Formerly a longtime (29 years) employee of Sangamo in Leaside, he changed careers mid life to continue employment with the North York Board of Education, until retirement age. He was active for many years in the Thornhill Horticultural Society. Charlie was blessed with a healthy and happy life and will be missed by many, in particular his wife Jean of 61 years, his son Jim, his daughter Ellen, son-in-law Mike PARISE, grandchildren Jean-Paul, and Michelle. On Saturday, June 3, 2006 Jake died at home surrounded by his family and Friends, having lived a full and accomplished life full of love, laughter and with almost all of his ambitions and wishes fulfilled. He will be sorely missed by his wife of 55 years, Nancy, his children, their spouses and grandchildren, Gillian Peter and Leslie; Ian, Robin, Christopher, Daniel and Rachael and Margot, Peter, Jake and Anne. All of the family always felt his love, support and delight in their successes and sought his wisdom and gentle counsel when things went awry. After serving in Canada's navy Jake graduated with a B.Comm. from the University of Toronto and then from Osgoode Hall. Jake was a partner at Blake, Cassels and Graydon LLP, where he began his practice of law in 1953. He was called to the Bar in Ontario, Saskatchewan, and Alberta and was named Queen's Counsel in 1966. His practice was commercial litigation before all levels of all courts and he participated in numerous special inquiries and administrative tribunals. He was a member of the Advocates Society, a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, and the first recipient of the Douglas K. Laidlaw Medal for Outstanding Advocacy in 1990. He was known for his ability to analyze cases quickly and completely and was a confident and accomplished advocate. He was also a natural teacher and a mentor to many young lawyers, both in his firm and throughout the profession. When Jake reduced his legal practice, he was appointed a Commissioner of the Ontario Securities Commission where he gladly contributed his wisdom and experience. Jake was an exceptional athlete being an accomplished skier, fly fisher, golfer, sailor and horseman, the latter being an interest which would occupy an important place in his later years. He was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Woodbine Entertainment Group from the mid-eighties, having served as Chair and then Honourary Chair at Woodbine where he was deeply respected for his work that ensured thoroughbred and harness racing in the Province of Ontario continued to thrive. Winning a major stakes race at Woodbine remains an unfulfilled wish, but perhaps that's yet to come. The family would like to express their deepest thanks to all of the health care professionals who cared for Jake and made it possible for him to enjoy life and then to die at home, as he wished. Particular thanks to Doctor Vincent MAIDA and Kim JOYCE for all of their support at home and to Doctor Pauline PARISER, a wise, wonderful and caring family physician. We would also like to thank Judy TUTTY, Jake's 'right hand' of so many years and his Friends John S. BURNS, Alan CAVENAGH, John R. EVANS, Donald ROSS, and David WILLMOT who provided love and support throughout his illness. Woodbine Racetrack is the location chosen for a celebration of Jake's life where Friends and family will gather on June 23 in the Northern Dancer Room from 3: 30 p.m. to 5: 30 p.m., share memories of Jake, and perhaps participate in the sport he loved. Founder and co-chair of the Truelove/Dell Scholarship Fund, Director Emeritus of Peace by Peace. Member of the Toronto Transit Commission A.C.A.T. committee and many other charitable projects. Alison's tireless efforts have helped countless people. She will be sorely missed. It is with great sorrow that we announce the unexpected death of Steen Hannibal NIELSEN on Friday, February 24, 2006 at the Saint Thomas-Elgin General Hospital. He was born October 10, 1950, in Copenhagen, Denmark and was a proud Dane throughout his life. He is predeceased by his parents Inge and Bent NIELSEN. He was the best friend, soul-mate and husband of Arlene (PARK) NIELSEN. Together they have created many happy memories that she will cherish forever. He was the proud and devoted father of Mindi and Bibi NIELSEN and Shane, Cole and Jess TARRY. His first grand_son is due to arrive at the end of April. He will be missed by his sister Helle and James FISHER and their children Paul, Kim, Heidi and Chad of Burlington and his brother Jan and Margrete and their son Justin. Steen was there to lend a hand or support whenever it was needed! To the Park family he was affectionately known as "The Web Master" as he skillfully maintained the web site for the Park Family Football Pool. He will be missed by Denise STINSON, Lindsay and Brandon BOYKO and Haley STINSON, Gord and Diane PARK, Alicia, Jessica and Jared and John and Nancy PARK, Ashley and Jon. Steen has touched many lives throughout his teaching career. He was currently teaching at Southwold Public School. Ethel RAICUS - artist, educator, scholar, translator, cousin, friend and mentor died Tuesday, April 11, 2006. Raised by her mother, Slaava, Ethel's passion for art began at an early age, inspired by Doris McCarthy and Arthur Lismer. One of the first women graphic artists in advertising, she later became a painter in her own right. Ethel was elected to the Ontario Society of Artists in 1963. Ethel was a woman of many passions. Her idealism for a Jewish state compelled her to live and work in Israel in the early 1950s. Ethel was a scholar who became principal of the Holy Blossom Hebrew School. Later in life, she honed her skills in Yiddish, translating stories for journals and a book collection. Ethel was an opera buff and travelled with the family to Vienna and New York to hear Adrianne Pieczonka sing. She was so looking forward to the Gala opening of the Canadian Opera Company, but it was not to be. Ethel was loved and admired by cousins Raizel and Sulie SPECTOR, Elizabeth and Neil COOPER, Bill and the late Bryna PARK, and Arnold and Dina SIMONOFF; the Kates family; and by her second cousin Mavis PIECZONKA and her family. Ethel crafted a life rich in experience and relationships she will be missed by her many Friends and colleagues. Ethel will be buried from Holy Blossom Temple, 1950 Bathurst Street, on Sunday, April 16, 2006 at 10: 30 a.m. Interment at Holy Blossom Memorial Park. Robbery victim dies of head injury

An autopsy into the death of a 79-year-old man, who was fatally injured during a knifepoint robbery on Wednesday night, has revealed that he died of blunt-impact trauma to the head.
Chan-Ung PARK died in a hospital Saturday at 10: 24 p.m., after being robbed in Dentonia Park, located in Toronto's east end at Danforth Avenue and Victoria Park Avenue.
Toronto police have made two arrests in connection with the robbery.
Since Mr. PARK's death, the investigation has been taken over by the homicide squad.
Although neither person in custody has been charged with the slaying, additional charges may be coming, police say.
Police say that shortly before Mr. PARK was robbed that night, a 35-year-old man was also robbed at knifepoint.
Investigators are asking anyone with any information about Mr. PARK's death to call 416-808-7400 or Crime Stoppers at 516-222-8477.
