Living in several cities in Quebec and Ontario, he graduated
from Glebe Collegiate in Ottawa. Bob completed a tour with the
428 (Ghost) Squadron, 6 Group in Middleton, St. George, England,
leaving the services as a Squadron Leader with a D.F.C. He will
be deeply missed by surviving air force mates Bruce Betcher,
Dougie Douglas, Bill (Red) Brown, Bill Kruse, Chuck Carter, and
Frank Ditchburn. During his working life he was employed with
several companies including Tremco, Imperial Oil and I.T.T. /
Tyco Grinnell before retiring in 1990 in Burlington, Ontario.
Bob enjoyed his home and followed the fortunes of the Canadian
Football League Ottawa Roughriders and the National Hockey League
Toronto Maple Leafs. Active until recently, he enjoyed playing
golf with Marion and other Friends. The family would like to

nephews in England and Scotland. David led a full and exemplary
life. He was a leader, a provider, a partner and a role model
whose many virtues included charity, tolerance, patience and
kindness. David espoused the rights of the individual and the
individual's responsibility to the greater good by advocating
civil liberties and supporting many charities. He enjoyed a good
laugh, a long sail, a dance with his wife, and a family celebration.
The family's thanks are extended to the Oncology unit of Sunnybrook
Hospital, in particular Doctors Danjoux and Ko and their staff,
and the palliative care staff of Providence Hospital. A private
ceremony celebrating David's life was held on October 3, 2006.
David recognized, and was grateful for, his good fortune. In
lieu of donations or flowers, he would have liked each of us
to perform an act of charity for someone less fortunate. In the
words of his grand_sons, good job Papa. May he rest in peace.
