PECK, Fleda " Bunny" (née BRILHART)
Eleven weeks after her husband's passing, Bunny followed him quietly and with dignity on May 9, 2006, surrounded by her family. Predeceased by her parents Mary (née PEABODY) and James BRILHART. Stead-fast wife of the late Robert (Bob) A. PECK for 65 years, beloved mother of Evelyn REID, Natalie CHAPMAN, Robert Jr. and Jonathan. Deeply missed by granddaughter Linda CHRISTIE, great-granddaughter Samantha, grand_sons Jeremy, Liam and Andrew CHAPMAN and Tomas PECK. She is fondly remembered by in-laws Hélène and Cy COOPER of Ottawa, nephew Georges PECK of Vancouver and Paul CHAPMAN. Bunny was a long-time kindergarten and elementary teacher on the West Island of Montreal. She was a dedicated volunteer with the provincial and federal Liberal parties. Bunny followed Bob to live in Nigeria, Algeria and Cameroun where her sense of humour and friendliness endeared her to all. Many thanks to her caregivers Nancy and Irene Durdon, Lena Martin and the many others, including the staff at the Denis Benjamin Viger Centre, who helped her through the difficult last years with love and respect. The family will celebrate the lives of both Bob and Bunny at a gathering on Wednesday June 14 at the Denis Benjamin Viger Centre, 3292 Cherrier, Ile Bizard at 4 p.m. A donation may be made in Bunny's memory to the West Island Association for the Intellectually Handicapped, 111 Donegani, Pointe Claire, Québec H9R 2W3, (514) 694-7090.

It is with great sadness that the family of David BLACKIE announces his passing, peacefully in his sleep at Park Lane Terrace in Paris on Tuesday, March 7, 2006, in his 87th year; predeceased by his ever loved wife of 55 years Margaret "Peggy" BLACKIE on January 1, 2004. David will be sadly missed by his loving children Linda NASH (David) of Stoney Creek and Jenepher OLDROYD (Bill) of Brantford; cherished Papa to Stuart, Lyndsey and Tyler; survived by his brothers and sisters Jock, Pat (Ian) BENNETT, all of Inverness, Scotland, Joyce PEACE of England, Charlie (Betty) of Brantford, Rena (Evan) MacDONALD of Bayfield; predeceased by sister Betty MASON and brother George. David will be remembered as a loving brother-in-law by Rosa of Brantford, Beth (Jeffrey), Chrissie (Peter), Rhoda and Alister all of England; dearly missed by his best friend of many years Roddy GRANT. David BLACKIE served in the Second World War touring in Burma, East Indochina, India and Africa. He retired from the Brant County Board of Education after 29 years in 1984, was Past President of the Sons of Scotland and was an active member of Lodge St. Andrew, Masonic Lodge in Scotland and Reba Lodge #515 when he arrived in Canada. David BLACKIE will be always remembered as having a great sense of humour, always having a good joke to tell. David will be missed by all whose lives he touched. Predeceased in 1994 by his wife of 52 years, Nancy Jane (WATERS.) Survived by his sons, Richard Kirkpatrick (Barbara) of LaHave, Nova Scotia and John Waters (Janet) of Peterborough, Ontario; grandchildren Tricia (Simon BRASSINGTON,) Worcestershire, England; Andrew, Michael and Richard of Peterborough; and great-grand_son Sam BRASSINGTON; sister Barbara PEACE of Toronto. Graduate of Upper Canada College and University of Western Ontario (1949 Gold Medalist). Served with the Royal Canadian Navy (R.C.N.V.R.) (1939-1945) retiring with the rank of Lieutenant-Commander. Joined Bowater Mersey, Liverpool, in 1950; General Manager of Bowater Newfoundland Ltd., Cornerbrook, Newfoundland (1965-1968); Vice-President of Sales and later President and Chief Executive Officer of Bowater North America Corporation, Greenwich, Connecticut. (1968-1984), and Chairman until his retirement in 1984. During his working career Hugh served on many Corporate Boards of Directors and Advisory Committees. Throughout his life he devoted many hours to chairing and serving on Boards for educational, civic and charitable organizations in Canada and the United States. It is of great sadness that our family announce the passing of Edward Maurice PEAIRE after a prolonged and brave fight with cancer on Saturday June 17, 2006 at Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital, at the age of 77. He will be fondly missed by his wife Lorraine, daughters Laurie (Doug) WILLIAMS, Emily (Dennis) WILLIAMS, sons Greg (Lori) PEAIRE and James PEAIRE. He will be missed by his beloved grandchildren Madeline and Alacia TINDALE, Erin, Kelly, and Carly WILLIAMS, Aidan and Hannah PEAIRE. Edward also leaves behind his brothers James PEAIRE and Robert PEAIRE, as well as many nieces and nephews. Edward was a life long employee at The Ford Motor Company in both Oakville and Bramalea. Husband for 67 years of Ada Lorraine ELLIOT/ELLIOTT (2005,) father of Joy Donna (Sanford) BENDER of Guelph and David William (Shirley) PEAL of Winnipeg. Survived by sister Gloria (Dave) NELSON, grandchildren Donna (Bryan) HOLST and Douglas SMITH and great-grandchildren Erika, Geordan, Hayley and Wyatt. Predeceased by siblings: Irene, Ruth, Joy and Bradley and youngest son James Robert PEAL (1969.) Ham served with the 12th Field Royal Canadian Artillery in France from June 6 to July 18, 1944; was a member of the 12th Field Regiment Association, a member and past president of Branch 197 Royal Canadian Legion in Acton, a former volunteer fire-fighter and councilor for the Town of Acton, as well as an original member of "Acton's Pride and Joy: The Five Straws". Following World War 2, Ham spent most of his working years in the heavy trucking industry, making the move from power unit to desk in the late '60s with Trimac Transportation System, with whom he served as operations and branch manager in various locations until his retirement in 1985. Age 81 years resident of Pinewood Court, Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on October 6, 2006. Born in Wakefield, England, she was raised and educated in England, served in the British Armed Forces during World War 2 and later married her husband Stuart Raymond ROGERSON. Both immigrated to Canada in 1957 with their first son Keith. Both Stuart and Joan worked for many years in the restaurant/hospitality business in southern Ontario before her husband Stuart's death in 1979. Joan later moved with her two sons to Terrace Bay, Ontario and worked at Birchwood Terrace Senior Citizens home as Social Activities Coordinator until retirement. Joan remarried to Arthur LEBLANC while living in Terrace Bay then moved to Schreiber, Ontario. Joan was an active member of Saint_John's Anglican Church in Schreiber playing the organ, and serving as lay Minister. Joan is survived by two sons, Keith Stuart ROGERSON (Julia) and Malcolm (Mac) John ROGERSON (Bonnie), her Grandchildren James (Sherry), Paul (Shelly), Erin (Terry) and Joshua, her great-grandchildren Ilonna and Adania, her niece Jennifer (Pat) WILKIE, nephews Roger and Malcolm SUTTON and special Friends Diane and Fred PEARCE, Nancy STARK and Valerie HABERERN. Peacefully, at London Health Sciences Centre, Victoria Hospital, in her 90th year. Kay was born June 1, 1916 in North Wales, the daughter of Clara and Walter COOKE. She trained as a nurse and served with the Red Cross in India in the second World War. She and her husband Donald emigrated to Canada in 1953. She and her family lived in Mooretown, Ontario and Toronto, and Kay settled in London in 1972. She worked on the Burn Unit of Victoria Hospital until her retirement in 1981. She was the loving mother of Janet and her husband Paul RUFFELL, Hilary and her husband Richard HENLEY, Christopher PEARCE and Michael and his wife Janet PEARCE. She will be missed by grandchildren Sally, Jesse and his wife Melissa HENLEY, Emily RUFFELL and her husband David CARRUTHERS, Fraser, Matthew and Nathan RUFFELL, Christopher and Jackie PEARCE and great granddaughter Sophie CARRUTHERS. Kay was predeceased by her husband Donald in 1969, and all her siblings. Cremation has taken place. She is the only daughter of the late Doctor Hubert and the late Doctor Margaret O'Neil POCOCK. She▼ is the sister of the late Hubert (Father Bud,) the late John (Jack and Nancy,) the late Neil O'NEIL, and Gerald (Father Gerry) POCOCK. Doctor▼ POCOCK was a graduate of the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (Missouri) with post graduate specialization in Pediatrics from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathy (Pennsylvania). She maintained a private practice from her downtown Toronto office for over 50 years. "Dr. Rose" also served as a communication officer with the Canadian Armed Forces during World War 2 and was stationed in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Alex passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family in Port Perry after a brief illness. He will be sadly missed by wife of 61 years Trudie, daughters Anne PEARCE, Claire MARSH and her husband Doug, Margaret and her partner Graham McINTOSH, and his grandchildren Lorin, Leah, and Emma PEARCE, and John, Emily, Helen and Charlotte MARSH. Predeceased by his daughter Alison ILNYCKYJ and granddaughter Jessica. After serving as a flying officer in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War 2, Alex graduated in Mechanical Engineering from Queen's University in 1950. He enjoyed working for several manufacturing firms and for the last 28 years of his working life was president of Cole Steel in Toronto and Standard Desk in Montreal. Alex enjoyed politics, golf, and his boat, the "Meeting Adjourned" docked at Lefroy Harbour. He was a very active member of The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Toronto, The Canadian Council of Christian and Jews, The Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario, The Canadian Business Equipment Manufacturer's Association, and the Bayview Golf and Country Club. The family sincerely appreciates the compassionate care he received at Port Perry Hospital from the wonderful nursing staff and Doctor DAYAL. She is the only daughter of the late Doctor Hubert and the late Doctor Margaret O'Neil POCOCK. She▲ is the sister of the late Hubert (Father Bud,) the late John (Jack and Nancy), the late Neil O'Neil, and Gerald (Father Gerry) POCOCK. Doctor▲ POCOCK was a graduate of the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (Missouri) with post graduate specialization in pediatrics from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathy (Pennsylvania). She maintained a private practice from her downtown Toronto office for over 50 years. "Dr. Rose" also served as a communication officer with the Canadian Armed Forces during World War 2 and was stationed in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
