Peacefully at home with loving care by family after a bout with pneumonia at the age of 85, Friday, January 27, 2006. Beloved husband of Bonnie (KUBOTA,) cherished father of Dan and his wife Kathy, caring and proud Grandpa of Dano and Alex. Sadly missed by his sisters Toshiko and Yoshie, brothers Buck (wife Aya) in Kaslo, British Columbia, Bill (Vi), Kunio, Shane (wife Claire) and Hideo. Predeceased by sisters Aiko and Chito and brother Harry. Fondly remembered by nieces, nephews and Friends. After a valiant battle with cancer, Valerie is now at peace. Her strong will and determination was admired by all who shared in this journey with her. Valerie was the beloved wife of Gary ABRAMS. She was the loving mother of Jody ABRAMS (Michael BALL,) Melissa PETTINGILL (Shane) and Jeffrey ABRAMS (Stephanie CONCANNON) and doting Nana of Ryan and Chloe. Valerie was the cherished daughter of Ralph and Margaret HIGGINS. Dear sister of David HIGGINS (Carol), Trish EAGLESON (David) and Keith HIGGINS (Marilyn). Daughter-in-law to May ABRAMS and sister-in-law to Ken ABRAMS (MaryLou). She will be missed by her nieces and nephews. In her 74th year passed away peacefully at University Hospital Family Medicine/Palliative Care Unit after a lengthy Illness. Survived by her beloved husband and best friend Angus McLENNAN. Also survived by a son Michael STRATTON and his wife Melanie and four grandchildren Katie VALENTE of Ottawa, Andrew, Mark and Laura at home. Also survived by three sisters Brenda MURRELL (Fred,) Bernice COLLINS and Betty HIGGINS all of London. Mabe will be sadly missed by her many relatives, Friends and extended family. Mabe was active in the London Business Community most of her adult life having been founder of Westmount Tennis Club, Mabe's Collectables and owned and operated Perfect Scents Perfume Boutique from 1982-1999 in White Oaks Mall. Mabe was a patron of the Stratford Festival For All Time Endowment Fund and also was the sponsor of Phase 1 "Veteran's Garden" in Victoria Park which was dedicated on November 4, 2005 to honour all Veterans that served Canada through the years. We wish to thank all the dedicated, compassionate professionals at University Hospital especially Dr. Brian TAILOR/TAYLOR, Dr. PECK, Dr. Rosemary CRAIN and the nursing staff of the Palliative Care Unit. Pallbearers were Francis VINK, Wayne CROMBEEN, Frank BISHOP, Rick CROMBEEN, Darren CROMBEEN and Ed YSEBAERT. An honour guard was formed by the C.W.L. at the mass and also provided the luncheon following the service. Interment followed in Resurrection Cemetery. Julia was a member of St. Benedict's Church and the C.W.L. Beloved wife of Chris JONGERIUS for 51 years. Passed away peacefully at the Kingston General Hospital on Monday, March 6, 2006, after a long struggle with cancer. Ordained in 1947, he spent the next 46 years serving the United Church of Canada in various capacities; including his time as Bay of Quinte Conference Minister, Personnel. His life of 87 years was well lived, spent learning and loving, building and taking joy in community. Loved and dearly missed by his wife of over 60 years Marjory CUNNINGHAM; and by his children Peter, Mary Beth, and Christopher; their past and present partners Andrea LEVAN, Ronda LENTI, Kim ZAPF, Bill SCHRAM, Trish WALLACE, and Kelly HIGGINS his grandchildren Jeremy (wife Carolyn), Robert, Marybeth (Partner Nathan GLENTWORTH,) Rebecca (fiancee James CAVEN,) Matthew, and Griffin. Eaton Company where he had a long and successful career spanning 36 years. Upon mandatory retirement at the age of 65, he continued to work as a consultant for Eaton's for an additional ten years. Always an energetic and generous contributor to many community activities too numerous to list, he was particularly involved over many years as a director of Anglican Houses (now Leap of Faith, Toronto Community Services). His most passionate pursuit was his family and his many close Friends, a number of whom felt that the affectionate nickname 'Saint Bill' suited him remarkably well. Died at home in Morrisville, Vermont, on Thursday, April 6, 2006 peacefully after a brief illness. Born January 22, 1913 in Montreal, Quebec, to Gerald W. FARRELL and Eileen O'Meara FARRELL. Survived by Florence his beloved wife for 54 years; by daughter of his marriage to Joanna WRIGHT, Sally KININMONTH (David), Lac Brome, Quebec; and by Florence's daughters, Fiona FARRELL (Kevin HIGGINS,) Saratoga, New York; and Willa FARRELL (Kathleen HENTCY), Walden, Vermont; by brother Charles (Lady Katherine) of Watlington, England by grandchildren Paul and Michael KININMONTH and Julia BLUNDELL great-granddaughter Mia KININMONTH; five nephews and nieces, Nick, Louisa, Gerry, Dido, and Em, and their children; and standard poodle Emma. He was pre-deceased by his brothers Gerald and Desmond, and his son Mark. Funeral services were held Sunday, April 9, 2006, in Morrisville, Vermont. Donations to Lamoille County Home Health and Hospice, 55 Farr Street, Morrisville, Vermont, 05661. A pioneering newspaperman, Mark developed Weekend Magazine, and its French-language counterpart, Perspectives, which together in the 1960s, reached half of all Canadians in their local weekend paper. He held managing positions with The Canadian Forum and was publisher of The Windsor Star and The Montreal Gazette. Mark leaves a legacy of love.

Died on June 18, 2006 at the age of 88. She was a wife, a mother, and one of the longtime residents of Leaside, Toronto. She was the widow of Harry CADARIO, Director of Engineering at Ontario Hydro. Dorothy leaves behind her children, Paul of Washington, D.C., and Barbara of Vancouver, British Columbia, and her sister Corinne HIGGINS of Brockville, Ontario. Dorothy was a beautiful, intelligent, and very strong woman. She grew up on the St. Lawrence River in Brockville, where she loved to canoe. Her happiest times as an adult were spent raising her children and she retained a life-long delight in young children. She regretted that she never went to university, and after her retirement from the Borough of East York, she was an avid participant and loyal volunteer in Later Life Learning at the University of Toronto, as well as Living and Learning in Retirement at Glendon College. Dorothy was as devoted to her family, as they were to her. She never hurt a fly. Dorothy died of old age at her home, after suffering for several years from the uneven care provided by the professionals of the Ontario healthcare system and by the private homecare industry. Thanks go to Vicki JOHNSTON of the East York Community Care Access Centre, for her exemplary help, to Doctor Jamie MEUSER and his team at the Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care, to Lisa, and to those caregivers who were good to her. Al NICHOLSON died suddenly on Saturday, December 23, 2006 at the age of 65 in Harbin, China. Al was the beloved and loving husband of 35 years of Evelyn (née MARSHALL,) and cherished father of Rebecca, Alexander and his wife Carol Ann, Robert and David. Al was born in Canora, Saskatchewan, December 11, 1941 to the late Alexander (Sandy) and Marian NICHOLSON. He was the dear little brother of Mary Anna HIGGINS and the late Ruth DIBBS. He will be greatly missed by his many brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews and the Immanuel church family. Al was a talented musician, a caring teacher and a warm and giving friend and will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by many close Friends in and around Fenelon Falls, Ontario - Al and Ev's home base for many years - as well as new Friends in many exotic places Al and Ev had traveled over the past few years to teach and learn. Al was cremated in China on Christmas Day. He leaves behind his dear brother Christopher Ralph and his spouse Ron SMITH of Peterborough, Ontario, his sister Debbie and her spouse Robert HINDLE of Perkinsfield, Ontario, his brother David James and his spouse Ronnie of Kaslo, British Columbia, his nephews Robbie, Adam and Colin, his late father's spouse Margaret BIGGAR of Burlington, Ontario and his mother's late spouse Dan MacRITCHIE of Midland, Ontario. Kent will be profoundly missed by his devoted family of Friends, particularly Margaret ENGLISH, Robin PACIFIC and Ross HIGGINS. He was sadly predeceased by his dear friend Philip BARBER and many others that left us far too early. He also leaves behind his sweet kitties Peter and Emily and his cherished harpsichord "Guy". Kent's superior wit and sense of humour remained with him until the last hours of his life. He will be sorely missed by all who had the good fortune of knowing him. Memorial tribute to be announced. Passed away on Monday, March 13, 2006, after a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved and much loved wife of Jim ANDERSON. Loving and proud mother of Alana and Scott. She was a driving force, who said it like it was and had the wonderful ability to make people laugh. She will be missed by her family and Friends more than words can express. WILSON, William▲ Robert▲ (1916-2006)
Born in Toronto on August 15, 1916 to Elizabeth Caldwell and William S. WILSON, Bill▲ died peacefully, surrounded by his family, on March 30, 2006. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 63 years, Margaret, and his three children, David (Shelagh HIGGINS,) Ken,▲ and Ann (Rob PRICHARD.) He was adored by his nine grandchildren Amy, Katie and Hilary WILSON, Alex,▲ Erika▲ and Ian WILSON and Wilson, Kenny and Jay PRICHARD. Bill▲ grew up in Toronto and lived there for most of his life. He attended Victoria University at the University of Toronto, where he met his wife and life companion Margaret LAVERY. Upon▲ graduation in 1941, he enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force where he became Squadron Leader and was awarded the Air Force Cross for distinguished service. After the war he joined the T. Eaton Company where he had a long and successful career spanning 36 years. Upon mandatory retirement at the age of 65, he continued to work as a consultant for Eaton's for an additional ten years. Always an energetic and generous contributor to many community activities too numerous to list, he was particularly involved over many years as a director of Anglican Houses (now Leap of Faith, Toronto Community Services). His most passionate pursuit was his family and his many close Friends, a number of whom felt that the affectionate nickname "Saint Bill" suited him remarkably well. The family thanks the staff at St. Mike's for the superb treatment Bill received while in their care. The family will receive Friends at the Humphrey Funeral Home - A.W. Miles Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Eglinton Avenue East), from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, April 2nd. A private family service will take place on Monday, April 3rd, following which family and Friends are invited to celebrate Bill's life at a reception from 4-6 p.m. at the Rosedale Golf Club, 1901 Mount Pleasant Road.
