on Saturday, March 11, 2006. Fred was born in England June 20,
1921, a son of the late William and Florence
STANFORD. He apprenticed
as a watchmaker in England and joined the Royal Air Force where
he worked as an Instrument Technician from 1940-1945 in Britain
and Gananoque. After the war he immigrated to Canada and worked
as a Watchmaker and Jeweler in Saint Thomas and London until his
retirement. He lived the past twelve years at Woodland Towers
and Spruce Lodge. Beloved husband for 62 years of Maxine
(WHALEY.)
Loving father of Fred and his wife Ruth, Calgary, John and his
wife Brenda, R.R.#2 Baltimore, Michael and his wife Kathy, Wisconsin,

step-grandfather of John (Milena and their son Jacob) and Jessica.
Born in Lancashire, England, Garth emigrated to Canada in 1957
with his wife and young family. Dad was a longtime member of
St. Simon the Apostle Anglican Church. A Chartered Accountant
and former administrator of the Ontario Cancer Institute, Princess
Margaret Hospital, Garth was an avid and patient golfer who loved
music, animals, gardening and sports. Dad had a passionate commitment
to family and work; he will be greatly missed. The family will
receive Friends at St. Simon The Apostle Anglican Church, 525 Bloor
Street East from 1: 00 p.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. on
Wednesday, July 26, 2006. Donations may be made to the Ontario

of Server's Guild. He was a Past President and long time Treasurer
of the Irish Benevolent Society and recipient of the initial
Leprechaun award for devoted service to the Society. In politics
he was an active worker and member of the Conservative Party
for many years. John will likely be most fondly remembered by
the hundreds of couples he married from University Professors
to big time lottery winners who can always say they were married
by Johnny CARSON, not quite as famous as the retired television

and Game Bird Association and a member of Saint Peter's Lutheran
Church in Heidelberg. He will be fondly remembered by his large

1929. He worked in the forests and mines of Northern Ontario
and served overseas in the Royal Canadian Air Force as a radar
technician. Rodney and Gwynneth lived in the farming community
near Leaskdale, Ontario, where Rodney established "Haynes Electric",
his own electrical contracting business. They moved to Uxbridge
in 1996 and then to Lindsay, November 2005. If desired, donations
can be made to St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, Leaskdale, Ontario,
L0C 1C0, where Rodney served as an elder for many years, marked
for their Building Fund or their Mission Fund, or the charity

of the Royal Canadian Yacht Club where in younger years he spent
many summers racing his favourite dinghy, the I14. He had a long
career in the printing and paper business where he started Toronto
Metropolitan Paper Company Ltd., which he operated successfully
for 30 years. He was one of the founders of Holy Trinity School
and served as its founding Chair for 10 years. He maintained
his interest in the school right to present day and was looking
forward to its upcoming 25th anniversary. Friends may call at
the Morley Bedford Funeral Home, 159 Eglinton Avenue West (2 stoplights
west of Yonge Street), on Thursday, March 23rd from 5-8 p.m.
A faithful servant of Holy Trinity Anglican Church, 30 Brooke

Died peacefully on September 14, 2006 at Huronview Home for the
Aged in Clinton, Ontario in his 88th year. Survived by his wife
Sheila HAYWOOD and three sons, David, Ian, Philip, sister Ruth
(Brown) COGHILL and seven grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents,
Robert GARRIOCK, mother May
ADSHEAD, sister Hilda, and brother
Norn. He was born in Toronto on November 6, 1918, the third child
of four. His father originated from the Isle of Sanday, Orkney
Islands, Scotland and his mother from Gateshead on Tyne, England.
He was a graduate of North Toronto Collegiate Institute and had
a short tenure at Hartford Fire Insurance in Toronto. In 1940
he volunteered for war service and joined the Royal Canadian
Air Force. He trained in Clinton, Ontario as a radar technician
and was assigned to the South East Asia Theatre stationed in
India with the 190th Assault Wing. He flew in Catalina Flying
Boats on submarine patrol and convoy escort as well as bombing
missions into Burma for which he received The Burma Star. He
achieved the rank of Flight Lieutenant. James met his wife Sheila,
an Royal Air Force Nursing Sister, while in India and they were
married on October 24th 1946 in England. He then attended the
University of Toronto Medical School and graduated in 1951. Following
graduation he practiced briefly in Copper Cliff, Ontario before
moving to Woodbridge where he practiced family medicine for many
years serving the village and rural community. During the latter
part of his career he practiced in Bolton, Ontario. During his
practice years he instructed at the University of Toronto in
the Department of Family and Community Medicine as a Senior Staff
Family Physician and Clinical Teacher, later being appointed
Assistant Professor to the Faculty of Medicine. He was a staff
physician at Peel Memorial Hospital, York Finch Hospital and
the Etobicoke General Hospital and served as Chief of Staff at
Peel Memorial Hospital. For many years he was Coroner for York
and Peel Counties retiring in 1974. During the mid 1970's he
was the head of the Toronto General Hospital's Emergency Department.
He was granted Life Membership to the College of Family Physicians
of Canada. James diligently served his profession, community
and country and his presence will be greatly missed by his family,
Friends and the surrounding community. A memorial service will
be held on October 13, 2006 at Woodbridge United Church, Woodbridge,
Ontario at 11: 30 a.m. Donations can be made in remembrance of
James to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind or the
Salvation Army.
