Passed away at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Durham on Tuesday, March 14th, 2006. The former Margaretha LANG, of Durham, in her 72nd year. Beloved wife of the late Kurt MEIER. Loving mother of Renate and her husband Hans KEBBERT of R.R.#1 Markdale, Christa and her husband Ernest EGER of Priceville, Klaus and his wife Marie of Shanty Bay, Martin and his wife Carol of Priceville and Thomas and his wife Samantha of Priceville. Fondly remembered by her ten grandchildren and one great-grandson. Dear sister of Hannelore HOFFMANN of Germany and Herta SPARR of Barrie. Predeceased by two brothers and one sister. Friends may call at the McCulloch-Watson Funeral Home, Durham on Friday from 2: 00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9: 00 p.m. A Celebration of Life for Margaretha MEIER will be held at the funeral home on Saturday afternoon at 1 o'clock. Cremation to follow. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family.

Of Iona on Sunday, November 5, 2006, at the Saint Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family, in her 50th year. Dearly loved wife of Lee CUMMINGS and loved mother of Tarin and her husband Andre FORTIN of Saint Thomas and Ryan CUMMINGS and partner Andrea BROWN of Iona. Loved daughter of Labelle (HILL) (WEBB) HOFFMEYER of Port Franks and the late Mervin WEBB and dear sister of Darlene and her husband David CARTER of Grand Bend, Tom WEBB of London and Joy and her husband Andrew DOW of Newmarket. Dear daughter-in-law of Ron and Ann CUMMINGS of Port Stanley and sister-in-law of Dale and his wife Marcie CUMMINGS of Saint Thomas, Bob and his wife Ann CUMMINGS of Paynes Mills, Wayne and his wife Sheri CUMMINGS of Union and Kelly Ann and her partner Jose SANTO of Williams Lake, British Columbia. Sadly missed by a number of nieces and nephews. Sally was born in Dashwood on June 23, 1957. She was an educational assistant with the Thames Valley Board of Education. A service to celebrate Sally's life will be held at Williams Funeral Home on Wednesday at 11: 00 a.m. Interment of ashes to follow in Shedden Cemetery. Cremation has taken place. Visitation at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Flowers gratefully declined, with remembrances to the Saint Thomas-Elgin General Hospital Palliative Care Unit) or the London Regional Cancer Centre.

Dear mother of Anne and Jerry TOLLINSKY, Evelyn SCHUSHEIM and Howard SCHMELTZER, Pearl SCHUSHEIM and Moshe IPP. Cherished grandmother of Martin and Divsha, Joelle, Jordan, Lauren, Ben and Daniel. Great grandmother to Yitzchak, Zali, Ateret. A holocaust survivor who believed every day was a gift. She was a woman of strength, courage and conviction who lived her life with immense dignity, benevolence and purpose. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2006 at 2 p.m. from Steeles Memorial Chapel, 350 Steeles Ave. W. (Between Yonge and Bathurst). The family of the late Marguerite "Rita" McCORMICK would like to take this opportunity to extend our sincere thanks to Father Ernest DESLIPPE for his kindly prayers and ministrations, the Resurrection choir, altar servers and the Catholic Women's League for acting as Honour Guard. Thanks to those who gave tokens of remembrance or sent flowers, to those who called at the funeral home to extend their sympathy and to her many Friends and neighbours for the many acts of kindness. Special thanks to Doctor John HOFHUIS, Dr. Michael CHENG, the Victorian Order of Nurses nurses, Red Cross Home Care Workers, fourth floor staff and the Palliative Care Staff at the Saint Thomas Elgin General Hospital for their care and compassion for Mom. ALLEY, Charlotte Deacon
Charlotte Deacon ALLEY, in her 90th year, passed away peacefully on Tuesday December 5, 2006 in Kingston, New York. Charlotte graduated from Branksome Hall and in 1938 the University of Toronto with her Bachelor's degree. During World War 2, 1941-45 she worked for the British Intelligence Department in New York City. In 1945 Charlotte married Doctor John C. ALLEY and moved to Kingston, New York to raise her family. Throughout her life Charlotte was a very active volunteer in her church, serving on many committees and on the board of the Children's Home during the 1970s. She enjoyed her swimming, bowling and playing the piano, but most of all her whole extended family and will be fondly remembered by her over 100 direct Deacon descendants as "Central Dispatch" Alley. Charlotte was predeceased by her husband, Doctor John ALLEY, her two daughters Victoria and Elizabeth, her sister Norah, her seven brothers, Kenneth, Coulter, John, Allin, Fraser, Donald and Paul DEACON. Charlotte is survived by her son, Rev. James L. ALLEY, his wife Joan and her beloved grandson John, who live in Port Ewen, New York and by her sister Kathleen HOFMEYER of Victoria, British Columbia. A Memorial Service to celebrate Charlotte's life will be held on Saturday February 3, 2006 at St. Andrews United Church, 117 Bloor Street, East, Toronto, at 2: 00 p.m. In lieu of flowers a donation to The Sick Children's Hospital Foundation on University Avenue, Toronto would be appreciated.

Passed away suddenly at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre on March 8, 2006, in his 80th year. Jim is survived by his loving wife and companion of 54 years, Caroline (CROUCHER,) and their four children, Cally of Toronto, Rod and Catherine (ROCHE) of Oakville, Kathryn and John CREELMAN of Mono and Andrew and Gillian (HOFMEYR) of Johannesburg, South Africa. Dearly missed by his grandchildren, Ben HUNT, Billy and Cally HUNT, Katie CREELMAN, and Aidan and Ella HUNT. Survived by his brothers, Donald and his wife Helen of Florida, and John and his wife Joan of Grand Bend. Born in Sarnia, Ontario, Jim entered the Canadian Armed Forces at the age of seventeen and graduated from the first journalism class at the University of Western Ontario (1948). Jim had a long and distinguished career in sports journalism and had the pleasure of covering most major sporting events including; Stanley Cups, Superbowls, World Series, Olympic Games, Golf Majors and 50 consecutive Grey Cups. He was the recipient of many awards including the Canadian Football League Commissioner's Award in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the development of football in Canada, the Sports Media Canada Achievement Award (the Canadian Arm of the International Sports Writers Association), and the Alumni Honour Roll from the Graduate School of Journalism, University of Western Ontario. He is a member of the Canadian Football Hall of Fame. He was the author of several books, including his memoirs "All Work and All Play". Family wish to thank Dr. Ron TAILOR/TAYLOR for his devoted care, and the current and former staff of the Toronto Sun Sports Department for their Friendship and support. God suddenly took Bert to be with Him on Friday, June 16th, 2006 in his sixty-first year. Bert is survived by his loving wife Anne (née NIEBOER) on Minesing. Dear father of John and his wife Naomi, Paul (Marilese,) Grace and Cheryl GULAS and her husband David. Special grandpa to Emily-Anne and Alysa.
