will be remembered by her nursing colleagues for her conscientious professionalism, tireless dedication and independent mind. To stay current in her profession, she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Health Studies from York University in 1994. Always the caregiver, that attitude remained with her even as she became a patient herself. During her illness, Nicolette's many Friends and family lent a helping hand with home duties and driving to medical appointments. She had a gift for Friendship which was returned in abundance. The family would like to thank all of those Friends who were always there when needed. Special thanks to Doctors V. CELLARIUS and J. ARVANITIS of Mt. Sinai Hospital, and staff of the Community Care Access Centre who provided the excellent care which permitted her to stay at home for a long time. A heart felt thank you to Doctor Ellen WARNER of Sunnybrook Hospital for years of compassionate care. Thank you to Doctor HAQ and staff of the Medical Day Care Unit and the staff of the Palliative Care Unit of Saint Michael's Hospital who so ably provided compassionate care in the final stages of her illness. The spiritual guidance given by Pastor John TENYENHUIS was enormously helpful and very much appreciated. Cremation having taken place, a Memorial Celebration will be held at the Christian Reformed Church, 800 Burnhamthorpe Rd, Etobicoke on August 11th at 2: 00 p.m. If desired, donations in memory of Nicolette M.
