BOLAND,
Patricia
Gail (née
PISNOOK)
(April 13, 1943-January 7, 2006)
Such a beautiful spirit, always at play. You taught us to celebrate
each and every day, particularly birthdays - your favourite special
day. You have been a model of courage, generosity and strength
for family and Friends, who often sought your companionship and
counsel. Daughter of William and Helen
(LESLIE)
PISNOOK.
You
are survived by your loving mother Helen. You have been a devoted
and loving friend to Cheryl, to sisters Carol (and Donn) and
Linda, and aunt to Susan (and Ron), Natalie (and Jim), David
(and Kelly), Jack (and Debbie) and great-aunt to Jordan, Kyle,
Jason, Kara, Stefanie and Emma. You are fondly remembered by
your in-laws Paul and Una and Mary Jane. You were never one to
highlight your own accomplishments. Rather, the depth and breadth
of relationships were most important to you. You were an accomplished
athlete (member of the Canadian Women's Basketball Team in 1967
and manager with the team for three years, 1981-84), and an ardent
advocate for women in sport (served on the National Advisory
Council on Fitness and Amateur Sport, Director of Women's Athletics
at Concordia University). You've been inducted into two Sport
Halls of Fame - as Program Builder at Concordia and basketball
player at the University of Manitoba. You were a sport columnist
for the Montreal Star and a Canadian Broadcasting Corporation
commentator at the 1976 Summer Olympics. Perhaps your richest
legacy is to the many young men and women that you taught, coached
and guided through their formative years. Dearest Pat, you blessed
us with your passion for life. Our memories of you will bring
us strength to carry on, light to guide us and smiles to warm
our hearts. Rest now, you have lived well and your spirit lives
on. A memorial service and reception will be held at St. Michael's
College School (Bathurst and St. Clair) on Thursday, January
12th at 7: 30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, you may wish to make a
donation to St. Michael's College School in support of the Pat
Boland Student Bursary.
