POLLARD. In his infancy, the family
returned to England (Fenny Stratford, Bucks) and returned to
Preston ten years later. He was well known as a middle distance
runner in his young years in Waterloo County. He served with
the Highland Light Infantry during World War 2 as an Officer
(The Battle of the Scheldt). After the War, he joined the Ministry
of Correctional Services. He served as one of Ontario's first
Adult Probation Officers, then institutions in Galt, Guelph Reformatory
and was Superintendent of Brookside School in Cobourg for 20 years.
They retired in Preston. He was a lifelong member of King Street
Baptist Church in Preston and was a member of Calvary Baptist
Church in Cobourg for many years. His was a life well-lived.
Our dad and grandfather will be greatly missed. "I have fought
a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith."
2nd Timothy 4.7 A graveside service will be held on Wednesday,
September 20, 2006 at Parklawn Cemetery, Cambridge, Ontario at

Byrl died peacefully on April 4, 2006 in Petrolia. She was born
July 20, 1921 in West Lorne, and while most recently of Petrolia
and Sarnia, she was previously a long time resident of Toronto.
Byrl served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War 2.
Byrl▲ was predeceased by her parents, Philip and Janet

(née POLLARD) and her four brothers Ivan, Glen, Donald and John.
She will be missed by her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces
and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews. A special thank
you to the wonderful staff at Fiddick's Nursing Home, in Petrolia,
who provided the utmost in care, compassion, love and warmth
during the last three years of her life. Visitation will be held
Friday, April 7 from 7 to 9 p.m. at D.J. Robb Funeral Home in
Sarnia. Funeral service to be held on Saturday, April 8 at 11: 30 a.m.
at D.J. Robb Funeral Home Chapel, 102 Victoria Street North,
Sarnia, 519-336-6042. Donations are requested, in lieu of flowers,
to The Salvation Army, The Bruce Trail Association, or The Fiddick's
