Survived by brothers-in-law Charles HARWOOD (Ruby HICKEN), Norman (Margarett) HARWOOD, Reginald, Frank, Bert HARWOOD, and many nieces and nephews in Canada, U.S.A. and Britain. He was a World War Two veteran, worked at Imperial Oil for 35 years and was a 58 year member of Liberty Lodge No. 419 A.F.& A.M., a member of the York Rite Hiawatha Chapter No. 252 R.A.M.(Gold Award Member), Riblah Council, Knight's Templar (Award of Merit), Ambassador Emeritus of the Mocha Shrine, and the Lambton Shrine Club, former S.M.A.A. softball coach, past Secretary/Treasurer of the former School Section #5 Sarnia Township and a long term member of Saint_James Anglican Church, Board of Management, and volunteer with Christ Anglican Church Cub Pack. Passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Parkwood Hospital, on March 1, 2006 in her 72nd year. She was born in Toronto, Ontario. Daughter of John and Lillian and dear sister of Barbara and Patricia. Beloved wife and best friend of Ross. Dearest mother of Barbara (Paul), David, and Douglas (Cathy). Cherished grandmother of Stephanie, Brennan, Zachary, and Cassandra. Special friend to the Lines and Pageot families, especially Meaghan, Brandon, and Erik. She will be sadly missed by her nieces and nephews for her unconditional love and support. Donna worked as a receptionist at the offices of Doctors M. HICKEY and J. VLADERS for close to 25 years before retiring. She is still remembered for her ready smile and compassionate heart; she was always willing to lend a helping hand. The family would like to express their sincere and heartfelt appreciation to the staff and volunteers at Parkwood's Palliative Care Ward for making Donna's last days peaceful. According to Donna's wishes, cremation has already taken place and a memorial visitation will be held at the Lloyd R. After a 20 month struggle with ovarian cancer, Sharon died at home on January 19, 2006. She was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on September 1, 1961. She is survived by husband Christian STANSFIELD, brothers David BLANK and Gordon BLANK of Winnipeg, and nephew Robert BLANK also of Winnipeg. Sharon was predeceased by her father, Norman BLANK, mother Edna May Clarke (née HICKLING,) brother Donald BLANK, sister-in-law Wendy BLANK (née TOMCHUK,) and nephew Daniel BLANK. Sharon had been a secondary school teacher for the last 10 years after a career as a project manager in an architectural firm. She loved quilting, reading, gardening and her cat, Tigger. Charles WATSON was known for his Charolais herd out of Wat-Cha

One of Ontario's most prominent cattle breeders based in southern Grey County has been killed at one of Canada's foremost cattle shows.
Charles John WATSON, 54, of Mount Forest, was found dead late Sunday night on the grounds of the Western Canadian Agribition in Regina. He may have been crushed by some sort of heavy equipment, Regina police spokeswoman Elizabeth Popowich said Tuesday.
The Mount Forest-area cattle breeder was best known for the important Charolais herd developed over the last 30 years at the Wat-Cha Land and Cattle Company.
News of WATSON's death has left people in Canada's cattle industry in a state of "shock and devastation," Doctor Bryan HICKS, the president of the Canadian Charolais Association, said Tuesday. He said it will leave a hole within the industry and have a big impact on the breed.
HICKS was at several major shows with WATSON over the last month in London, Ontario, at The Royal Winter Fair in Toronto, and at major shows in Edmonton and Saskatoon. He returned to his home in Arthur a week ago, while WATSON carried on to Regina with 17 prize show animals.
"This is an incredibly negative impact on the whole industry, to lose someone so prominent," HICKS said. "I'm very, very, sorry this happened - to anyone, let alone someone who is this prominent in our industry."
HICKS said WATSON, a seventh-generation farmer who took over Wat-Cha farm from his father several years ago, was one of Canada's foremost breeders, producers and promoters of Charolais cattle and several other breeds he raised. He frequently produced significant championship animals.
A bull bred and raised at Wat-Cha farms was the grand champion a year ago at Regina's Western Canadian Agribition, one of the country's most important shows.
This year, WATSON was somehow killed at the same event on Sunday night.
Regina police answered a call at 11: 47 p.m. when a man was found on a roadway between Agribition buildings at Ipsco Place, reported injured or possibly deceased. The man was taken to hospital in Regina where he was pronounced dead.
The area outside the barns where WATSON was found was cordoned off with yellow police tape Monday as officers continued to investigate, The Canadian Press reported. Officers were using vehicle accident reconstruction techniques to examine the site.
"Our investigators are certainly pursuing the possibility that he may have been crushed by a piece of heavy equipment," police spokeswoman Popowich said.
News of WATSON's death rocked the close-knit cattle industry and cast a sombre pall over the annual Regina event, The Canadian Press reported.
Regina police issued a news release Tuesday identifying the victim as Charles WATSON, who "suffered massive internal trauma consistent with being crushed by a heavy object."
Police are still investigating and have appealed to thousands of visitors to the Agribition who may have been operating equipment in the area or seen someone doing so at the time.
Wat-Cha farms has been a prominent North American producer of Charolais cattle for many years, and at one time exported animals to 18 countries.
Charles WATSON, Sr., the father of the man killed Sunday, made news in the industry by shipping planeloads of his cattle to both Russia and China several years ago. He was also a pioneer in embryo transplants, which he began in 1971.
Charles WATSON, Jr. was well regarded within the industry for carrying on the family's reputation for quality cattle since he took over the operation several years ago.

Born in Sebringville, he was the son of the late William and Laura (FULLER) COULTON. Tom served overseas during the Second World War as a pilot with the Royal Canadian Air Force He had been employed at Stacey Brothers, Standard Products and Mitchell Chrysler in Mitchell and had worked in the Parts Department at Red Dale Motors and Kalbfleisch Brothers in Stratford. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Festival City. Beloved husband of Helen Catherine (HOLMAN) COULTON whom he married at Stratford on May 8, 1944. Dear father of Elizabeth HICKS and husband Ron of London and David COULTON and wife Lynda of Stratford. Beloved grandfather of Christopher and Nicholas HICKS and Ashley and Brian COULTON. Much loved and respected by her three children and their spouses: Peter and Rita HICKS Mary Lynn and Hugh CARTER; Vivian and the late Bruce CUSHING. Gram will also be greatly missed by her six grandchildren: David (Franci); Sue (Anne); Chantal; Lesleigh (Ben); Martin (Solmaz) Jordan (Celia) and by her five great grandchildren: Jacob, Tomas, Ruby, Simon and Jasper. Shirley, the eldest of four loving sisters and two brothers, is survived by her many dear nieces and nephews and her sisters-in-law, Isobel, Ruth and Beulah. Passed away on Friday, October 20, 2006 at North York General Hospital in his 87th year. Beloved husband of Janette RIFE (nee McCURDY.) Devoted father of Katherine (Joe) ALESSI of Nyack, New York, Nora (Zachary SHNEK,) and Gordon (Laurie.) Cherished grandfather of Lindsey, Christine, Joseph, and Gianna. Dear brother of Robert RIFE and Joan HICKS of Panama City, Florida. Donald will be fondly remembered by family, Friends, and former patients. He served in the Canadian Dental Corps during World War 2. Graduated from the University of Toronto Dental School in 1950 and set up practice in North Toronto until the age of 83. He was President of the Canadian Dental Association in 1977 and also served for the North Toronto Dental Association and the Ontario Dental Association through much of his working life. Two of his major accomplishments include introducing fluoridation into the Toronto water system and developing the Dental Insurance Fee Guide. Passed away at Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital, Burlington, Ontario, on Friday, January 27, 2006, in his 76th year. Predeceased by his parents Lavern and Pauline and by his brother Tom MAXWELL. Loved brother of Joan MacDOUGALL and her husband David of Dundas and brother-in-law of Joyce MAXWELL of Scarborough. Dear uncle of David MAXWELL (Colleen), Dianne HICKS (Rob) and Cathy LEEMING (Bob) and great-uncle of 7 grand nieces and nephews. Bruce was a paraplegic for 51 years. Entered into rest at the Northumberland Hills Hospital, Cobourg, on Tuesday, January 31, 2006, in his 81st year. Stu was the beloved husband of Margaret ANDERSON of Cobourg. Loving father of Kathy and her husband Ross STEVENS of Cobourg. Cherished grandfather of Megan and Erinne of Toronto. Dear brother of Mary McEACHERN of Oshawa. Predeceased by his sisters Madeline BROWN and Evelyn HALLETT. Brother-in-law of Kathlyne MacKEY. Uncle Stu will be fondly remembered by the Hallett, Imrie, Brown, Burke, Mackey and Anderson families. Passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 11, 2006 at Sunnybrook Hospital, in her 74th year. Beloved wife of the late Robert E. Hicks. Loving mother of Susan AHIER and her husband Norman "Charlie" and Carol PITCHER and her husband Wilson. Devoted grandmother of Stephen, Brian and David and great-grandmother of Keagan. Marian will also be missed by her sister-in-law Marg HAGAN. The family will receive Friends at the Humphrey Funeral Home - A.W. Born in Woolwich, England on August 13, 1922 and died peacefully on March 29, 2006, after a valiant fight with cancer. Loving wife for 59 years of the late Donald (October 22, 2005). Loving mother of Jill HICKS (Bill) and Fran (Neil BLACKLOCK). Aunt of Richard BURT (Roz▲) and Dyanna GASSIEN (Ron,) Auntie▲ "B" to Abigail BURT (Grant ENS,) David▲ BURT (Ruby POON,) Ryan and Blair GASSIEN. Barbara was head Nurse of Obstetrics at the Toronto East General Hospital for 33 years. Following her retirement from Toronto East General Hospital, she helped establish IVF Canada and later worked with Doctor Perry PHILIPS. Barbara▲ was a gregarious individual who loved to paint, read and act in amateur productions. At the time of her passing, Barbara was President of Pine Tree Senior Centre and an active member of her church. Special thanks to The▲ Reverend▲ Brad▲ LENNON, the Parish Nursing Team and the Palliative Care Unit at Toronto East General Hospital. A memorial service will be held for both Donald and Barbara on Sunday, April 9th at 3 o'clock in the Church of the Holy Trinity, Guildwood Village, 85 Livingston Road, Scarborough, Ontario M1K 1K7 (416-261-9503).
