It was four years ago today
That God called you to heaven to stay.
We miss all the times we used to share
But in our hearts, you are always there.
Wherever we go or whatever we do,
Memories keep us close to you.
Never more than a thought away,
Lovingly remembered every day, Mom.
Please know we miss you so much,
You're forever in our hearts.

REIMER,
John
On November 29, 2006, just before midnight, John
REIMER took
a last, quiet breath and passed away. He spent 76 years living
a wonderful life, full of adventure, Friendship and love. He
battled Multiple Sclerosis for several years and then, for the
past 3 years, cancer, all without complaint. A year ago, he explained
the lack of medical information he shared with his Friends by
saying 'It doesn't make me feel any better and it only makes
them feel worse'. He died far too soon: cancer ended his journey.
John REIMER, who grew up in the Fraser Valley, was a respected
professional in his field, a great story teller and listener,
an investor and entrepreneur, a sportsman and a sports fan, but
most importantly he was a husband, a father and a grandfather.
Someone who defined the concept of a 'gentleman' and a 'man',
he always had a smile on his face. He built many life long Friendships
as a result of his business travels across Canada and the United
States and treated everyone with whom he came in contact with
great respect. To him, there were neither servants nor kings,
just people. John leaves behind him a world made better by his
kindness and generosity. John is survived by his wife Pat, who
stood bravely at his side during his battle with cancer and Mississippi,
just as she did during the 53 years they spent together as husband
and wife . His oldest son, Tom (along with his wife, Kim and son,
Matthew) and his youngest son, Jeff (along his wife, Kathy, their
two daughters, Kerriann and Alex) will always love and miss him.
He's now gone to a peaceful place where he'll rejoin members
of the family who have gone before him. We can all imagine him
walking his dogs along the edge of the river, dressed warmly,
surely wearing his trusted gum boats and a faded golf hat. It
may be a cloudy, misty day, but it doesn't matter, he's feeling
no pain. He's watching the ducks and geese fly by, and spots
an old cedar log washed up on the shore. The Lions have just
won the Grey Cup and you can almost hear him say, 'I wonder…?'
John REIMER is gone but certainly never, ever forgotten. The
family would like to send a very special, heartfelt thank you
to all the incredible care givers, both at home and in the hospital,
who aided Pat in John's final days. A family service will take
place at Oceanview Burial Park in Burnaby, British Columbia and
a celebration of John's life will take place in the New Year.
As expressions of sympathy, contributions to The Canadian Cancer
Society (www.cancer.ca), The Mississippi Society (www.mssociety.ca)
or the Heart and Stroke Foundation (www.heartandstroke.ca) would
be appreciated by the family.

TORRANCE,
Robert
Joseph (1922-2006)
Born May 22, 1922 in Edmonton, Alberta. Predeceased by his parents
Jack and Bessie, as well as his only brother Ken. Bob leaves
to mourn, his dear wife of 61 years, Margaret Georgena
SMITH
of Queenston, Ontario, his sister-in-law Lois
TORRANCE and family,
extended families and Friends throughout Canada and the U.S.A.
Active as a youth in sports, volunteerism, leadership and wartime
service, Bob prepared for his distinguished Young Men's Christian
Association career with a B.Comm. and B.S.W. (U of A) and M.S.W.
(University of British Columbia). There followed Y postings in
West Vancouver, Portland, Oregon, and the National Young Men's
Christian Association, Toronto. After moving to Queenston, Ontario
in 1974, he completed his PhD through the U of T, and Ontario
Institute for Studies in Education. He continued after retirement
to research and publish the National Young Men's Christian Association
History Project, 1950 to 1984, and to serve on the Y's National
Archives Committee. Bob's remarkable Y career as a builder of
bridges and creator of linkages with whomever he met, saw this
quiet, self-effacing, humorous man, conferred with Companion
of the Fellowship of Honour (Young Men's Christian Association,
1993). His lifelong example of faith in action as a member, activist,
and lay person in the United Church of Canada, saw him build
Friendships and liaisons while working and travelling in Canada,
the U.S., Europe, Russia and the Middle East, often remembering
those he met with a snapshot memento or sharing a humbug from
his candy pouch. St. Stephen's College, Edmonton, awarded Bob
the D.D. Honouris Causa, in 1994. Bob worked to create change
and move the world to a more inclusive society that honoured
all. He died Saturday, April 15, 2006. The family thanks Doctor David
REIMER and staff at Chateau Gardens, Niagara-on-the-Lake, for
the special care he received there, and is especially grateful
for the compassion and support of Queenston neighbours, the Duc-Trianos
and the Barratts. A celebration of Bob's life will be held in
the Addison Hall, beside Saint Mark's Anglican Church, 41 Byron
Street, Niagara-on-the-Lake, on Thursday, April 27, 2006 at 11: 00 a.m.
If desired, remembrances may be made to the Stephen Lewis Foundation,
