Dorothy is survived by her beloved husband and constant companion George through 55 years of marriage. Loved mother to three loving children and their spouses: Keith and Sue HOWARD of Lacombe, Alberta, Karen and Alan HENKELMAN of Markham, Ontario, Cheryl and Luciano CARLIN of Tabor, Alberta. Loving grandmother to Anne HOWARD in Alaska, Stephen HOWARD in Alberta, Bryan HENKELMAN and his wife Erika in Saskatchewan, Craig HENKELMAN in Ontario, Paul CARLIN and his wife Shannon in Alberta, James CARLIN in Alberta and Anna CARLIN also in Alberta. Many loving cousins and nieces and nephews also survive. Dorothy is survived by her only sister and her husband Verna and Ron MILLSON in Eganville, Ontario and a sister-in-law Phyllis HARRIS of Owen Sound, Ontario. Predeceased by her parents Earl and Lily HARRIS, and three brothers Harold, Donald and Murray. Dorothy and George met at London Bible College in 1947 and were married in London in August 1950. She was involved in children's Bible ministry for many years and was a volunteer at the Canadian Blood Services. Dorothy was a member of People's Church. A funeral service will be held at People's Church, 3888 London Line, Wyoming on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 1: 00 p.m. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery. Peacefully, at London Health Sciences Centre, Victoria Hospital, in her 90th year. Kay was born June 1, 1916 in North Wales, the daughter of Clara and Walter COOKE. She trained as a nurse and served with the Red Cross in India in the second World War. She and her husband Donald emigrated to Canada in 1953. She and her family lived in Mooretown, Ontario and Toronto, and Kay settled in London in 1972. She worked on the Burn Unit of Victoria Hospital until her retirement in 1981. She was the loving mother of Janet and her husband Paul RUFFELL, Hilary and her husband Richard HENLEY, Christopher PEARCE and Michael and his wife Janet PEARCE. She will be missed by grandchildren Sally, Jesse and his wife Melissa HENLEY, Emily RUFFELL and her husband David CARRUTHERS, Fraser, Matthew and Nathan RUFFELL, Christopher and Jackie PEARCE and great granddaughter Sophie CARRUTHERS. Kay was predeceased by her husband Donald in 1969, and all her siblings. Cremation has taken place. We have lost our guiding light, when Ann passed away peacefully after a courageous and stoic battle with cancer at the age of 78 with her family by her side on Thursday, June 15th, 2006. Loved and loving wife of Bill. Cherished mother and inspiration to sons Paul and David. Devoted grandmother to Evan, Nick, Dylan, McKenzie, Emma and Tyler. Mother-in-law and so much more to Gillian and Susan. She will be dearly missed by all, including her bothers Bob and Ken, brother-in-law Dick, sister-in-law Kay and her many nieces and nephews she loved so much. Ann will be remembered as a truly extraordinary individual who changed, shaped and enhanced so many lives through her generosity of spirit. She was a devoted wife, a matriarch, a grandma, a leader, an athlete, a teacher, a student, a counselor, a confidante, a lover of music and dogs, a loyal giving friend and an incredible influence on us all. Her passion for life and tenacious determination to always go the extra distance continually impressed everyone that knew her. She bestows us with an important legacy of family, Friends, laughter, love, hope and happiness. We have been so fortunate to have shared her life and her spirit will continue to live in us all. In accordance with Ann's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Rather, a celebration of her life will be held on Friday, June 23rd from 1-4 p.m. at the Donalda Club, 12 Bushbury Drive, Don Mills, Ontario. Friends are most welcome to come. Wilda loved the wilds of Georgian Bay where the family enjoyed many summers together fishing, boating and exploring. Of London passed away on September 19, 2006 after a short battle with liver damage at the age of 69. There was some dispute as to how to sum up his character and existence and this seems to do it. Somewhere George GALE heard a drum that no one else could hear and he was determined to march to it. Beloved husband of Eleanor (MORIARITY) GALE. Dear father of Angus GALE and his wife Jennifer of Kitchener, and Sean GALE and his friend Michelle HENRI of London. Dear brother of Bev GALE and his wife Barb of Tillsonburg and Shirley HOUGHTON (and her late husband Gord) of London. Also loved by his 2 grand_sons Dustin and Curtis, and 2 granddaughters Riley and Frankie. Survived also by his nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Ernest James GALE and Florence Annie McEWAN. George worked much of his life for the Government, first for Ontario Highways, and then for Ontario Hydro, in the capacity as an appraiser. Friends will be received by the family from 7-9 p.m. Friday at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London, where the complete funeral service will be held in the chapel on Saturday September 23rd at 1 p.m. with Reverend Janet FREDETTE of Richards Memorial United Church officiating. Cremation to follow. Friends will also be received Saturday 1 hour prior to the service.
