At Grey Bruce Health Services, Owen Sound, on Monday, December 18, 2006. Harvey GOLEM of Owen Sound in his 92nd year. He was predeceased by his wife of 62 years Mary (née DONOVAN) in July of 2006. Dear Dad of Doctor James GOLEM and his wife Patricia▲ of Hanover and Mary Carol and her husband Bob PARSONS of Sauble Beach. Sadly missed by his grandchildren Bill GOLEM of Hanover, Rick GOLEM of Elmwood, Rob PARSONS and his wife Joeline of Ingersoll, Lisa PARSONS and Wajid HODA of Bunbury, Australia and his three month old great-grand_son Willy PARSONS. Also survived by his sister Madeline PEGELO, his brother Wilfred GOLEM and his wife Marion▲ and his sister-in-law Marguerite GOLEM all of Chesley. Predeceased by three brothers Norman, Clarence and Elmer. Harvey and Mary operated the general store at Dobbinton Corner from 1945-1968. When he moved to Owen Sound he worked for McArthur and Reilly for 12 years. After he retired he continued to help his dear friend Effie (BURKHOLDER) HEMSTOCK in her drapery business. Harvey loved to play and repair violins. He was the oldest current member of the Merry Music Makers. He was blessed to have many neighbours, Friends and family watching over him. He will be missed. Friends are invited to the Tannahill Funeral Home for visiting on Wednesday, December 20, 2006 from 12 noon until service time. The funeral service will be conducted in the chapel on Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. Terri-Ann MATTIASSON officiating. Interment, Chesley Cemetery. He was a best friend and beloved husband to Margaret "Marg" (KENNY,) who together celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last October 11, 2005. Precious father to his four children, Pattie HODGE, Anne▲ SCHARF and her husband Ted, Tom and his friend Nancy and Dan and his wife Laurie all of Kitchener Waterloo. Grandpa was cherished by his grandchildren, Tracie STEFFLER (Dan,) Brad HODGE (Michelle,) Katie and Matthew O'REILLY and Alex SCOTT. He was a very proud great grandfather to Brooklyn, Christopher and Carter STEFFLER and Raine HODGE. Passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 12, 2006, at the age of 95, after a long life brimming with love and laughter. Kathleen was born November 6, 1910 near Little Rapids, Ontario, and spent a happy childhood on the family homestead outside of Thessalon and in Owen Sound. She moved to Toronto during the Depression, and she and her husband William settled in Weston, where Kathleen created a home filled with love for their sons. She worked tirelessly and with quiet determination to provide her beloved boys with every possible opportunity in life. After a fulfilling career at Weston Public Library, Kathleen retired to Midland, where she nurtured a beautiful garden and many beautiful Friendships. Later in life she moved to Collingwood's Sunset Village to be nearer her family, and during her years there continued to charm all those who met her. She will be remembered by her special Friends as a warm, giving soul who was enormously proud of her family and was always happy to share stories and memories over a cup of tea. Kathleen is predeceased by her husband William and her cherished elder son Bill. She is remembered as a wonderful mother by her son Ron and his wife Terri, and by her beloved daughter-in-law Ruth. She was a doting and adored Grandma to granddaughters Kim, Karen, and Alison, and to grand_son Geoffrey, and a very loving GG (that's Great Grandma) to Samantha and Nicholas. The family wishes to thank all Kathleen's Friends and companions who cared for her and enriched her life at Sunset Village, including Bernie, Molly, Darlene and Tom, Connie, and Donna. In 1965 Ken married Kay - the love of his life. They recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. On Saturday, March 18, 2006 in his 93rd year. Beloved husband of Katharina, much loved father of Karen, George and his wife Linda, Diane and her husband Ray AMBRASKA, and Robert GAAL and his wife Beverly. A loving grandfather to Jocelyn, David, Hilary, Jae, Heather and Rik. Born in England, Ken came to Canada at 26. During World War 2, he served in the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Squadron Leader and Flight Instructor. He married Patricia HODGES (deceased,) was involved in the Canadian shoe industry for 40 years, and was founding president of the Ontario and Western Canada Shoe Travellers Associations. In 1965, Ken married Kay - the love of his life. They recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. A member of the Probus Club of Aurora and a life member of the Royal Canadian Military Institute. In her 80th year, passed away at the Extendicare Nursing Home, Brampton, Ontario on Sunday, March 26, 2006. She was the beloved daughter of Grant and Inez McMULLEN. Gwendolyn▲ is survived by her loving Aunt Opal of Belleville, Ontario and her two dear long-time Friends, Lois RAMSAY of Brampton, Ontario and Alma HODGES of Toronto, Ontario. Gwendolyn was a long-time employee of the Confederation Life Company of Canada. Many thanks are extended for the excellent care given to Gwen by Extendicare Brampton over the years that she was a resident, with special thanks to Social Worker Valerie and Special Care Worker Ruby. Funeral to take place at the "Scarborough Chapel" of McDougall and Brown Funeral Home, 2900 Kingston Rd. (1 block east of St. Clair Ave. E.) Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at 1: 30 p.m., followed by interment at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
