Elma MacDOUGALL, a resident of the Centennial Manor, Little Current, died at the Manitoulin Health Centre, Little Current on Thursday, January 5, 2006 at the age of 90 years. She was born at Gabarus, Nova Scotia, daughter of the late James and Maria (Stacey) MacGILLIVRAY. Elma had a variety of interests, one of her favourites being playing Rook. She also enjoyed shuffleboard, fishing, dancing and listening to bagpipe music. She also had a great love of horses. Elma will be sadly missed by her loving family, but many fond memories will be cherished. Elma was predeceased by her husband Donald MacDOUGALL, loving and loved mother of Judy and husband Don BOWERMAN of Lively, Evelyn and husband Frank BOWERMAN of Mindemoya, Maria and husband Blake BOWERMAN of Espanola and Jim MacDOUGALL of Elliot Lake. Of Stratford passed away at the Stratford General Hospital on Wednesday, November 22, 2006. She was born in Appin, Ontario and was the daughter of the late Dennis and Annabel PRUDHAM) LAUGHTON. Vera was the wife of the late Al WALDIE, mother of John WALDIE and his wife Eleanor and beloved grandmother of Brian, Matthew and Philip. She is also survived by her nephew Jim LAUGHTON and his family and her niece Sue LAUGHTON. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a brother Ken LAUGHTON and his wife Anabel. Despite being 93, Vera got old only recently. During her life she put her considerable energies into support of the Stratford Festival, the Stratford Figure Skating Club, the United Way and her church. Died peacefully on June 26th, 2006, of complications following a motorcycle accident three weeks ago. He leaves his wife and fellow adventurer, Joan WILSON, and their children Claire and Timothy (Kelowna), his brother Douglas and his children Jason and Tara (Nanaimo,) his special cousin Gwen PYM (Clearbrook) and Joan's family Robert (Duncan), Patrick and Emily (Victoria), and Cindy, Tyler and Cameron (Campbell River) and many, many Friends and associates. Recently retired, Gerry was a 30+ year veteran of the British Columbia health care community working in Vancouver, New Westminster, Victoria, Kelowna and, latterly, for the Interior Health Authority. A former naval officer, Gerry was a classic motorcycle enthusiast and travelled the world following that passion. His moustached and sunglassed face was a familiar sight behind the wheel of his beloved MGB during the summer and he was a regular at Telemark Cross Country Ski Club in the winter months. Memorial service will be held on Sunday, 2 July at 2 p.m. at The Cathedral Church of Saint Michael and All Angels, 608 Sutherland Avenue, Kelowna, British Columbia. Suddenly and peacefully at his home on Wednesday, December 13, 2006 in his 85th year. Beloved husband of Ingrid. Loving father of Linda. Stan joined Avro Canada in October, 1952 after a distinguished career with the Royal Air Force Flying as many as five test flights a day, he flew virtually every Avro CF-100 Jet Fighter that came off the line between 1952-1959. He also flew the legendary Avro Jetliner, North America's first Jet Airliner, and was at the controls of the Jetliner in December, 1952 during rocket testing of the CF-100. In addition to thousands of flights in CF-100's, he often piloted the DC3/Dakota-Avro Canada's company plane. In December, 1957, he ferried an MK.5 CF-100 to Pt. Magu, California and was involved in critical fire control testing. He has the distinction of being one of the few to co-pilot the Avrocar flying saucer. He is a member of the Avro Hall of Fame. The family will receive Friends at the Humphrey Funeral Home - A.W. Miles Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Eglinton Avenue East), from 7: 00-9:00 p.m. Sunday, December 17, 2006. Funeral service in the chapel on Monday, December 18, 2006 at 11: 00 a.m. with a reception to follow. Interment Highland Memory Gardens.
