Passed away peacefully after a short illness at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Barrie, on Tuesday, December 12th, 2006 in her 70th year. Adored and loving mother of Allison PURCELL and her husband Sean, and Lori VARTY and her husband Peter. Devoted grandmother of Matthew, Brendan, Aislinn, Caileigh, Zachary, Carys, and Jacob. Dear sister of Glenda LOBBAN and and her husband Don and brother Alan SHAW all of Owen Sound, and late infant brother Robert. Beloved daughter of the late Willard and Hazel SHAW of Owen Sound, and predeceased by her sister-in-law Velma SHAW. Missed by nephew Scott and nieces Jennifer, Corinne, and Karen. Audrey was a proud graduate of the R.V.H. School of Nursing. As an R.N., Audrey touched many lives with her kind and gentle spirit. All who knew her will greatly miss her smile, her laugh, her hugs, and her loving words of wisdom that provided comfort and direction. Grandfather of Brenna, Andrea, Gregory and Matthew HABER and Bram and Liam DAWSON. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Mary and Norman SATTERFIELD, Andrew (deceased) and Kathy RITTICH, and Alice and Margaret McCOOL. Dear companion of Patricia PARR. Eugene was a longtime member of the Toronto Symphony and a teacher at the Faculty of Music at the University of Toronto since its inception. The family would like to extend its thanks to his many Friends and colleagues for their thoughts and kindness during his illness; he valued you all very much. At Elizabeth Bruyere Health Center, Ottawa on Friday, September 22, 2006. So much to say about Helen: daughter of Mabel and Alg PURCHASE sister to John, Gerald, Greg and Ross. She forged her own path as she graduated from the University of Manitoba, went teaching in rural Manitoba with her life-long friend Babs, was an executive assistant in Trans Canada Airlines's offices in Montreal, married Bob as he embarked on his career as Trade Commissioner and Ambassador, and bore and raised Bill, Michael and Mary, in addition to helping Charlotte through some of her early years. Over the years Helen offered so many Canadian visitors welcome and refuge in her home - in Manila, Sao Paulo, Wellington, Moscow, Baghdad and Chicago, while representing Canada with dignity and humour. Home in Canada, Helen enjoyed great success in Ottawa as a Royal-Lepage real estate agent and volunteered with the Sisters of Charity at their Center for Immigrants and Refugees. Above all she loved her role as Nana to Emma. She loved and was grateful for her daughter-in-law Gana and son-in-law Chris. A life well lived in her own inimitable way. She will be missed by all who knew her and loved forever by her family. We live in the confidence that God will welcome her as one of his own. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair and McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, Ottawa (613-233-1143) from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, September 26th. Donald will be sadly missed by his brother George James (Jim) PURDIE and his wife Elaine. Born July 3rd, 1935 in Orillia, Ontario to John George Wilson PURDIE and Dorothy Luella PURDIE (CLEGG,) Don grew up in Kirkland Lake, Ontario and graduated high school from Ridley College in 1954, and University of Toronto Engineering in 1958. Don worked as a mechanical engineer at Falconbridge for 35 years, and upon his retirement continued to spend time with things he loved - his wife, his children, his extended family, the cottage at Birch Island, Ontario, his golf game (and the games of his various playing partners) and his Friends. Don had a wonderful sense of humour, a sparkle in his eye, and a real desire to live life to the fullest. Donald will be missed by all those who knew him and his care and concern for this wife Jane will not be forgotten. Funeral services were held in Sudbury on Tuesday, June 27. Cremation. It is with great sadness that the Schaefer family announces the sudden passing of Vera Adele SCHAEFER from Forest, Ontario (formerly Ilderton). Survived by best friend and loving husband Morris, and her children Maurice (Mary Ann) SCHAEFER, Brenda (Dave) TALBOT, Jane (Randy) PEARN, Dawn SCHAEFER, John (Kim) SCHAEFER, Debbie (Bill) BARNETT and Shawn (Angela) SCHAEFER. Predeceased by daughter Linda (Rick) LANGDOWN in 1999 and sister Barb PULLEN in 2000. Vera will be sadly missed by sisters Marg PURDY and Joan STRUCKETT and by half brother Richard GAIL, 17 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. Vera was an avid gardener and talented wood carver. She was an active member of Christ Anglican Church in Forest. At Vera's request, there will be no funeral service. ROGERS, John Victor "Vic" (May 24, 1933-March 29, 2006)
John Victor " Vic" ROGERS, our ultimate Prostate Cancer Warrior, faced his final uphill battle and challenge just as he lived always believing that something good was possible. He died peacefully in Calgary, confident in the love of his family, Friends and God. Vic is survived by his wife of forty-seven years, Marion (née ATWELL) ROGERS; their children, Carolyn ROGERS of Calgary James "Jim" ROGERS and his wife Lisanne (née LOCKYER) of Houston and Sheryl PURDY and her husband Stormont of Calgary. Vic is survived by seven grandchildren; brother Thomas ROGERS and brother-in-law Gordon ATWELL, both of Toronto. He was predeceased by his parents Muriel and Jack ROGERS; sister-in-law Carol ATWELL and granddaughter Heather PURDY. Vic was born in Montreal, Quebec; spent eleven years in London, Ontario; then chose to live in Calgary and Harvie Heights for the rest of his life. Vic spent his entire business career in the Investment Business, beginning with Nesbitt Thompson in Montreal; transferring with Northwest Territories to London, Ontario, then to Calgary where he eventually started Rogers and Partners Securities Inc. He particularly enjoyed financing small companies. Vic was a member of the Delta Upsilon Fraternity (McGill University) and was a graduate of the University of Western Ontario (now Ivey) Business School (M.B.A.). Vic was a volunteer for dozens of organizations, including the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede and the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, and served on many boards of directors and executive committees.
