Peacefully, at Providence Healthcare in Scarborough, on March 11, 2006, in her 78th year, after a lengthy illness. Cherished sister to Nora BAKER, Robert BURROWS, May HAMLETT, and Sheila PINK. Loving mother to Kevin, Douglas, and Patric. Proud grandmother to Alexandra and Eric. Dear mother-in-law to Grace HUBBARD, Wendy HAYES and Pat TOMS. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews, extended family, Friends and neighbours. Predeceased by husband John HUBBARD, brother Sydney BURROWS and parents Samuel and Marguerite BURROWS. Devoted to family life and community service, and admired for her passion in painting, poetry, and gardening. Many thanks to all healthcare professionals enlisted in her courageous struggle with cancer and diabetes. Honouring her request, there is no service. Cremation has taken place. Private interment to be held later this spring at Saint Margaret in the Pines Cemetery, Scarborough. A resident of R.R.# 5 Dresden, passed away suddenly at the C.K.H.A. Public General Campus on Monday, April 24, 2006 at the age of 88. Born in Humboldt, Saskatchewan, son of the late Jerry and Ann DUFORD. Wilfred was an owner, trainer and driver of standardbred horses for over 80 years. He won an O'Brien Award and a Canadian Breeder's Award for his two year old trotter Mighty Beacon in 1998. He was a veteran of World War 2 serving over seas in the Army Service Corp. Beloved husband of Mabel (RICHARDS) DUFORD. Loving father of Rod and Faye DUFORD of Essex, Jerry and Joanne DUFORD of Campbellville, and Dennis DUFORD of Dresden. Loving grandfather of Jennifer THOMPSON/THOMSON/TOMPSON/TOMSON, Dean HUGHES, Ron DUFORD, Hannah DUFORD, and Ashley DUFORD. On Tuesday, October 10, 2006 at home in Toronto. Born on the 13th of July 1934 in Ottawa. son of the late Audrey GILMOUR and Cuthbert SCOTT; survived by his brothers David, Brian and Christopher SCOTT and his sisters Nancy COLTON and Martha SCOTT, all of Ottawa, and by 15 nephews and nieces: Blair, Tony, Sheila and Sandy SCOTT (David and Alison SCOTT;) Andrew and Mark HAMLIN (Nancy COLTON) Ben, Matthew, Joshua and Katie SCOTT (Brian SCOTT and Monica SAPIANO); James, Will and Ian MURPHY (Martha SCOTT and Brian MURPHY), Aidan and Leah SCOTT (Christopher SCOTT and Sharon HILL). Ian graduated from Saint Michael's College at the University of Toronto and Osgoode Hall Law School. He practised law for 35 years with the firm of Cameron, Brewin and Scott and Gowlings. He was the member of the Provincial Legislature for the riding of St. David from 1985 to 1992 and the Attorney General of Ontario from 1985 to 1990. In 1994, Ian suffered a debilitating stroke which he confronted with courage and determination. For a period of 12 years thereafter, until his death, he thrived on the inexhaustible support of his family and his wide circle of Friends and former colleagues. He was predeceased by his partner Kim YAKABUSKI and was supported to the end by his devoted housekeeper Librandina DE SOUSA. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint Michael's Cathedral, 200 Church Street, (corner of Shuter and Bond Streets) Toronto, on Friday, October 13 at 10: 30 a.m. A private interment to follow. The Cole Family announces with sorrow the death of Jon Wilfred COLE of Cobalt. Mr. COLE passed away surrounded by his loving family at the Temiskaming Hospital, New Liskeard on Sunday, January 1, 2006 at the age of 80 years. Jon had a Country and Western music group called "Jon Cole and Friends". The group would often play in seniors' homes and entertain the residents and this gave Jon the greatest pleasure. He loved to see the audience tapping their feet or clapping their hands to his music. Jon was also a member of the Kiwanis Club which does a lot of fundraising for various charities in the area. Jon was born at Cobalt on January 13, 1925 to the late Delwor COLE and Helena Rebecca VILLENEUVE. He is predeceased by his first wife Bernice Joan COLE; and siblings: Arthur, Tommy, Hector, Walter, Clarence, Bobby, Teddy and Sally. Left to mourn is his loving wife Evelyn Florence COLE; children: Carolyn HAMM (husband Jim,) Donna DURAND (husband Don,) Patricia DILEO (husband Paul,) Karen ANDERSON (husband Chuck,) Russell BROWN (wife Judy), Jimmy BROWN and Glenn BROWN. Died September 30th, London Ontario of acute myelogenous leukemia. Tom was born in Chatham, Ontario, and graduated from the University of Western Ontario, Meds '61. He interned at Saint_Joseph's Hospital in London, Boston City Hospital, and the Royal Victoria Hospital, and the Royal Edward Hospital, both in Montreal. He practised respirology and taught at Saint_Joseph's Hospital and the University of Western Ontario since 1968. Retiring from Saint_Joseph's Hospital staff in 2002 he entered private practice in 2003 and continued working until his illness was diagnosed in August 2006. Tom is survived by his wife of forty-five years, the Reverend Mary McDowell WOOD of Shawville, Quebec, and their five children, Judith (Sigurd EIDSMO) of Denmark, Jane (Blair CRAWFORD) of Ottawa, Sarah (Rob BALLANTYNE) of Toronto, Pete of Hubbards, Nova Scotia, and James (Christine THORPE) of Toronto. Grandchildren are Julia, Thor and Jarl EIDSMO, Annie▼ and Liz CRAWFORD, and Mark, Ben and Sam BALLANTYNE. Tom▼ is also survived by his sister, Mrs. Ida Jean "Terry" (David MARTIN) of Ottawa. Tom returned to university recently and received his Honours B.A. in Art History and Criticism (with distinction) from the University of Western Ontario. Tom lived life to the fullest, and he lived it in style. Some of his essays have appeared in the Globe and Mail. He traveled widely, including extensive walking tours in Europe. He supported the arts and he cherished Friendship. Tom was an entirely generous and adoring husband; he was a father who delighted in, admired and respected each of his children; and he was a faithful brother. He was a fair and gracious colleague, and a kind and astute doctor who practiced and taught the art of medicine. He was a perceptive and eloquent teacher. In all things, Tom was "A good and faithful servant to his life's end". Our family feels a profound gratitude for the superb care Tom received in Oncology and Palliative Care at Victoria Hospital from Doctor Jo-Anne HAMMOND, her Resident Doctor Yishai WISE, the support staff, and the wonderful nurses for their infinite kindness to us. Died September 30th, London, Ontario of acute myelogenous leukemia. Tom was born in Chatham, Ontario, and graduated from the University of Western Ontario, Meds '61. He interned at Saint_Joseph's Hospital in London, Boston City Hospital, and the Royal Victoria Hospital, and the Royal Edward Hospital, both in Montreal. He practised respirology and taught at Saint_Joseph's Hospital and the University of Western Ontario since 1968. Retiring from Saint_Joseph's Hospital staff in 2002 he entered private practice in 2003 and continued working until his illness was diagnosed in August 2006.
