Peacefully at the Norfolk General Hospital after a lengthy but courageous battle with cancer, of Waterford. Beloved wife of the late Gerry VERINI. Much loved and cherished mother of Dorothy CALBECK (& her late "favorite son-in-law" Jack,) Brantford; Betty YOUNG, Kitchener; Paul (& Rita,) Waterford; Peter (& Sheila) Caledonia. Much loved grandmother (Grannie) of Stephen (& Janine), David (& Lisa), Susie (& Edgar); Sherrie (& Tom), Sean; John (& Jen), Shena (& Mike); Nolan (& Joanna), Alexis, Monica, and Jordan. Great grandmother of Candice, Scarlett, and Maisie. Special Mom and Grannie to Pauline and John HINDS and family, Newcastle. Will be sadly missed by her nieces and nephews who were very special to her as well as her best friend Doreen. Best loved great-grandmother to Lindsey, Mattheas and Jasper HINES, Jake and Emilie FROLICK. Fondly remembered as Auntie Pat to many nieces and nephews who live far and wide but always kept in touch. Pat grew up in Whitby and graduated as a nurse from Oshawa General in 1941. She did many years of volunteer work, particularly Sick Kids Hospital (25 years). She had a life long love of Bridge playing, many years at the Granite Club and lately at her residence Lifestyles (Donway). She will be remembered by all our Muskoka family, many of whom she taught to play tennis. She loved our cottage at Plum Pudding Point for over 50 years. Mum, Nanny, Auntie Pat grounded our family. We will miss her, but must let her go. Passed away suddenly on Wednesday, November 15th, 2006. Peter is survived by his wife Ursula; daughters Andrea MENZEL, Cornelia AMICABILE (Uwe ECHTERMANN) and Petra HINKE (Uwe FRICKE); grandchildren Daisy, Corrado and Juri; sisters Gabriele RAPPENECKER (John) and Steffi STEWARD/STEWART/STUART (Ted,) as well as numerous nieces and nephews throughout North America and Europe. Born and educated in Germany, Peter arrived in Canada over fifty years ago and made this country his home. He was a sailor and world traveller, wildlife enthusiast and dedicated businessman. Known to all as a generous friend, always a gentleman and a true helmsman, both on board EKU 111, as well as, for his family and company. He will be greatly missed by us all. Peacefully, on Sunday, June 4th, 2006 at Toronto Western Hospital, Chris (39), succumbed to cancer after a battle fought with dignity and determination. He was surrounded by the love of his wife Lisa and his parents at the time of his passing. Dearly loved, and best friend of his wife, Lisa. Devoted and cherished father of their two sons, Ben (6) and Connor (4). He is also survived by his proud and loving parents, Don and Marlene HALL of Markham and his sister Leanne (Alwin) MASCOLL of Mississauga, as well as his Uncle Larry and Aunt Elaine of Peterborough and his Uncle Gregg and Aunt Carolyn of Bowmanville. Passed away peacefully on November 13 in his 81st year surrounded by family. Predeceased by his parents, Robert and Marjorie HINTON and his beloved wife Barbara (ETTINGER) of 54 years, John will be lovingly remembered by his family: children Janet (David), Douglas (Carol), Marjorie (John) and Joyce (Jack), grandchildren Elizabeth, Chantal, Kathleen and John, brother Robert (Betty), nephew David and niece Jane and their families, as well as other members of his extended family. John was raised in Peterborough, Ontario and received a B.A. from the University of Toronto. For over thirty years, John worked for London Life Insurance Company, first in Toronto and then in Edmonton where he was Mortgage Manager. After his retirement he became a commercial real estate agent. John was an active member of Victoria Village United Church in Toronto. An accomplished softball pitcher in his youth, he enjoyed coaching his children's sports teams. In Edmonton he coached competitive women's softball and hockey. John approached work, family and community with respect and a sense of humour. His children and grandchildren remember his patience, kindness and generosity. John appreciated his Friendships and particularly enjoyed holidays with his brother Bob and family. He will be much missed. The family gratefully acknowledges the compassionate care received by John at Jasper Place Continuing Care Centre. Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service on December 9 at 1 p.m. at Trinity United Church 8810 Meadowlark Road, Edmonton, followed by a reception. The interment will follow in Ontario at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of John to a favourite charity or to the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation for research related to Frontal Temporal Dementia. Hans' passion was cycling. He took his last ride on the 1A Highway near Banff and now he has chosen to ride other roads.
