William Gordon HAMPSON was predeceased by his beloved wife Cynthia HAMPSON (1979.) Loving father of Robert and his wife Tina, Paul, Cynthia VAN RAVENSTEIN and her husband Derek, Margaret WINDICH and her husband Jeff. Loving grandfather known as "Pops" to his six beautiful granddaughters, Laura, Michelle, Kelly, Emily, Robyn and Kaitlyn. Gordon was a journalist/photographer for 21 years at The Hamilton Spectator, where he was a City Hall reporter, and Queen's Park Correspondent. 78 years old. On November 30, at home, after a brief and courageous battle with lung cancer. Loving husband of Sharon. Loving father of Joe, Geoff, Randi and David. HAMPTON's father dies of heart attack

Toronto -- George HAMPTON, the father of Ontario New Democratic Party Leader Howard HAMPTON, has died. He was 78.
HAMPTON died late Monday after suffering a heart attack in a hospital in Fort Frances, New Democratic Party officials said yesterday.
He was a lifelong resident of the northwestern Ontario community, where he worked as a truck driver and in the local lumber mill.
HAMPTON is survived by his wife, Elsie, three children and six grandchildren.
Howard HAMPTON, 53, has been provincial New Democratic Party leader since June 1996 and served as a cabinet minister under former premier Bob RAE. He is married to Nickel Belt member of provincial parliament Shelley MARTEL. They▼ have two children.
Premier Dalton McGuinty offered his condolences to the HAMPTON family.
"I know that losing a father can leave a deep hole in your life and it must be particularly hard to lose someone you love so close to the holidays, which is a time to celebrate as a family," McGuinty said in a statement.
"I know that for Howard, his mother, Elsie, and for his family, this loss is so deep."
A funeral has been scheduled for Friday in Fort Frances.

Margaret passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on Friday, January 6, 2006 due to complications from breast cancer. Predeceased by her beloved husband and dearest friend Joe. Dearly loved and deeply missed by her children and their partners Liz (David), Andrew (Esmeralda) Ottawa and Frances. A proud and loving "Nana" adored by Matthew and Ethan and a special "Grandma" cherished by Justin and Jeff. Margaret will be lovingly remembered by her brother-in-law Bill, sister-in-law Nora, nephews and nieces and their families, cousins and their families, "teacher Friends", neighbours and many dear Friends. Loving memories with Man, Hien, Cam, Tuyen, Thomas and Camille. Margaret was an avid volunteer all of her life and will be fondly remembered by the many people she helped. Margaret had a deep faith and this was reflected in her active participation at her church, Kingsway Lambton United.
