"Princess" Shelby Elizabeth Marie GAGNÉ of Saint Thomas, on Sunday, July 9, 2006, peacefully into the arms of Jesus, lovingly cradled by Mommy and surrounded by her devoted family, at the age of 3 years, 3 months. Dearly loved and cherished daughter of Steve and Rebecca (MALIK) GAGNE. Dearly loved by her brave and caring sister Emileigh Olivia Marie GAGNE. Much loved granddaughter of Carol and Michael McHUGH, Jim MALIK and partner Becky WHITTINGHAM and Jane and Rheal GAGNE. Also survived by great grandparents and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Shelby was born in Saint Thomas on April 22, 2003. Shelby came into this world and departed with grace and dignity. During Shelby's short life, she was a genuine inspiration and touched the hearts of many. Shelby bravely courageously fought the battle of her life against cancer and in doing so became the world's greatest teacher. A service to celebrate Shelby's life will be held at Saint Anne's Church on Wednesday at 11: 00 a.m. Visitation at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin Street, Saint Thomas on Tuesday from 2-7 p.m. Cremation has taken place. Of R.R.#4 Saint Thomas, on Saturday, December 9, 2006, at the Saint Thomas-Elgin General Hospital at the age of 82. Loving husband of Theresa and loving father of Elmer MALIK Jr. and his wife Kathy, Jim MALIK and his wife Becky, Lynda and her husband Bill McCORMICK. Wonderful and proud grandpa of Tracey (Tom COOPER,) Craig, Melanee, (fiancé Gavin,) Scott (Sharon,) Rebecca (Steve GAGNE,) William (Jeanny) and Heather. Proud great-grandpa of Ethan, Autumn and Emileigh. Predeceased by his parents Mary and Jonas, sister Mary TOROK, children Richard Joseph and Joseph Richard and great-granddaughter Shelby GAGNÉ (July 2006.) Survived by sisters Anne TOROK of Michigan and Rose (Glen) LEWIS of Saint Thomas and a sister-in-law Betty VAGI. Predeceased by a brother-in-law George TOROK Sr. Elmer was born in Saurd, Hungary on March 10, 1924. He was a well known and respected tobacco farmer who loved farming (retiring in 2002). He was an avid supporter of the community and was a life long member of the Knights of Columbus (4th Degree) and of the Union South-Yarmouth Optimist Club. Elmer was a member of Saint_Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Port Stanley. Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin Street, Saint Thomas until Wednesday morning and then to Holy Angels' Church where Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10: 00 a.m. Interment to follow Holy Angels' Cemetery. Prayers will be recited at the funeral home Tuesday afternoon at 4: 00 p.m. Visitation Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Remembrances may be made to the Cancer Society or the Alzheimers Society.

He was predeceased by two sisters in Poland. Born November 11, 1911, in Huntington, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. Passed away, November 8, 2006 at Saint Michael's Hospice, in Burnaby, British Columbia with his daughters at his side. Predeceased, by his beloved wife, of over 63 years, Helen, in 2005; his cherished only son, Charles William, in 1988; his sister Velma and his niece Carol. Left to mourn are his daughters, Nancy Jean of Steveston, and Jacquie (Wally MALINOWSKI) of Vancouver his daughter-in-law Shirley, of Mississauga; his grandchildren: John HUNTINGTON, and Elizabeth (Mark RATCLIFFE;) Geoffrey THIESSEN Alexis and Jay MALINOWSKI; and his very special great-grand_son Charles William (Liam) RATCLIFFE. John was born by the sea and loved it all his life, despite spending over 50 years as an 'inlander' in Toronto. There, he raised his family and was a charter member of the Toronto East Rotary Club. After Helen's death, he moved to Tsawwassen to be closer to family, and once again resided by the sea. The last year of his life presented many challenges, which he faced with his usual determination, and stoicism, never letting the negative overwhelm the positive. Our heartfelt thanks go to the caring and compassionate staff at Saint Michael's Hospice. You are truly angels of mercy. Expressions of sympathy may be made by donations to Saint Michael's Hospice, the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of your choice. On Thursday, July 13th, 2006 in his 88th year. Formerly of Adelaide Village. Devoted husband of, and now at rest with, his beloved Kay (Kathleen FULLER 1979.) Predeceased by daughter Gloria (HELKAA 2001) and all nine of his brothers and sisters. He lived a life of his own, by his terms, and convictions. Peacefully, on Wednesday, October 18, 2006 at Peace Arch Hospital in White Rock, British Columbia. Born January 5, 1921 in North Bay, and raised in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Bill joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1941 and served in England as a F/L pilot instructor with the Commonwealth Air Training Plan. He earned a Forestry Degree at U of T, and raised a family of eight children with his wife of 63 years, Kathleen (Kay). Upon retiring in 1969, Bill and Kay relocated to White Rock, British Columbia where he enjoyed a second career in real estate and as a Canadian Executive Services Association Advisor. Predeceased by son Donald, grand_son Peter and great-grand_son Sage and by his sisters Elizabeth HOBBS and June TAILOR/TAYLOR. Bill will be very much missed and always remembered by his wife Kay, two sons William George and Brian Douglas and five daughters, Gaye (and Peter) DOLEZAL, Beverley (and Steve ERICKSON,) Sandra (and Wayne) MALLEY, Candy (and Peter) HODSON, Wendy (and Troy) READY and 16 grandchildren and their spouses and 11 great-grandchildren. DRAKE, William Keith
In loving memory of William "Keith" DRAKE, 81, who passed away suddenly on the morning of Nov 22 at Markham Stouffville Hospital. Keith's memory will always be cherished by his wife Marjorie as a most loving and generous husband, and by his daughters Ann, Mary and Wendy as the best and most loving father. His grandchildren, Tom and Emily MALLIN, Alec and Frances PARRY and William SHIELDS, will always have a place in their hearts for him. He will be sorely missed by his sister Pat, sons-in-law Simon PARRY and Robert SHIELDS. Keith and Marjorie met and fell in love 62 years ago. They travelled extensively and have lived in England, France and Spain as well as Canada. Keith originally came to Canada to train as a pilot, and later returned with his wife and 15 month old daughter. His career in advertising and marketing spanned five decades. He retired from Telemedia in 1993, having previously worked at General Foods in Canada, England and France. Those who knew him well appreciated his dry humour, and yes! he still had that first dollar! Memorial donations to the Parkinsons Society in lieu of flowers would be much appreciated. Died peacefully at the Montreal General Hospital on March 25th, 2006 in his 80th year. Dearly loved husband of Barbara (née MONTURE.) Devoted father and father-in-law of Katie (Paul COWAN,) Tam, Lesley (François PAULETTE) and James. Proud and loving grand-dad of Thaidene, Sophie, Alexina, Sadële and the late K'aila. Dear brother of Joan (Bill LORD) and the late Edmund. Archie will be sadly missed by his nieces and nephew and other extended family in Canada, the United States and Scotland. Archie was a professor of English literature for many years at McGill University and was an active supporter of academic freedom. He was also a member of the Board of Curators of the Osler Library. He spent wonderful hours during his retirement as a volunteer at the Palliative Care Unit of the Royal Victoria Hospital. Our thanks to the nurses, volunteers and doctors at the P.C.U. of the Montreal General for so lovingly caring for Archie during his illness. Visitation will take place at Christ Church Cathedral (Ste-Catherine St. W., between Union and University) on Tuesday, March 28th from 7h30 to 9 p.m. Funeral service to take place at the Cathedral at 10h30 a.m on Wednesday, March 29th.
